  1. Well if Broxton is gone, they've made a roster move (and it's highly unlikely they'd just release him) - which is exactly my point. There may not be a blockbuster coming, but there's got to be moves yet. And if Braun is going to play 1b, where exactly does Aguilar fit on the roster? There's just too many guys right now for this to be the final roster. Could they send Broxton or Phillips down, yes...just doesn't feel like that's the plan right now.
  2. It's not just pitchers - there's a TON of quality position players still on the market too. Seems like everything is hanging on the pitchers (primarily Darvish) signing. I wish things would start happening fast though, this is getting old.
  3. There might not be much news left. If teams are trolling out slander against Santana you just keep him. If he repeats last year his value doesnt go down even with less control. One good years a fluke, 2 is a pattern. He goes 275/350 with 30 bombs he's going to get more interest not less. If Braun to 1b is a thing. The offense is stacked. With cain yelich braun/thames shaw santana you can leave 2b as is and be fine with villar arcia pina and their platoon mates. Pina vogt braun thames villar sogard arcia shaw pina yelich cain santana broxton leave phillips in cs is entirely possible. Aguilar would be news in being cut or traded. If we stack 1-5 that strong we can easily afford to give villar and broxton another shot. Pen at knebel hader albers logan barnes jeffress suter is all but set. Anderson davies chacin woodruff... gallardo guerra wilkerson leaves 1 spot until nelson returns. You'd like to have 1 more but it could be as simple as corbin odorizzi, any of the big arms or even scratch and dent options still out there. We are at roughly 95 mil. So far they've invested wisely. Yelich is special. Cains been worth 35mil per year over his last few years. They feel he's not only getting older, but wiser. They believe 16 per is a value and 2 more 5 war seasons would make them right. Plus he's plus D and low K. Everything about him fits the philosophy alter. Then chacin cheap. Gallardo logan and albers super cheap. 2 big splashes or not. They are being very frugal and specifically targeted. This could be where the offseason ends up. Basically we were pretty decent last year. Broxton was bad. As is lost 2 months of walker. Thames will play less and aguilar will be gone. In their place is cain and yelich. That more than offsets walker. By a lot. The pen was bad til hader jeffress swarzak. Hader jeffress back for a full year. Logan over drake. Albers replaces hughes. Say we lose 100ip from nelson and gain 40-60 from anderson. We cut out 257 ip from garza guerra willy espino. Thats now woodruff chacin gallardo/wilkerson. Even down nelson its hard to imagine the back end of this rotation being worse, if not picking up a lot of slack, vs ladt years crap. We are already, as is, a lot better than any point last year. There almost has to be at least a move or two coming. It might be signing a pitcher or trading for one, but I can't imagine they're finished. And the roster right now quite honestly makes zero sense. Something has to be brewing. As previously stated, it's probably all being held up by Darvish. Need him to do something, then some dominoes can start to fall. If the Brewers miss out on the 4 starters, you'd think a trade would almost have to happen.
  4. If Braun can actually play 1b (he says he can), and we can acquire another starter (Cobb??), and we can flip Broxton or Phillips for a bullpen guy...lot of if's, but if we can do all that, keeping Santana makes a ton of sense and a lineup that is very, very scary.
  5. WCC, agree with what you have....but what did we do with Aguilar in that scenario? Is he flipped for a bullpen arm?
  6. The roster might be accurate, but I have to imagine if Braun and Santana are on the roster, that Braun will be playing 1b against lefties with Santana in the OF. Hard to imagine the Brewers want one of those bats on the bench on an every day basis.
  7. I don't believe they'd be "stuck". They couldn't take any long term contracts on but if the Brewers are a legit WS contender come July, I think Mark would be ok taking on a contract for the remainder of the year..I mean, even the biggest contracts would only cost $7-8 million for the last two months of the season. But we'd have a hard time moving forward, as the payroll can't likely go past that forever. And we'll have arby raises and things like that as well, without much money coming off the books in the next couple years (at least without trades).
