  1. Oh ok...I'm not trying to start anything. I am not able to watch the game or hear the radio broadcast so I didn't know if I was missing the reason Lee was removed.
  2. Anyone know why El Caballo was removed from the game? Trade in the works??
  3. Corey Hart should get a few more starts out there this week. All he's doing is hitting the ball. Give him some consistent AB's and see what the big fella can do. On another note, all I can say is WHEW! It can never be 1-2-3 for us in the 9th. I guess that's life as a Brewers fan.
  4. If the Brewers score late people want to know why they always fall behind and don't score early. If they score early people complain that they didn't add to the lead and "only" scored 6 runs. It just doesn't make sense. Because that statement pretty much characterizes the Milwaukee Brewers. They're all over the board. One game they're hitting machines and the next they're getting 3 hit by a guy called up freshly from AAA. Day in and day out you have no clue what you're getting from them. As Carlos goes, so goes the Brewers. I can't wait to see all those people who are calling for Lee to be traded reactiong next season when we don't have him. We'll see a ridiculously inconsistent offense and no power whatsoever. You'll be missing him, trust me. Why do you think we traded Po for him in the first place? We needed a RH bat with proven pop and hit for average. Will Corey Hart or Cruz be that guy? Not next year, that's for sure.
  5. Season is OVER...officially. And I'm usually the optimist in this room http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Butchy can pack his bags and put his Milwaukee house or condo up for sale anytime he chooses now because changes will be made and without a doubt, he will be the one canned because there was speculation of it even after last season. I personally would like them to re-evaluate Billy Castro. His duties consist purely of bullpen pitching and that has been one of the weakest dimensions of the team this year. Kolb, Wise, Capellan, Turnbow, Gonzalez...the list goes on and on. You know you're in crappy shape when you're bringing in a starter for relief (David Bush) just 2 days before he's scheduled to take the hill.
  6. Its not the lineup, its the team. Thank you. Doug Melvin. You're gonna have to do better than this, buddy.
  7. Braun is hopefully the 3rd base answer. Not in '07.
  8. Well, yes. I think Weeks and Fielder will both be better. I think they might obtain a 2/3 type pitcher, but it will have to be a young one to afford him. Also, I think Sheets will be back all next year. Fair enough. I hope so. I personally see 3 key areas to improve: 1) Bullpen pitching: attain a Howry/Eyre guy (give him big money if need be....we have all witnessed how important it is for a guy to hold a lead in the 7th and 8th this season). 2) 3rd base: need a solid guy here who will put up big numbers and be in the middle of the lineup (5 spot-type). Koskie/Hall isn't the answer. 3) OF situation: I don't envision Clark or Jenkins being part of a team that goes to the post-season. We need someone who we can count on out there (especially in Jenkins spot: RF and 3-hole).
  9. It's frustrating to endure another .500 season if that happens, but I think next year we'll be able as fans to set the playoffs as an attainable goal. I'm not being facetious here or anything....but why do you think next year is the year? Why playoffs next year? Do you think Weeks and Fielder will be a lot better next year or will they attain a quality SP to plug in the 2 or 3 spot in the rotation? Do you realistically think, as is, we're a playoff team next year or do we have to add/subtract pieces to make it happen?
  10. I took some time away from the game thread because it was getting to be a back-and-forth jab session. With a possible sweep coming tomorrow, isn't it tough to see Melvin sitting on his hands and not doing a thing? I have got to wonder if he really thinks this team can compete as is or maybe he knows we're a year or two away? Melvin even admitted in the JS that the offense is very subpar and he is concerned about the prolonged slumps of players (namely Jenkins, Fielder, Miller). There was another article not so long back that had him speaking unfavorably about our bullpen. I don't know if he thinks Sheets and Ohka are going to be our saviors, but let's call a spade a spade here. We were a .500 team last year with those guys. It's not like we're going to all of a sudden challenge STL for the division.
  11. There's nothing wrong with being a negative nelly (end is actually pretty good at it), but when you play "martyr speaking truth to mindless automatons with no perception of reality", it gets old See, that's what I don't understand. Just because what I say is blatantly true and harsh at times, it tends to offend people. But I believe it offends people because it is what they are thinking, but their blurred outlook and hazy Brewers-vision goggles are preventing them from typing the words I do. Please refute things that I say that aren't true. I welcome that primarily because I am confident that what I say is as truthful as it gets, because I watch all the games.
  12. Carlos lost the game by himself last night if you really want to look at it in a negative way. Oh, is Carlos the real first name for DERRICK Turnbow? Because as I saw it, we had a lead in the 9th inning. Then I remember a shaggy-haired, Tennessee-mountain man running in from the bullpen and subsequently gave up a 2 run HR. If that's was Carlos, then shame on him.
