  1. That means he's the best starter on the team, right? No, but I'd argue based upon performances only, he's our 3rd best behind Cappy and Sheets. He's not a #5 starter...at least not on this team..
  2. Instead of complaining about the lack of offense (which is a boring, repetitive topic with this team), I will take this opportunity to show respect for Carlos Villanueva. He has proven to me he's ready to be a full-time starter in the bigs and is welcome in the Brewers starting rotation next season. A heck of a job against the first place team in our division tonight for Big C. I'm pumped for next year to see this guy throw a full season for us.
  3. Sheets is getting shelled today....10 hits! Seems like they're getting a run every inning.
  4. Bucksman, there's a reason no one agrees with you, it's because what you say most of the time doesn't make any sense. So, you're telling me it would've made more sense for me to say "oh yeah Jenkins has been great this year!" Essentially, I'm making a point that both Yost and Melvin would agree with (he sucked this year!) and I get people trying to make it seem like he hasn't been as bad as he really has. And what I say doesn't make sense.....hmm....
  5. Of course Jenkins had a fine April, but hey facts don't really matter in this discussion. Okay...fine, I'll give you April. I still have the other 5 months to reference and back up my point.
  6. Last year, Jenkins was on fire the entire second half, when the Brewers were trying to stay in the playoff race. meanwhile, Lee disappeared. Of course, that fact doesn't fit into some people's perception of either player, so they ignore it altogether. Sorry to interupt your predictable rant with reality. It's funny...I don't know why you're bringing up what he did or didn't do last season and Carlos Lee's name?? What does that have to to with the fact Jenkins has sucked this season..for the WHOLE season. It's funny how 3-4 HR's and a decent 2 week span from a player can cloud some people's perception of reality.
  7. .770 OPS on the year for Jenkins. Couple more HR's and he'll be sitting right in that .800-.830 OPS range you expect from him. Yeah, nothing like Jenkins having a late-season hitting tear when the games don't count anymore and his horrible season can be skewed by a few meaningless HR's with a few weeks left. Where was he in April, May, June, July, or August? If any of you say these games aren't meaningless, then please explain why I'm the 5th poster in this in-game thread? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. Cuz he has a funny last name. Well said. Graffanino qualifies as a clown because he simply is not an everyday player. I'm sorry, a solid backup? Yes. But if he's your starting 2B, you'd be in sorry shape.
  9. As much as I hate to say it...if I were Doug Davis, I'd be saying, "trade me - or get me somewhere closer to the land of run support." And if I were Doug Melvin I would say, ok...take your 5 ERA and hit the mother freakin' streets! Who needs ya? Mr. Villanueva, welcome to the starting rotation. And about this team...Yost isn't to blame for this horrible play. Come on, admit it, there's NO talent in this lineup whatsoever. David Bell? Graffanino? Brady Clark? Mike Rivera/Damian Miller? Kevin Mench? Please. I'm surprised we ever win a game running these clowns out there.
  10. So why do YOU watch the Brewers? Because 1) nothing else is on TV and 2) Packers and Bucks seasons have not started yet.
  11. That was a horrible move by Yost. I know it's easy to say that now but it was a very mis-managed situation. Why wouldn't he just let Sheets finish the inning? Didn't Yost realize his lefty specialist move would be countered by a righty pinch hitter? I'm sorry but Shouse should be meant as purely a L-L matchup guy, not a universal pitcher to righties too. Garner outmanaged him there, no doubt about it. Sheets wasn't pinch hit for the inning before...let him finish the inning. As of right now, Yost costed us the game if it ends as is.
  12. If you're a dedicated fan of a team, it hurts anytime they lose, whether they're in first place or last place. I'll give you that it is almost funny bad how we keep losing games on the road, but it doesn't make it hurt any less. I acknowlege that because I hate to see us lose game after game too. But come on! How can you feel badly for a team that stinks this horribly on the road? There's no reason for the road letdown. I disagree that a homefield advantage in baseball means nearly what it does for the NFL or NBA so what the heck is their excuse? Any team that performs like they do and blows an opportunity to get into the WC hunt with performances like this road trip don't deserve any of our sympathy.
  13. Painful. The vaunted bowl of crap continues. It would only be painful if we were actually still in the hunt. We have no hope whatsoever, so how can it really be painful at all. If anything, it's a little funny. To suck this bad on the road is quite an accomplishment. To be 3 games under .500 and go on a 7-game road trip and come back 0-7, it basically is their way of telling us fans, "WE THREW IN THE TOWEL, find something else to do with your time!"
