  1. This. I actually think Peralta is perfect for the pen. I think if he knew he was only pitching the one inning, he can easily get into the upper 90s with his fastball, could make a big difference. I hope they don't just make him the long man, as he'll encounter the same problems. I'd really like to see what he can do going one inning at a time.
  2. In the four games where Feliz has taken the loss he is: 0-4 with 1 blow save, 9 earned runs allowed in 3.1 innings pitched, walking 2, striking out 3 and allowing 4 homers. In the other 13 games he has pitched: 0-0 with 8 saves, 2 earned runs in 12.1 innings pitched, walking 7, striking out 13 while allowing 0 homers. Stats say otherwise. Yeah, but those innings count. That's FOUR games where our top relief pitcher has taken a loss. You can't just look at when we're winning. He needs to get guys out. Tie games like today might as well be a save situation, where if he gives up the lead, it's likely a loss. You're saying we should overlook all these other games just because they weren't actual save situations? 9 walks in 15.2 innings is pretty bad. 4 homeruns in the same 15 innings is TERRIBLE. For any relief pitcher.
  3. Being a closer means you have to pitch the 9th inning - sometimes with a lead, but often times teams use those guys in tie games in the 9th when they are at home. You're expecting your "best" reliever to be able to get you to the 9th. And he's been flat out terrible in those spots. It would be one thing if he was getting bad luck, but he's walking a ton of guys. He's giving up a huge amount of homeruns and despite throwing really hard, isn't really striking many guys out. Those are all massive red flags when you're in the closer spot.
  4. Well that wasn't at all predictable huh?? Frustrating. The error doesn't help. But that's no excuse for walking the leadoff guy and throwing one right down the middle to Betts (who I realize is good, but the Brewers certainly pitched him incredibly poorly in this series). I've had just about enough of Feliz at this point. Let Barnes or Knebel give it a shot.
  5. Anyone else feel like Feliz won't get us through this inning still tied?? Ugh, hope I'm wrong. Edit - walking the leadoff guy sure doesn't help. Is it me or has the bullpen done this a TON lately??
  6. Not a great start. Error directly leads to a run in the first. Broxton gets caught trying to steal third. And now the bases are loaded (2 from walks). The walks recently have really gotten out of hand.
  7. The difference with K-Rod, even while he was good, was that nobody seemed to actually want him. Nobody was busting down doors to sign him as a FA (so we kept doing it). Should an all-star closer have netted more? Probably. But when nobody wants the guy (signs of aging, the off field stuff, etc.), we probably weren't exactly getting a ton of amazing offers.
  8. I think that's true in any sport, on any level. People like winning. Plain and simple. It's easier to do that extra workout or watch some film or whatever else you can think of to get better when you can actually see the results on the field. Losing is tough. And from my experience, it takes a toll on you mentally to lose all the time. Harder to focus, harder to really care, etc.
  9. Getting an MRI today on his knee. There's some concern it's ACL related. That would be a serious injury of course...
  10. Anyone else get highly disappointed/annoyed when they see a Sky Sox lineup and both Brinson and Cordell aren't in it? I understand guys need days off, but to see Kirk, De Jesus and Wren all in the lineup at the same time just irks me. Can't spread those out a bit? I'm sure there's a reason for it, I just find those two, especially Brinson, as guys I try to track as much as possible I guess.
  11. Not sure I agree with Wren being a poor AAA player - he doesn't have a ton of power, but he's hit for a pretty high average in AAA and overall throughout his minor league career. Doesn't strike out a ton, has decent OBP numbers along with some steals. Is he an all star? No. But at some point we need to take a look to see if any of that translates to the MLB level and if not, then why bother keeping him in AAA at all? He certainly can't do much worse than Franklin.
  12. Charles signed with the Broncos, so we can rule that one out.
  13. I have no issues with them signing him to a very small contract and giving him a look. That said, he pitched horrible in spring and didn't really do anything to earn a spot. Quite frankly, they only kept him because they knew they could send the others down and Milone could give them a spot start if needed or be the long man since we had very few off days in April. Don't necessarily agree with it, but that's what happened. And the logic isn't overly terrible given the situation. He then had a chance to earn his spot the next month...and didn't. And Stearns did the right thing. Doesn't make much difference if he accepts or not, we can always use bullpen guys in the minors. And maybe he figures it out, dominates and gets another shot later in the year (doubt it), but since we're paying him either way if he goes unclaimed, I'd rather have in the minors than not at all. It was a low risk move, didn't necessarily pan out, but there was nothing wrong in taking a shot.
