  1. Nipah virus (link to article about Moderna)
  2. This is at least a change of pace. Some of the White Sox Twitterati think the Brewers or Reds and the Sox could be working on a trade involving Nick Madrigal, Codi Heuer and others package for a starting pitcher.
  3. Contract is not guaranteed. Also, he doesn't check the "Played For The Mariners" box for Stearns.
  4. Rosenthal: MLB bracing for a reduction in TV rights fees in pending ESPN deal
  5. She had 1 coworker who had a reaction to the first shot (sick-in-bed for 3 days). We haven't heard of any other reactions. The roll-out is f'd up but that's how that VA runs.
  6. My wife works for a VA hospital. She got her first shot today so we will see what happens.
  7. There is an article in the Athletic, Why missing in-game video meant a poor season for Christian Yelich (and others), about how the Covid-19 protocol about not allowing access to the video room in-game led to batters not being able to adjust. Especially batters like Yelich and Hiura with a leg kick.
  8. Stearns likes Mariners. Looking at his splits he would make a good platoon partner for Gyorko.
  9. If you bring Gyorko back you have to find a platoon partner. Gyoko had a OPS of 1.048 against LHP but a .699 against RHP.
  10. If you can improve and get more runs and get a better player than the available options at 3B/1B then I think you do it. If it is only a slight improvement over Arcia then I agree with you.
  11. I worked at Culver's in high school, I don't know how I didn't gain weight when all the food was 50% off. I always go to Kopp's when I visit WI now since Culver's are all over the place. The last time I went to Culver's was in Arizona. And Kopp's has better frozen custard. Hard to beat a Kopp's burger. I usually stop if I'm up in Milwaukee. And the bacon is from Nueske's.
  12. I'm in IL so I can't watch every Packer game. I've been watching the summary on Youtube after the game and I almost prefer it now. Losses and the 2nd half of the Carolina game are much less frustrating. Same with the Brewers. If I can't watch the game I do watch the quick summaries on MLB.TV.
  13. Bob Nightengale: The #Padres are getting catcher Victor Caratini from the #Cubs in the Yu Darvish trade. Catcher Luis Campusano is staying in San Diego and is not part of the deal.
  14. With the addition of Snell, Cots has them at a projected $139,840,000 payroll. They'll have nine players who could hit arby in 2022, when Davies & Pham ($17M combined) become free agents, and another seven who could hit arby in 2023 when Clevinger ($8M) is a FA and they hold an option on Myers, who makes $22,500,000 in 2021, so they could see $29.5M fall off the books. Snell ($16.6M) and Pomeranz ($10M) are FAs after 2022. Hosmer drops from $21M to $13M after 2022, and Machado drops from $34M to $30M after 2023, so they aren't strapped with long-term deals, and should have some money to offer Tatis an extension, as he would be a FA after 2024. Having a lot of pre-arby guys makes up for having some big contracts on the roster. With their system, they should still have a lot of good prospects coming up to keep a steady stream of quality pre-arby talent on the roster for years. Plus, they could always trade away some of their surplus MLB talent for more young talent should they see the need. They seem to be in a pretty good position to be good for quite a while. Sounds like Davies is going to the Cubs in the Darvish trade.
  15. Hard to do this where Miller Park is located.
  16. It's FS Wisconsin but without their commercials and no other shows like the post game. Just the game and a sh!t-ton of Topps commercials.
  17. This seems like they didn't include 401ks and IRAs.
  18. I think James Paxton is a good comp. He was a super 2 guy who has 3-4 fWAR each year and got 2.3/4.9/8.5/12.5. Add 16M for the first FA year and an option for $18-20M the following year with a $2.5M buyout. 5/$46.5M.
  19. The Walker Buehler article didn't include the option years just the buyouts, both Severino and Marquez had option years. Snell got his contract after winning the Cy Young and putting up a 4.8 fWAR. Severino had Cy Young votes in 2017 and 2018 and fWARs of 5.6 and 5.4 respectively. Marquez had a fWAR of 4.1 before he got his contract and he was in the running for ROY the year before that. Brandon had a good 2020 but I'm not sure those are appropriate comps yet.
  20. Tuesday 12/22/2020 : We talk with MLB free agent Eric Sogard about his next destination, different team cultures and chemistry, and the effects of analytics on players.
  21. Ballpark Digest: MLB has told the chosen 120 MiLB teams that based on feedback to a summary, changes to the proposed PDL will be considered. Look for the full PDL in Jan, followed by 30-day review period. Delays could push 2021 MiLB season launch well into May. So much up in the air, though.
  22. Is that like gas station sushi? No, Kwik Trip isn't that bad. IMHO, their take on the McRib is better and easier to eat on the road.
  23. I thought it was $20,000
  24. Still has 3 options which the Brewers like.
