  1. I feel much better about our team on both sides of the ball in late innings than I have the last few years, but with Marmol lurking I'm still hoping we make our run earlier than later and take control back.
  2. Hopefully the dam breaks and we start pushing some of these multiple runners across before the offense dries up completely. I feel like we should've put up a five spot on Marshall by now.
  3. I'm OK with visiting fans coming to the park (Personally I've seen far more Brewers games on the road than at MP the last five years) and enjoying themselves as long as they don't act like they own the place. Respect in the host-guest relationship needs to go both ways, and in fact I think it's slightly more incumbent on the visitor. Anyway, I was wondering how bad the atmosphere was if Witrado thought to mention it, because it seems like any ballpark I go to anywhere regardless of whos' playing, there's almost always at least one "visible altercation" (usually in the upper deck or bleachers)...when I caught a Giants-Dodgers game a week or so back, there were three in the first seven innings before we left our seats. Whenever you get booze and young men with civic pride and sports passions mixed together, something will occur.
  4. I jump in the shower and come back to this. That Kendall to Suppan missed flip after the WP was positively Keystone Kop-esque. I had the feeling that after we didn't bring more runs in the 1st and 2nd something like this would happen before too long. Hopefully there won't be too much blood loss (just one more out, come on) because these guys can still be had with this lineup and Marshall and this pen, and like I said last night, we gotta kick the Cubs while they're down because they won't be forever.
  5. Witrado mentioned inhis write-up of last night's game that there were "visible altercations" in the stands last night. Kinda took me back to being a little kid and witnessing drunken dust-ups at County whenever the White Sox came up to play the Brewers (a good friend of mine in Chicago who's a White Sox fan told me how he'd always be scared when he was little to come up to Milwaukee with his Dad to watch the games, for better or for worse). Has it really gotten that bad again? Or is Witrado just stirring the pot? I haven't been to a Brewers-Cubs game at MP in a few years since I moved out West, and it seemed to me that the atmosphere was worse in, say, 2003, when the Cubs were killing us down the stretch and the place was crawling with chest-thumping Cubs fans. I'd think the series becoming more competitive would actually temper it a bit. Even in 2006, the last time I saw the teams play each other, it was pretty convivial in the stands (this was at Wrigley, but I tend to keep my trap shut while on the road). What's it like at MP these days?
  6. I know we're getting all worked up here (including myself), but I actually quite enjoy Brenly as a color man usually. I think he just went for the cheap dig, and it bombed.
  7. Yeah, I noticed people doing the same tonight. That was a weird night...if I remember correctly, they were giving away "Bringing Down the House" hats as part of the promotional schedule, but this was a couple days after Big Blue crashed and you could see it in ruins just beyond the bleachers. The game was pretty wild, too--a big Brewers win (against the Royals, I believe), but I remember Hideo Nomo got tagged sliding into home.
  8. Man, between the injuries and the way they've lost these first two, you gotta think the Cubs will be ready to get out of MP tomorrow--hopefully Soup can redeem himself tomorrow and we get the sweep, you gotta kick these guys while they're down.
  9. I thought Duffy was gonna give us a new "Jenks catch" a la Wrigley April '07.
  10. I'm glad to see that Coffey is such a big team guy--McClung seems to love this stuff, too. What is it with these big redhead relievers?
  11. Wait, when did Coffey dye his hair too? I missed that one, I thought it was just JJ and Corey
  12. I didn't like Fischer holding JJ there with Kendall and Coffey coming up but what can you do...it would've been a close play at the plate and we don't need having JJ ramming into any more catchers as he starts to heat up
  13. Turnabout's fair play. We've gotta walk, what, 4 more in on them now?
  14. Bases loaded, no outs. Trevor's probably looking for a comfortable place to sit right about now. Then again, these are our Brewers...
  15. The Cubs are an absolute MASH unit right now--I'd almost expect another position player to pitch here a la Janish this week with the Reds if the Brewers start putting runs across here.
  16. Just goes to show money and fame goes a long way--I'm sure Mr. Julio is a nice man, but he is not a looker. Ouch--I feel bad for Fox here. This game has had all kinds of weirdness.
  17. Yeah, put another couple on the board and leave Coffey in Edit: I wonder if Macha might not leave him in anyway
  18. Great, now we're gonna have to use Trevor The way the Cubs have been hitting since I got home, maybe I should back away from this one...
  19. I was at a game at County in '99 when the lights similarly went down. Just over a year later, I was in Atlanta, watching the Braves play, when the same thing happened (the PA played "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia," hardy har har). I get home and turn on the game and within five minutes, this happens. Sorry guys!
  20. Did the Cubs actually do the untuck? I remember there being some upset in the IGT thread of that game about them doing the OF jump, but EVERY team does that (the Cubs do it all the time when they're not playing the Brewers besides) and I'm certain the Brewers didn't start it anyway.
  21. I used to have to go to St. Louis for work pretty often, and I think it's a terrific city. Some nice old walkable neighborhoods with great places to eat and drink and shop (Central West End, Soulard, U-City on the edge of town), a large beautiful city park, decent waterfront. The self-righteousness of the Cards about this can stop whenever though. But it won't, because fans love to get worked up about this kind of stuff, the same way we're getting worked up about it.
  22. Let's not get carried away although Marquette is half Illinisian. Work and fun-no-except for when I go to Miller Park like in 15 hours via Lincoln Park. Fun is had by Chicago people in Dells, Lake Geneva, and northern Wisconsin though. Definitely not Milwaukee.I think Brenly's crack was a general one about the state and I think that's what TwR meant if not what he said. And it's kinda what I always asked friends in Chicago when I was living there when they'd dog on Wisconsin: "Ever notice how much thicker the traffic is northbound on 90/94 on Friday nights and Saturday mornings?" I'm a big fan of both places, Wisconsin and Chicago, having lived many years in both (although just Chicago proper--most of the Chicago suburbs are some of the homeliest, drabbest places on Earth, and the rest of the state? Forget about it), so I'm always torn when this kind of ridiculousness comes up, but I'm like you, Bob--it's like little brothers: Milwaukee is where I was born, Wisconsin is family, and as such, Milwaukee is mine to rip on, not theirs.
  23. Cross-posted from the IGT: I don't know how anyone can find it disrespectful given the backstory and that the game is already over (I mean, are the handshakes disrespectful?), but we know how hypocritical they are in St. Louis and how thin their skins are. As far as Braun (and Hall) watching their homers, I can't say I'm a fan of that whatsoever, but again, they only seem to do it in dramatic crucial situations (I know, I know...) and primarily: it's not like they're the only studs in even just the NL Central to do it.
  24. Prescient move given that it looks like A-Ram will be missing some time
  25. Yeah, for once I found myself agreeing with Milton Bradley, when he was shaking his head at him
