The Giants at least started the year that way, if they're not still doing it.Pablo Sandoval can and occasionally does catch. I'm not sure if Soto ever actually was on the DL when the Cubs were just using Koyie Hill...I don't believe he was. Me, I'm concerned about Kendall's hand...he got hit quite a bit recently it seems. I'd rather have a backup C there for now.
How many 1-0 games in post-DH MLB history have been won by a homerun by the starting pitcher? I'm sure it's not completely rare but there still can't be altogether too many. I'd also be willing to bet that this is the latest in the game that it's been done in years.
Kinda funny (about halfway down): http://www.pittsburghsports.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1853&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=10 These guys aren't nearly as bad as that other board
Wait what am I missing? Why are they getting beaned? Because TLR is "hard-nosed" The Cardinals apparently didn't care for Braun's or Billy Hall's reactions after hitting huge homers in the 4 game sweep at New Busch last July...a lot of whining from Pujols and the Cards' beat writer, and I'll still see "Drill Bill" photoshops now and again from Cards' fans
I can't find myself getting too worked up by a few childish guys on the internet who root on a team that hasn't won since before Miley Cyrus was born that the Brewers have beaten 15 in a row
You, me, and 2,241others...we're an exclusive bunch http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif That said, I like how in this day and age with Twitter and FB, players and media personalities provide a lot of inside perspective.
I had no big problem with Yo hitting there (especially not after what happened) but I did not care for him coming out for the 8th this early in the year with over 100 pitches and the lead, regardless of what happened Still, that was a masterful outing by Yovani.
Agreed, between this and Maholm batting last night, Russell is a little insane. And count me among those who believes that Yo won't come out for the 8th, especially now with the lead, that he was in as a PH Zambrano-style with a late tie. Also: very frustrating that you need to be a premium member to see video highlights on MLB Gameday this year.
Argh, frustrating day for Braun...I really thought we'd get one there I gotta wonder if Snell bats this next inning after Russell had Maholm bat last night
Since it had to end I'm kinda glad the seal was broken on that one relatively early since there was ultimately no damage that inning...my blood pressure had a hard go of it last Thursday. Come on, let's get some runs here now.
Actually, from what I can see it's been pretty inconsistent--I counted three balls last inning that were marked right in the zone but also saw a couple questionable strike calls. Anyway, that inning lasted forever...I'd rather have seen the Brewers push one across there, but I guess I'll take a high pitch count from Snell with Yo on the mound (knock knock) and considering how the Pirates' pen has looked the last couple days.
Man, when that first Pirate got on after what should've been strike three, I had flashbacks to Gagne in Wrigley last season opener...Glad to see that demon exorcised. Sweet first save as a Brewer, Mr. Hoffman Like the Pirates announcers' said: Paul Maholm on the mound with a 5-1 lead...what do you have to do to beat these Brewers?!?