  14. Unfortunately, the Brewers are 9 games under .500...this is the worst record over the past two seasons. And yet, Ned's job is safe huh? It's a joke. Melvin better seriously analyze this off-season whether Ned is the guy he wants to go long-term with to lead this franchise. Right now, I am in the opinion that a stern, hard-nosed, experienced major league manager is needed.
  15. Well, I didn't see the game but it sure looked like Turnbow got his act straight. It would be nice for him to carry this type of pitching on through the remainder of this season, for naught as it may be. It would be key for him to be our 8th inning guy next year to set up Cordero. And for those who think we wouldn't be a better team with Carlos Lee in the lineup, I say......you know what, it would most likely get me banned so I will refrain from speaking my mind on you people.
  16. A very befitting end to this game and series with the 3 K's They're more like KO's to our season. Bring up the kids...get them some P.T. and experience for next year.
  17. Motivation only goes so far. The players still have to actually go out there and not suck. Yeah, so what's the answer then? Does Ned get a free pass because his player's suck?
  18. For all those folks who think Ned's job is safe for next year, think about this: in a series this big on the road, wouldn't you think he could motivate his team to play hard and win at least ONE of these game in FL? This is pathetic. Really. To go into FL 3 games under .500 and to lay an egg this badly getting swept in a 4-game series? It is flat out embarrasing and he should be accountable for this. Heading into HOU, I could see this winding up as a 7-game losing streak with Oswalt, Clemens, and Pettite scheduled to face us in this series.
  19. Too bad Rillo can't play everyday. He would be so much better than Bell. Dude can still rake.
  20. Re-read them before you go ahead and make a donkey of yourself calling me out. Inappropriate. And saying that to hawing? Unreal. If bucksman4 has an account here tomorrow, I will be plenty shocked and upset. I no longer like Paul Molitor just because of your sn. I didn't realize donkey was such a horrible word. Trying to provoke things like getting people banned for menial things like that is childish and I feel sorry for you.
  21. Saying Weeks is expendable is hilarious however. Why? I don't think he's the hitter he's hyped to be and don't ever see him as a .300 man. His defense is shaky (to put it nicely) and he doesn't bode well as a 2B on a playoff team IMO. What if you could get a quality, young #2 pitcher for him? You're telling me you wouldn't pull the trigger? Why is that so hilarious? I would do it in a heartbeat and plug Billy Hall in as our everyday 2B.
  22. Every player cannot make any mistakes and must get hits every game. If they dont, yost is to blame. When do you draw a line between seeing where the problem lies? Is the problem really Yost or is it that lack of big league talent on this club right now that's hurting us? How can someone legitimately blame Yost for a loss like today? The players didn't execute (Graffy and Prince's horrible fielding....Mench's turtle speed and mishandling of the winning run...etc.). Maybe we need better players. I see all OF spots that can be improved on. We need a 2B who can field (meaning Weeks could be expendable this off-season). I see a 3B issue. I see a SS in Hall who should be full-time next year there (thus making Hardy expendable). People have to realize these spots can be upgraded and having a glut of INF's can be a good thing. Nobody should assume all of these young guys will be around next year. At least I hope they won't. We could get good pitching for them.
  23. Bucksman. What a surprise. My comments were quite accurate. Re-read them before you go ahead and make a donkey of yourself calling me out.
  24. Ah, good stuff, newsflash, we are not a playoff contender. Not the way we play baseball on the road. Yeah, I think I sent out that newsflash a few weeks back. The team hasn't won on the road all year long. Because they were within 3 of .500, why would people all of a sudden think things would change? Almost 20 games under .500 on the road doesn't cut it and it's an insult to the game of baseball to consider your team a contender with that horrible of a showing on the road.
  25. And we're supposed to believe this is a playoff team? God dang. After the 3rd......nothing. This is why this team is so frustrating. Of course, HOU, STL, and CIN will all win today too to add insult to injury. Looking at our lineup here on mlb.com I have to laugh at the mere thought of a playoff starting lineup with Gross, Graffanino, Bell, and Hart/Clark. Maybe Hart and Gross someday....but those other guys? No playoff starting lineup would ever have them in it, let's face the facts.
