  1. I'm now an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church (internet diivision) so that I can marry two friends from Chicago this summer who asked me to offciate their wedding outside of Madison. Reverend SeriesFinale. The best part is, because I'm not a Wisconsin resident, in Dane County I need to have a letter of sponsorship from another minister of my faith (!) who does reside there, so I had my mother in Ontario get online and get ordained as well.
  2. Anyone else watching this? It's the new Danny McBride (the guy from The Foot Fist Way, he's also been in Pineapple Express and Tropic Thunder) vehicle on HBO, six half-hour episodes about a washed-up baseball pitcher with a gargantuan ego and set of opinions who's forced to teach middle school back in his hometown. Pretty dumb, pretty dark, and pretty funny.
  3. Last week everyone....absolutely anything anyone can spare towards fighting childhood cancer is genuinely appreciated and put to good work. Thanks guys.
  4. Man, I wish I had ESPN Deportes...that game looked like a wild one. The funny thing is, yesterday Sutcliffe was railing once they took Rollins out for Jeter: "Are you trying to win this thing or are you trying to make everyone happy?" And DeRosa was great yesterday so I have no complaints...less risk for Braunie, besides.
  5. Well, compared to our current options... I'd really like to see JJ with this team for a long time to come and think him and the Brewers could really use each other in terms of on-the-field success in the next couple years while we still have everyone together.
  6. Even the photo you used itself...he was firing blanks from a machine gun into an audience at their last show Great stuff
  7. Interesting; maybe that is indeed the policy. At an apartment I had in Florida, twice I called the cops on my neighbors for domestic violence when I could hear him yelling, stuff being thrown and/or toppled, her crying and screaming (the first time she opened the door and literally yelled "Help!" before she was dragged back in and the door slammed), and both times the cops came and went with no one being arrested, which shocks me to this day. Maybe she didn't want to press charges, I don't know. Anyway, I definitely agree that he's innocent until proven guilty, but I guess I'm more of the "where there's smoke, there's usually fire" school than the "a lot of women make this stuff up" school. Both, of course, are jumping to conclusions.
  8. He's justified, and he's ancient, and he drives an ice cream van Bill Drummond of KLF
  9. Well, to be fair, the police also don't make arrests based on word alone, even in Land O' Lakes. I guess we'll see. He was great against the Tigers in that '07 series, I remember, a couple shutdown innings in very tight games, but he really fell off my radar after he went down
  10. Hard to believe just a couple years ago there was talk we were getting Adam Dunn for him and TGJ Always liked him as a pitcher and a person as well...hope he has a fruitful life
  11. The question is, why would the Yankees want to trade for an injured 3B to fill in for another injured 3B
  12. Haha, you got it before I deleted it I knew Pena was gone, but for some reason I'd thought he'd been DFA'd to make room for someone
  13. I'll believe 5 to 7 days when I see it, of course, but I'm not as concerned as I was when I first saw the thread title. For a second there I was missing Vinny Rottino!
  14. The photos were apparently mostly taken by plumbers who worked on the place, so I think that's the reason for those particular photos! I was there last year and didn't recall any troughs!
  15. They're putting a Hard Rock Cafe in there
  16. This is likely off-topic (maybe not, considering how this will make the rich richer), but here are some pretty sharp photos of the new Yankee Stadium. Looks pretty nice, although not much nicer than most of the new stadia opened this century around baseball. A vast improvement over the old place though, which was the most charmless and least pleasant of all the old classics, in my opinion.
  17. I was really hoping the Giants would go for him. Besides the local entertainment factor, it would make the Dodgers worse, and I'm not sure that Manny + their pitching is enough to put the Giants over the top this year.
  18. The most maddening thing for me about watching them isn't even the lack of offense or the pace, but the fact that they can't close out games. It feels like watching the Brewers play with a lead at times. I still think they make the tourney provided they win one in the Big Ten tourney (a relatively big if), but I'd much rather see these younger guys make an interesting run through the NIT
  19. Yeah, I think people are missing the fact that a lot of this is just goofy fun. I mean, they brought a beer pong table out there...one guy is living in a shanty made of cardboard boxes. Come on.
  20. Yeah, that was really more what I was getting at. I just don't like the idea of him out there doing press and stirring a pot that Prince or the Brewers don't really need to be stirred. I probably could've toned it better, but, well, it was written at 1:30 in the morning on a weekend. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  21. Rays signed him, I believe.
  22. I think the number one issue/concern is how well this rotation as constituted will perform. A couple weeks back there was concern about pitching depth, but much of that fear has been allayed, for me at least
  23. I'm sure they have people coming and going to man the posts, as it were, and a lot of these people are still working during the week. Looks like fun. Not enough fun to actually do it, but fun!
