  1. Yeah, I admit I looked, too. All this speculation takes me back to the "Dunn is coming! Wise and Turnbow just ran back into the clubhouse!" days...
  2. Brooks Kieschnick is being signed to bat leadoff.
  3. I wonder if it's gonna be a second baseman?
  4. The Brewers aren't gonna overpay for him The Cubs don't get him (and their fans have to watch him pitch for their in-town rival) He's in the AL Yeah, outside the Brewers getting him in a steal, this worked out as well as it could've in my opinion
  5. Man, that was great--I loved Brooks unfiltered honesty there. And I thought him and Todd were gonna collapse in tears and bro-hugs for a minute there--"I love you, man," etc etc He was one of those guys that made some bad teams worth watching--glad to know he felt the love
  6. I agree. I grew up watching Bernie slide into a mug of beer (loved the balloons that were released) and I believe I grew up into a semblance of a productive member of society. While I think the "splash zone" or whatever makes more "sense" than just landing on the platform, I still think it would make the most sense given the city and the team name and the history to have him slide from a chalet down past a wooden barrel keg into a gigantic steinof beer (and that makes a ton of sense, right? Yikes!). In all seriousness, I've never been able to figure out why they didn't bring it over from County other than a presumed sponsorship issue with Sentry.
  7. There are plenty of reasons why one would go vegan besides moral ones, although it's always a sticky issue as to whether an animal is "bothered" by being domesticated (and one I won't get into here). My wife's vegetarian and she does the cooking, so by extension most of the meals I eat are vegetarian and a goodly number of those are vegan, and I frankly never notice. We both love our cheese too much to ever go full vegan I think, but I guess my point is that you'd be surprised by how many meals you probably already enjoy are inherently vegan or can easily be adapted. (Depending on how absolutely strict you want to be with your veganism, you may also be surprised by how how things you'd think of as vegetarain and especially vegan have some kind of animal-based derivative--jello, for instance, is a prime example) Good luck.
  8. Laynce Nix has looked pretty good in spot-starts and PH for the Reds so far this year, but hardly to the point where I regret the Brewers giving up on him. I'd second the Gross deal, but even if Cruzis never more than a decent OF with occasional power, that El Caballo deal kinda sticks in my craw the further away we get from it. Yeah, Coco had a good 1.5 year run with us, but to what end? It seems we're pretty empty handed from it at this point.
  9. The fact that it's sponsored by a water-park makes me think the mug isn't coming back any time soon for a few reasons: 1) Kalahari probably has it on lockdown for a few years, 2) they might be looking to keep Bernie "family friendly," and 3) they'd need the Miller people to sponsor it now that the trend is set (and it'd have to be a SAB product as long as it's called Miller Park) (Edit: I suppose Sentry or something similarly congruous could sponsor it again, but there will definitely have to be a sponsor for them to put the stein up now that precedence has been set)
  10. Yeah, besides it looking cool, I've never figured out why so many people here seem to salivate over this. I've lived out-of-state for a good portion of my fanhood (starting way back as a kid in the late 70s), and have lived in both Milwaukee and elsewhere in Wisconsin, but it seems to me like it could possibly open a tiny can of worms. Even besides the 5-county thing, it seems like financially the Brewers need the state of Wisconsin--Milwaukee is just not a big enough of a market on its own. Think of the boarders like hawing and rluz that travel from elsewhere in the state. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.
  11. This is my feeling with the 1 and 2 provisos of the first post, additionally provided you put a "1" in front of that "8." I'll take a father and son who didn't pay for those particular seats before a pack of college-aged kids (which is the likelier scenario) any day/.
  12. Nice win, Crew! Good on ya, Soup! This one seemed to have late-innings heartbreaker written all over, esp. after stranding the two on with no outs in the 8th.
  13. I've noticed that Trevor doesn't "untuck 'em"
  14. Wait, the Happy Youngster was wearing a Marlins cap while trying to squeeze this guy for merchandise, memorabilia, and tickets? I think if so, like Pete Rose, that should get him banned from the Brewers Fan Hall of Fame.
  15. Maybe someone can equip Seth with one of those things Bernie Brewer shoots t-shirts out of in between innings in order to really get some momentum up to the press box. I agree that I wouldn't expect Macha to fall all over himself to get into it a la Nedley, but I still somewhat expect to see some kind of shenanigans this weekend.
  16. I gotta wonder whether he's gonna try and "set a tone" right away tomorrow night or if he'll order one on Sunday. Between the bad blood and his "gamesmanship" I gotta think there'll be at least one.
  17. It is now and always will be Shane McGowan of The Pogues http://j-walkblog.com/images/shanex9.jpg
  18. It's like that crushed Upton homer marked the point where Looper reverted to what we kinda expected of him. Well, hopefully he can stay settled down.
  19. One thing I like is that it seems Trevor gets the borderline calls as well. I agree that there will be rough patches, but 6-for-6 is pretty nice. Anyway, I'm with those who think the announcement should come after the music...that's how they did it when I saw the Brewers in San Diego a couple years back
  20. It depends on the bottle of wine. It could be that it's a bottle that I wouldn't mind paying $7 or $8 for at Trader Joe's or BevMo or wherever, but I'm paying double because of the label. Edit: To answer your question though, $15 isn't unreasonable for a good bottle of wine by any stretch, no.
  21. Yeah, I noticed that, too. Heck, maybe it WAS the wine!
  22. My wife and I drink a lot of wine, and obviously I'm a big Brewers' fan...I think I'm just the kinda sucker Rollie and his partner are looking for! (That's probably unfair as I haven't tasted the wine yet...but I will, which is the kinda thing they're counting on, I assume, which was my point. Who knows, maybe it'll be great and worth the price.) I wish I had known he was gonna be signing in town this past weekend. Apparently he comes to the Bay Area from LV for these releases often. I'm not a big autograph guy, but I'd take one of Rollie's on a bottle of cab with his mug plastered on it.
