  1. Thought that was a routine double play. Could be a big play there. Looks safe on the replay, just couldn't quite get him.
  2. Or do the exact opposite. Hits on 1-2, 0-2 and then drills Jay on 1-2 to load them up with no outs for the heart of the order. Ugh. Frustrating and certainly not what I was hoping for. Still so much time in this game here.
  3. 8 runs is fun. But let's not assume this one is over. Still a ton of game left. Wind blowing out and a lot of power for Chicago. Be really, really awesome if Davies can put up a quick, scoreless inning - whenever we stop hitting that is
  4. The 1 game thing isn't common - double headers are more likely, but it happens. I'd say at least once a year throughout MLB, maybe more. That said, a lot has to happen - a rainout, a mutual off day (that can actually work logistically and from a union rules perspective) We just get it a lot less since our home games have zero chance of being rained out.
  5. Didn't think Braun got enough of that one. Just kept carrying - wind maybe helped it. And wow, Aguilar got unlucky there. Couple feet from a HR, also hit the one area with no ivy and came right back to him. Definitely could have been more than a 1b but good base running as he would have been dead at second. Come on guys, let's put up a crooked number here!!
  6. While it's only one game out of the 75 or so left, this is a big one as far as standings go. 2.5 games is a small lead - 4.5 starts to feel pretty big. With only the one game here, it's a real chance to create some space and maybe put some fear in the Cubs about catching us (if that's not there already that is).
  7. Cubs turn a 3-0 hole into a 5-3 lead late against Tampa. Pretty bad managing by the Rays in both the 6th and 7th innings. And an awful 1-2 pitch to Jay for a 3 run homer. Still a couple innings left but the Cubs are on the way to winning today. Hopefully we can keep pace tonight!
  8. Don't hate it. Certainly don't love it. What scares me about him is that he basically didn't play last year. Didn't really do much this year until the last 10-15 games this season. Was that just a fluke? I dunno. We'll find out I guess. Certainly not who I would have drafted, but I think some of his skill set fits in well. Still need to address the guard spot - I like Mason (doubt he falls) or Thornwell.
  9. The Bucks should absolutely go after Porzingas, him and Giannis together would be nuts. I just don't think we have nearly enough ammo to get him.
  10. I know often times we've been critical of Arcia's offensive, but man, that kid can flat out play SS. He's going to win gold gloves. If he can just hit even marginally average, he'll be worth it for those kind of plays. That was just sick tonight.
  11. Villar and Braun going to Appleton this weekend, could rejoin the team Tuesday...so with Suter, three spots will be needed. One could be Suter sent back down next week I suppose.
  12. Unless there is an injury we haven't yet heard about...this can really only be a few things: Peralta, Torres or Drake DFA - Peralta would certainly seem the most likely Davies or Espino optioned to AAA I'm sure I'm missing something, but those seem far and away the most logical moves.
  13. Definitely agree. Franklin just shouldn't be on the roster. Worse yet, Counsell consistently uses him as the first bat off the bench. Hopefully it all works itself out. Braun and Villar should be back soon. And they'll need roster spots. Brinson likely gets sent back down, but the other one should be Franklin. Of course, this is about the fourth time this scenario has unfolded and each time someone else has gotten hurt or got sent down and he's amazingly held onto his roster spot, despite doing nothing on the field to deserve it.
  14. I just don't get why they've given Peralta, Drake and to some extent Torres such long leashes. Some guys (Marinez, Milone) were essentially sent packing after just a few bad outings it seems. Whereas others have been flat out terrible for weeks and keep their spots on the roster. How badly do you need to pitch to get sent packing on this team? it's almost comical at this point. Wang may not be great, Blazek could still be terrible. But they deserve the shot at this point. The guys we have have gotten several chances and continue to be very, very poor major league pitchers. What are we waiting for??
  15. Nick Franklin not only playing but batting 6th. That's just stellar. I mean, I get it. He's hitting .173, no power. But sure. Let's not only keep him on the roster, but start him. Makes sense.
  16. Glad I was wrong and stayed up for it!!! Going to to pay dearly when the alarm rings at 3:45 but at least I saw a win!! Whew. Some hard shots for outs by Knebel and some major squeezing behind the plate (again).
  17. Thinking of heading to bed. Hope I'm wrong but I feel like I've seen this one already and it doesn't end well.
  18. Good grief. So frustrating. The walks are so infuriating. As is giving up the hr. He gets that guy out they may very well have called the game. Hughes and Torres actually puts up zeros and then Barnes gives up runs. It's always someone. They'll do everything possible for that to not happen now and I fully expect a loss. When it resumes, almost have to go to knebel for the four outs.
  19. Wouldn't surprise me in the least. They seem to always be able to pick up garbage, sprinkle magic dust on it and have them revert back to all star form.
  20. If the Brewers are paying him either way...I guess it wouldn't be the worst thing if he accepted an AAA assignment. I can't possibly imagine he gets an MLB contract after the way he's pitched so far this year.
  21. Glad he's gone. Long overdue. Hopefully not the only one. Glad we made a move, though I wish it was for someone other than Espino to be up here. I really don't understand why they won't bring up Wang, he seems to fill a need the team desperately has.
  22. Scahill did have some bad peripherals this season. I mean there are plenty of other terrible pitchers in our pen, we just need to get rid of them too. There's no salvaging anything from Feliz. They can probably give up on Peralta soon too. This is his third disappointing season in a row and if anything he's been worse in the bullpen. I kind of thought with the move to the pen he would let it fly and his velocity would be up, that hasn't been the case. Torres likely needs a DL stint with the amount of innings he threw last year and what he's done so far this season, he's been completely ineffective for weeks. I think just about everyone here would agree with you. The question is...what are we waiting for?? These moves should have been made weeks ago IMO. It's just gotten to the point of being ridiculous now.
  23. Why not put the rest of it up there? Takes a ton of shine off of the pick. A fifth round flier on a raw power prospect. What kind of shine are you looking for here? I think his point had nothing to do with the player themselves, just that only part of the scouting report was given. He has huge power, which is great, but there's more to the report. If I had just said "He's poor against better pitchers and hits too many ground balls". That obviously is only half the story. I think that was his point.
  24. Right. But the guy we brought up wasn't to fix the bullpen. At least not today. He was going to start. We need to bring up guys to replace Peralta, Feliz, Drake, Torres.
  25. How about Feliz and then maybe Drake? I don't consider them to be real bullpen guys Maybe they can all blow up and then we finally make a move. What I really don't get...is what are we waiting for? Do we have that little faith in ANYONE in the minors? I just have a hard time believing guys in the minors can't be at 6+ ERA.