  14. I think it is just because it is the next major givaway day. If it were sold out or with very few special ticket packages left, I can't imagine they'd be pushing it that hard. Maybe, I really can't remember but they're still advertising the Bobblehead seats being available. I think only 5000 of them are made...people obviously haven't been jumping at the chance to get one. We'll see I guess.
  15. They've been pushing the Star Wars one quite heavily on TV lately - talking about it each broadcast, advertising it behind the plate, etc. I take that to mean they have a lot of special tickets left to sell. Could be just that one as they've done the Star Wars thing many times and it's Broxton - not a hugely popular player. But could it be a sign that people are just tired if it? It was a cool concept when it was 1-2 special bobbles, but having 7-8, plus the 3 all fan ones....maybe it's overkill?
  16. Yup. It was to an extreme. My point in that is NOT everybody DESERVES a second chance. It's a noble idea but is it a prudent idea in EVERY situation? Of course not. I don't know Mixon's situation and I'm not saying I wouldn't draft Mixon. I would probably welcome him with open arms quite honestly. That said, each individual needs to be vetted and employers need to do what is prudent. They don't need to simply offer a blanket "everybody deserves a second chance", because it's just not prudent. Yeah, I agree with you on that. And I think they all do, and often times teams aren't willing to take the risk - I've seen on Twitter at least 6 teams have removed Mixon from the board, guys fall all the time due to this.
  17. Obviously the Hernandez thing is about as bad as it gets, but that's taking it to an extreme. There have been lots of guys that had bad character or made a stupid decision as a kid (I think we all made some dumb choices in college) that worked out just fine. People do mature and people do learn from them. I think it comes down the interview process, that none of us can see. Did they learn from it? Do they realize the mistake? Or is someone where like maybe with Hernandez, they just seems like a bad or entitled person that is going to do more bad stuff down the road. There's no right answer in there, and it's incredibly hard to try to predict that. But they do their research - interviews with the player, coaches, etc. Will their draft stock hurt and cost them millions because of the mistakes? Most likely. But I do believe that everyone deserves a second chance, or at least the opportunity to earn a second chance.
  18. Does he fit a need for the Packers? Yes. Is another edge rusher a higher priority than the secondary? IMO...No. I'm fine with the Watt pick, but I think a lot of people are just stuck on him because he's a Badger. While it would be cool, I agree with Brew4u, talent is way more important than school. That said...I don't think Watt makes it to the Packers pick.
  19. I was just barely 5 years old at the time. I don't remember watching or listening to it - I'm sure I was with my family for Easter Sunday (most of which were big Brewers fans most of my life - and still are). What I do remember however, is getting a Rob Deer starting lineup figure a year or two later (which I still have). From that I day on, I remember hearing about the Easter Sunday game and team streak. While I wasn't there in person, I've heard the play by play for almost 29 years, seen the highlights a million times. It's almost one of my favorite Brewers memories - despite not actually remembering it myself.
  20. I'd be stunned if we go WR in round 1 unless it's somebody that we just absolutely can't pass up. Yes, WR could be an area of need, but certainly not this year. Taking a WR in the first round with the idea that they might start in 3 years is a bit of a stretch for me when you consider all of the holes we have with the current roster. I'd be all for taking a WR in rounds 3-4 or a few late round fliers. But I think they'll try to fill a hole. There's so many DB and other positions to choose from. What I really hope happens is that a QB slides to our pick and we can trade back with one of the teams in the second round. Pickup another pick or two and only move down a few slots. Could be a bidding war depending on who is there.
  21. Yeah, that's garbage. The guy has 7 homeruns, not 20. Guys have hit homeruns like this before, I believe the record is 7 games in a row (Mench I think for sure as a Ranger??). To imply a guy is cheating just because he hit you hard is bush league. Add that to fact that of course, Thames was "randomly" drug tested last night after the game. Just garbage to me.
  22. Anyone happen to watch the Warriors game today? Draymond Green blocked a dunk attempt on a 2-1 break. He went CRAZY. Screamed. Pumped his fists. Oh, and he didn't get a technical. Not even a comment. Really seemed like the technical was a result of Derozen's feelings being hurt and him reacting like a baby. Still a joke. The NBA can (and should) rescind it. Here's a clip. His reaction is certainly much more vocal and celebratory than Giannis IMO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1v3WKqTQSE
  23. Anyone going to have any extras of the standard all fan bobbleheads to sell?? Apparently none of them are in my ticket package this year...so ideally I'd love to buy one of each of them. Thanks!
