  1. Both sides want it, they just don't want to offer it for free.
  2. No, a couple of South Side Twitterites were teasing that a big trade was coming that would make people forget about Springer, who they believe is going to the Mets no matter what. At that point there were comments about Yelich & Hader and even a Yelich & Woodruff. No comments as to what the Sox would give up. Just before the Lynn news broke they revealed that the teams the Sox were talking to were the Cubs and Rangers plus a FA OF. Supposedly the same offer to Cubs and Rangers - Dunning for Darvish+Heyward (full contract $) or Lynn+Gallo. Joc Pederson is the FA OF. Oh, and same offer made to the Reds for Sonny Gray but Reds wanted more. Now they're on to rumors about Quintana coming back.
  3. There is chatter that the White Sox are close to a big trade, which may be true. Many of the followers are speculating it is Yelich and Hader together. Edit: They announced the Lynn trade right after I typed this.
  4. Same from Ballpark Digest:
  5. I think this is pretty spot on. Brewers need offense wherever they can get it and not tied to a specific position. If they can get more offense at SS then that's what they should do.
  6. Packer games are about 500 right now. Milwaukee County (City? I live over the border and not sure which is being more strict) has the final say but the number of people who can be in the concourses at any one time is probably the driving factor.
  7. His contract isn't guaranteed so the Brewers could make a change up to early spring training. I think the DH memo was more about posturing.
  8. I had a brief twitter discussion with JJ Cooper about eating bugs over the WS Dash tweets.
  9. I think they are trying to get it done ahead of the scrutinization that will come from Senne v. MLB actually going to trial. They can try to claim credit for improving conditions for minor league players.
  10. Sounds like this isn't about MLB so much but promises made by the Yankees when they sold the team to the current owners. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/staten-island-yankees-file-lawsuit-against-mlb-new-york-yankees/
  11. If MLBtraderumors is accurate with their projections, that could get us La Stella (2 years/$14M) and Charlie Morton (1 year/$8M). As Brewers Numbers has said, we have some "dead money" to account for, so I'd be happy with us being able to land La Stella to shore up our biggest hole. Once again, this makes me think that the Brewers are going to have to make a decision on Hader soon. Trade him and you have some additional players and more money to spend. Don't trade him, and your bullpen is set but you don't have much to spend elsewhere. Charlie Morton got $15M from the Braves.
  12. I think that $7.25M is his first contract with the Royals. They haven't announced the money for the current deal yet. The deal ended up being $7M for 2021, $10M for 2022, and a club option for 2023 at $13M with a $1M buyout so at least 2y/$18M.
  13. I include dead money because they are paying it in this league year even though it's really a bonus for prior performance. It's one of the ways the Brewers split salary across multiple years for players. I don't know how much it affects their decision making for this year though as it is a sunk cost, maybe more this year than others. I think fans just forget sometimes that $73M in payroll is really ~$80M paid. I also don't include deferred money payouts because per the CBA that money was deposited into an account specifically for paying the deferment during the seasons the player played. The Brewers could take in $0 this year and still pay Garza the full $2M without loans, etc. The deferred money funding I have in my numbers are if the Brewers were really dumb and waited until the last possible second to fund the Braun and Cain deferred money. My guess though is those are also already funded and so is Yelich's deferred money.
  14. You can leave Garza's deferred money out of these lists. That is already paid for and sitting in an account specifically for paying that deferment per the CBA. The question is did they already fully fund the accounts for Braun's and Cain's deferments? If they were really smart they already did. If they wait to the last possible time to do it, then its about $2.8M combined.
  15. This is where I have them right now. Clearly this isn't going to be the opening day roster (I hope) but if the season did start tomorrow this is my best guess. I'm trying to do this from the team's perspective so I have Hader at $6.8M and Woodruff at $4.5M, the highest estimates from MLB Trade Rumors, because from a team planning perspective that would be the "worst case scenario". I had them starting the day with a total overall payroll of $95,171,637 so it is a decrease of $11,693,000.
  16. And internet connected cameras, especially for security/alarm services. I have a Eufy doorbell and I was watching a video of my wife leaving with the dog. I found myself wondering for a minute how it knew she was leaving because the video started before the door opened. Realized how dumb I was being pretty quickly as the camera is always on and recording - it just makes the video available to me when it detects movement.
  17. That's interesting. What would be the swap at AAA with Gwinnett dropping? Wisconsin? Beloit? Could the Cubs elevate one of the MWL teams (Kane County in the Chicago burbs?), and leave Iowa, opening that up for the Brewers? What if Nashville is still anti-Brewers and threatening to go Indy?
  18. Twins full list of affiliates: AAA-St. Paul, AA-Wichita, HiA-Cedar Rapids, LoA-Ft. Myers
  19. Looks like the St. Paul Saints paid up. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/12/twins-triple-a-st-paul-saints-double-a-wichita-wind-surge.html
  20. Separate. They are now independent like the American Association.
  21. Sounds like either could happen. From JJ Cooper:
  22. It's live now again.
  23. I think that $7.25M is his first contract with the Royals. They haven't announced the money for the current deal yet.