  8. If we keep Santana, Braun is either gone or at first base. And if it’s first, Thames has to go. Right??
  9. There's other options though. What if it's Lynn/Yelich? Or Cobb/Yelich? Or Arreitta/Yelich? Personally, I think Yelich will be quite a bit better than Cain over the next 4 seasons. I'd much rather have him and any of those pitchers I think.
  10. I’d love to hear from him all day...but I’m sure HH has a job or kids or some form of life that doesn’t involve posting for us all the time. There’s no reason to not believe him. It’s entirely possible there’s not much to report right now either.
  11. It depends what the "friends" comment is. It's really hard to say anything is an overpay without knowing the offers and who might be coming back. The longer this stretches out though, the less like I think an actual trade is to happen.
  12. Nope, knew none of those guys. Only guy I wonder whatever happened too was Freeway who presided in the bleachers of old County Stadium. Talking to Freeway was like talking to an imaginary friend. Except Freeway was real...... but I'm not sure if Freeway thought he was real himself. Hey, but that was Freeway. He's still around, or was a couple years ago for sure as I talked to him at a Brewers game. The imaginary friend thing is a perfect way to describe him. ha!!
  13. Just came to post that. It's all over Twitter. Per Adrian Wojnarowski Bucks made move on Kidd based upon dropping into the 8th seed in the East, frayed relationships in organization and general non-alignment, league sources tell ESPN. Bucks job will be most sought after of offseason, largely because of @Giannis_An34.
  14. Vegas already has an NHL team as of this year...so yeah, Austin
  15. I would probably tend to agree with you, but that would require ANOTHER state of the art arena to be built specifically for hockey. I have a hard time seeing that happening unless it's like 95% privately funded.
  16. Ah. Well I was close at least. I knew it was something like that. I've always wondered if I'd care about hockey if Wisconsin had an NHL team when I was growing up (I'm 36). I really only watch the playoffs and don't really cheer for anyone in particular. But I remember hearing the story from my dad about how close it was to happening - just couldn't remember the exact details. While not impossible, I just see it as very unlikley. And if the Blackhawks thing is true (which seems completely an utterly ridiculous, see as we're 100 miles away, different state and we have several other pro teams), but if its true, it's incredibly hard to imagine they'd allow that - though MLB went through it with the Nats/Orioles I'd imagine too?
  17. The Bradley Center was actually built with the NHL in mind and they had an expansion franchise setup to come here. Then the NHL asked for something like an additional $100 million and the city balked. Probably our one and only chance at getting one. Initially, the new arena wasn't going to include ice, but I believe they changed their minds on that - as they want to host the Frozen Four and things like that - at least keeps the NHL door open, but I highly doubt it ever happens. https://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/news/2016/04/25/milwaukeebucks-arena-will-include-ice-rink-to-host.html
  18. Lost cost, low risk, with the potential to get lucky with a high reward if he somehow find his previous form (unlikely). Can't really complain.
  19. What's worse...is that if it's the Pats vs the Vikings, I'd actually have to cheer for the Patriots for the first time in...well, almost forever. Jags/Eagles would be awesome. I wish the games were reversed, I want the Jags to win this weekend, but I think the Pats have a much better chance against Minnesota than Jax does.
  20. I'd have to say that any team that is a favorite to win the division, and thus make the playoffs, still has a "World Series Window". They may not be the favorites again, but as we've seen in just about every sport, all you have to do is get in the playoffs, and anything can and will happen from there. The Cubs are almost certainly a heavy favorite to at least make the playoffs for the next few seasons.
  21. Yeah, it blocked my stickers but I put it on the front license plate - where there's nothing to block.
  22. Not saying I would want to do it but Thames graded out poorly defensively at 1B and either Shaw or Moose would very likely be an upgrade there. Exactly my point as well. I don't think they should do it. But why move Shaw? I think he'd be just fine at 1b and IMO an overall better hitter in general. That said...just don't sign Moustakas.
  23. Just throwing it out there, but I'd much rather keep both of them and move Shaw to 1b. And look to see if we can move Thames.
  24. Well they do punish them...if you're in the B10. Being in the SEC seems to overrule anything else.