  13. Come on, this team stinks. Please don't take out your frustrations on me. I'm just calling it as I see it. We're witnessing the unraveling that will cost us Carlos Lee. Then I want to come back here next year when everyone is saying, "we have no one to provide the power, RBI's, right-handed bat in the lineup," and I'll remind all those anti-Carlos staying people how dumb their logic was and how quality, competing teams need to retain players of his caliber if they ever want to play over .500 ball.
  14. The Ks aren't hurting the Brewers. Spoken like a true die hard HOMER...congrats. Let's take a minute and give it up for the AAA Brewers!
  15. Yost is playing the numbers and weeks has been bad in this situation. But you brilliant people already know that. Oh, sorry. Let me clarify. I have no problem at all sitting weeKs. He is doing nothing to warrant playing time over Barnwell. My point is the lineup stinks either way (with him or without him). Jenkins is useless. Prince is up and down (mostly down). Miller, Koskie, Hall, and Gross are no superstars either. Pretty mediocre and very inconsistent. Note to Doug Melvin: get rid of the K-prone guys next year. Your lineup is so up and down/ hit or miss because of all the high-strikeout prone guys. I'm no genius, but....
  16. One run might just be enough tonight. With Webb going against our pathetic lineup, it's certainly not out of the realm of thinking.
  17. Relax. Weeks isn't exactly playing world-beating baseball right now and his fielding still sucks. Put someone out there who will be sure-handed and change up the lineup, what the heck. Wake up call time has officially begun!
  18. I don't know if you are a Packers fan, but that year they won was awesome because I was a puching bag for Dallas and Bears fans for years. Yes, I am a Packers fan and live in Chicago as well. I love the fact the Cubs are sucking it up and the Sox are World Champs. Riebes24....all I can say to you is....I have a girlfriend. Sorry that my truthful comments spark such animosity from you. The truth hurts???
  19. Seriously. You post in IGT's about how the team sucks. This whole "I am speaking the truth" thing is a joke. Where do you get this "quest for mediocrity" thing from? The mediocrity thing comes from the fact that when a team sees the Brewers on the schedule, they just think, "eh ok Milwaukee...whatever." I can't imagine another team's broadcast crew saying, watch out the Brewers are coming to town! We are an average team in the MLB. Plain and simple. Living outside of the bubble that is Milwaukee, let me just tell you all a secret...no one cares that the Brewers exist. They don't really mean anything to the league as a whole and are seen as a "Seattle Mariners, a Baltimore Orioles, an Arizona Diamondbacks" type of team. Outside of their own market, they really don't strike fear in the opposing team. Until we establish ourselves in the free agent market, retain key players, and at least be in the divisional hunt or attain the wild card, we're just a glorified version of the Kansas City Royals. And that's the truth!!!
  20. Fourth, start evaluating Wynegar. What does he bring to the team? Why has the team constantly struggled during his regime to score with RISP? That's simple. We have a bunch of free-swingers who don't listen to him and alter their swings with 2 strikes on them (Hall, Jenkins, Miller, Weeks). The sad part is...they're all starters for us. Blame Butch that these guys can't hit when they're down in the count. Sounds logical to me.
  21. I love that bucksman posts not a once when the Brewers are in the lead, then immediately jumps in when they lose. Vintage. I posted that one for you, buddy. I'm sorry I only get worked up when our "all-star" closer sucked it up yet again for us. Hey I was reading through the comments after the game and believe it or not, as hard as it may be to fathom, I wasn't the only one saying negative things about this team. Re-read. You'll find that I am speaking the truth. GO BREWERS.......toward our neverending quest to sustain mediocrity in Milwaukee! Start dealing Doug! Make Attanasio put his money where his mouth is. What the heck do you have to lose? Spend some money....why not at this point?
  22. Blame the offense too. They didn't really do enough either. Don't take the onus off Turnbow. Bottom line is he had a lead and he didn't do his job. His almost 5 ERA is pathetic for a closer. Maybe a 96-97 MPH fastball right down the middle isn't as unhittable as some of us may think. Just ask Mr. Estrada and Mr. Gonzalez.
  23. I am glad Doug Melvin is sitting there in the front row watching this happen. Maybe it will wake him up and he can start to deal for some bullpen relief like the Reds have done. Wake up Doug. The bullpen you have assembled sucks!
  24. Give it up for our ALL STAR! D-Bow in for D-Blow! It's almost laughable. Can we all just throw in the towel now? Anyone who thinks this team can catch the Cardinals needs to see me about some property in the Everglades I have to sell them.
  25. Offer him arby next year, then let him walk. No extension. Why? Let him walk now. We have guys with more potential coming up who will fill in just fine and allow us to save some $ instead of blowing it on Doug. He's not going to be with this team when we get to the playoff years anyways, so why throw money out the window?
