  1. I keep waiting to see what other pieces the Brewers had to add to the deal. I don't think there are any. This is an impressive trade for the Brewers. I never viewed Ruiz as having a bright future and they flipped him for a young catcher who has already proved he can hit MLB pitching.
  2. I think Stearns was hamstrung by MA's budgetary constraints. I also think that's a major reason why he's playing out the string as an advisor for his last year and then moving on greener pastures.
  3. Since when do the Brewers worry about clubhouse culture?
  4. The Brewers should encourage Yelich to spend his off-seasons with Ryan Braun. Might get better production.
  5. I don't disagree with what Lauer said. But I've worked with many executives in my time and many do not take kindly to criticism and will orchestrate the complainers departure.

  7. I'm sure the front office would like to get him out of town. They surely don't appreciate the verbal attacks.

  9. I prefer firstbasemen who don't look like they're on a beer league softball team. Tellez, Vogelbach: no.

  11. And now they throw so few innings and get hurt at an even greater rate. They still haven't figured it out.

  13. I was in attendance for Cal Eldred's first start. September 24, 1991 vs. the Yankees. About 5 rows behind the 1st base dugout. Pretty sweet seats my friend was able to score (for free) from a friend who worked for a major Milwaukee employer at the time. Elred got the win. Looking it up it appears not many can make this claim. 9,378 in attendance that Tuesday night for team that was, at the time, 72-76.

  15. Cecil Cooper had a higher WAR from 1978-83 than Molitor. I would at least include his name in your definition of that "era." Coop and Yount were the heart and soul of those teams. While Molitor was a cocaine playboy.* *Molitor did, however, clean himself up later in his career and became the Hall of Famer we remember today.

  17. I would prefer they segregate OF gold gloves between CF and corner outfielders. I.e., combine LF and RF candidates and pick the 2 best regardless of whether they played LF or RF.

  19. This was Stearns acting like a fantasy baseball owner and being oblivious to the idea that his actions were going to gut the team like a fish. People on this board recognized it the day the trade happened. People are not robots. Hopefully Stearns realizes that now.
  20. Then skip it. Is it really that hard? The people who run this site are trying to create additional content for people to discuss and they get nothing but complaints. I find the criticism of these articles to be disrespectful. If you don't think they add any value DON'T CLICK ON THEM.
  21. Torts walks into a Costco and asks if they can remove the electronics and home goods sections because he's just there to buy food.
  22. If only they started those threads with the word "Article" you could skip right past them and your nightmare would be over...
  23. If that's true, David Stearns is a complete idiot for extending him. I don't know if it's true so I will reserve judgment. I do know this though--you cannot give a lazy player a huge/long contract and expect things to turn out well.
  24. If he's going to be claimed on waivers (and thus have his contract picked up by another team) why didn't the Padres simply waive/release him instead of foisting him on the Brewers?
  25. Brewers helping other teams shed payroll while sending one of the elite relievers in the game out the door. What the (bleep)? Why do I even root for this team? I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick a football held by Lucy.
