  1. Gotta love Ned Yost's great managerial decision making. When asked why Jenkins was starting, here's Nedly's enlightening response: "We're looking for more offense," Yost said. "Jenks has been working real hard on his adjustments, and it's been awhile since he's started." He wasn't even benched a week, was he? Is Mr. Yost that worried about hurting someone's feelings? Unfreakingbelievable. Where did that get ya Ned.......0-2 2 K's 3 LOB. WOW, now I call that "adjustments" Ned.
  2. A good manager would be riding the player with the hot bat (Rivera). Good managers do the exact opposite of what you are proposing. You're joking, right?
  3. Let's give him another $10 mill per year. It's as ridiculous a proposition as giving that amount to him in his last contract. Ben Sheets is unarguably the most overrated player in Brewers history. There is an unjustified love-fest that a lot of Brewers fans have for this guy for no real apparent reason. I wish I could put in one good year of work and be rewarded by a contract that sets me up for the rest of my life.
  4. Good point. A good manager would be riding the player with the hot bat (Rivera). Instead he isn't playing the guy who's "producing" as Ned likes to think he does as manager.
  5. One more thing, if we have a save situation, does Cordero go? He threw a lot of pitches yesterday. Absolutely not. We have two proven all-star closers in our bullpen (Kolb and Turnbow)...why would we need to overwork Cordero? Oh wait....they both stink now. Cordero gets the call!!!
  6. great win, I enjoy the though that the cubs fans have to return to illinois after a loss and sit in traffic for the rest of the afternoon. Yeah, good thought. However, they have all already forgotten about the loss. When they're that far out of contention, all they care about is making a horses rear end of themselves in Miller Park yelling out obnoxious things and chanting "Let's go Cubbies!" If they get to do that, they can leave and return back to the Chicagoland area a happy camper.
  7. Good 'ol Coco! How can you NOT like the guy? He's a gamer and a battler. No wonder Ned threw him in that closer's role.
  8. Just to spite you. It seems like it...especially that Mike Matheny guy.
  9. Henry Blanco (Hank White) couldn't hit a beachball when he was with us. Why do these old Brewers always come back to get us?
  10. He may get more playing time again, but he needed the rest after he played so much after Koskie went down. I hear that reason, but I don't buy it. Since July 26th, Cirillo's only had 11 AB's. It seems like he hasn't been in there in ages. For the only guy on the team hitting comfortably over .300, he should be in there more often than that.
  11. Oh come on, Prior is not trying to hit our guys. Be realistic. Why would he be trying to hit Mench with the bases loaded? You think he wants to give us a run? And all Cirillo does is hit. Why is he not in the lineup more often? Yost continues to amaze me.
  12. Peaveyfury.... How is it that in between all of the comments on this board, you find mine and respond? Someone's getting to ya, huh? Truth hurts sometimes: SEASON OVER!!!
  13. Well the ONE game I thought we would win in this series is going south very, very quickly. SWEEP coming! Then I hope all the apologists will throw in the towel for good because the Cubs severely suck (what does that say about us?)
  14. We just have to win most, if not all our remaining series. Is that really realistic?
  15. Sorry to be the pessimist of the thread but in all likelihood I see the Crew only taking tonight's game and then dropping the next two to officially give up any hope of a WC berth. It pans out that way in my mind because of the pitching matchups this series. Ohka will (or should) beat Marmol. Then we have to face Cy Zambrano which is an automatic L (because Big Z killer El Caballo is in TX) and then Mark Prior. Our pitchers for the last two are Bush and Davis. What's there to be optimistic about knowing that? Just have a feeling....
  16. Your backhanded insults toward everyone are also unappreciated. People aren't 'incoherent' simply because they don't agree with you. Excuse me, but I don't remember calling people on the board "incoherent." Don't try to misconstrue my words. I merely said they would be thinking "more coherently." I think if people read my posts accurately and didn't try to add or subtract words as they saw fit, I wouldn't receive all the hostility (P.S. People do agree with what I have to say, they merely are, at times, silent because they don't want to ruffle feathers or disrupt the Brewers aura of the room).
  17. Thanks, naivin. It seems I am not as "idiotic" as some people think. See, others DO agree with my points on here. Step outside the Brewers bubble, people. You'll start thinking more coherently, like myself and naivin already are!
  18. Marc Newfield of Dreams I don't think I need to defend myself to a guy who chooses the "great" Marc Newfield to be his handle name. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  19. I'm sorry, but he's been accused of trolling before. Stuff like that just bugs me. Do you always bash people when they disagree with you? Someone may have a different viewpoint than you regarding perceptions of different players on the team or the organization in general. Some guys like myself aren't obsessed with stats or OBP or SLG or pitching geek stats, but rather are focused on who wins us ballgames. Some people love calculating that stuff, and to them I say HAVE FUN! But for me, I love looking at box scores and standings and seeing W's in the win column for the Brewers. I tend to like the players who contribute the most to that "W" column, and if I need to be condemned for that, then go right ahead. Thus, Ben Sheets does not make my favorite players list, nor does Geoff Jenkins. I love players who get the most of their ability and contribute in the clutch and earn their money. There's nothing wrong with that.
  20. Hard to blame a guy for being injured, as well as his W-L record. So why does a pitcher get credit when he racks up 20 wins but when it comes to him losing games, it's now NOT his fault? I never understood that rationale. It's the excuse people use for a overhyped pitcher who certainly is not meeting his contractual expectations. His ERA was not super in his first three seasons but yet the wins were due to his super pitching, yet all our losses were due to the lack of run support he received. Gotta love the Brewers kool-aid drinkers on his board.
  21. When Bell leads us to the wild card this year, hopefully Brewer nation will support him. You're joking, right? P.S. Sheets deserved the L tonight. Sidenote: Sheets' career record now stands at 57-66 (ACE)!
  22. I'm sure Bucksman has got his Dr. Frist diagnosis by TV diploma... I didn't give a diagnosis, if you read my post correctly. I questioned his athleticism and heart because of his babying of injuries. Keep on backing Sheets though. He could turn into Kerry Wood/Mark Prior and a lot of you will back him strongly because of his one good season. I wish I could be a pitcher in the bigs with a career losing record and one season with a sub-3 ERA and be treated like a god as Ben Sheets is across much of the Brewer nation.
  23. Sheets is pretty much snake-bit. I mean, has anyone ever heard of "pec tightness" knocking someone out? Nope. bullox said it best, Ben is out of shape. Period. I am starting to question his heart. A lot of people on here and in general tend to stand up for the guy through a lot of stuff that he pulls but I'm sorry, one decent season in '04 with a low ERA and high K totals doesn't make up for his lack of production after his big contract was handed out.
  24. Having said that, what is the market for Brady Clark's services going to look like this off-season?
