  1. Remember when PPV's used to have crazy things happen? Heel turns, a superstar returning, a McMahon re-emerging or something? Virtually nothing at all happened, no storylines ended, no storylines really moved at all. A couple of them stagnated, and now we have this Sheamus part. It was just awful. Not to mention as others said that the first 20 guys in the rumble were all pretty weak, so you really had no stars at all to watch until the last 15 minutes. Horrible PPV in my opinion, and that means a lot from me, as I love the Royal Rumble.
  2. If the Cardinals get Oswalt, we all know what will happen. We've seen it time and again. They'll sign him, and even though he's getting older, getting worse and has health issues. He'll wind up on the Cardinals, and start pitching like it's the early 2000's again while somehow staying healthy all year long.
  3. I don't understand how MU can fall behind and come out completely flat game after game. They keep winning, but at some point that's going to just not happen, especially against good teams. If they can play the same way in the first half that they do in the second half...watch out. It's really too bad they blew that Georgetown game earlier in the year, they had that one in the bag and would be tied at the top with Syracuse.
  4. I agree completely. A feud from now to Mania would be great, and that's not possible if the champ loses the belt before it gets there. Especially when a lot of times the champ envokes his madeup "rematch clause". So in the rare event that CM Punk for example loses it at Elimination...normally the rematch is the next PPV, which is Mania. Which then makes absolutely no sense at all, if the RR winner was feuding with him. So as you guys have said...it really cheapens the Elimination Chamber, because it's very very unlikely they would have the title change hands. I think it's one of the cooler matches they have all year, they just have it timed in a horrible, horrible spot in the PPV rotation.
  5. I have to disagree on Evans. Last night his jumper wasn't falling, but he's made plenty of those this season. I'm very confident in him shooting from 15 feet out. I cringe if it's further than that, but he's made a few threes this year too.
  6. 8 weeks would be late March sometime, with about 12-15 games still remaining I think. 12 weeks would be late April, which could mean very few games, if any remaining. If we're out of the playoff picture by then, there would be no point. If we're somehow still in it, he could be back in time to shake some rust off and play in the playoffs.
  7. Nice job putting the roster together Mr. Hammond. 15 players on the team and you can't fill even ONE of those spaces with a backup center? Gooden at center is laughable. I guess we could reach out to Joel Przybilla. I know he still lives in this area and is at least ok. Though the fact that nobody wanted him says something, considering he plays a premium position. He can't be worse than Gooden though.
  8. At the time of that draft, I think almost everybody had Bogut as the consensus #1 pick. It just wasn't a great overall draft class with a dominate player in it. Bogut was great in college, was young and played a premium position. Unfortunately, Bogut never really got any better or developed into the stud a lot of people thought he could be.
  9. Other than minor league deals, I really don't see them adding anyone. Or I guess maybe for league minimum. Maybe someone like Todd Coffey for example. Aside from the money, we really don't have any roster space at this point either. Pretty much every spot seems set, other than perhaps some depth in the minors.
  10. If HHH came back and didn't steal the main event, that would be fine. But how is it helping the business at all? WM is their biggest PPV of the year, and I'm sure it's the most bought/watched of all of them as well. That is the time to let younger guys shine, not have HHH come back for one of his 2 matches that year and be in the main event. In my opinion. Same with with Taker, I like him and find him pretty cool, but does he need to be in the main event?
  11. I love how HHH basically never wrestles any more, yet somehow will just thrust himself into the main event at WM. He's had what, one match in the last 3-4 months? That atrocious sledge hammer thing against Kevin Nash, then basically disappeared again. Yet somehow, the WWE feels that people will want to see him in the main event. It's just silly. People wanted to see him when he was in DX, but his time has passed. He's just simply not the draw that he used to be. Maybe they'll turn him heel and that will spark some interest, but otherwise I'm just tired of seeing him at this point. Even moreso of the Undertaker, who virtually never wrestles, can't carry a much at this point and was just horrible at WM last year. Plus, it's not like they're going to have him lose anyway. I wish they would both just sorta go away.
  12. I know Ersan played extremely well last night, but with Bogut out, I would have thought guys like Leuer and Sanders would get more playing time, but that wasn't really the case as they combined for 10 minutes total. I just don't understand the thinking behind the playing time at this point. In my opinion, this team is no better than .500, if that, why would it be such a bad thing to give young guys like Leuer, Sanders and Harris time on the court to develop a little bit, see what they have? Leuer played well in his starts I thought, then he struggles defensively against two all-star players (Bosh and Stoudamire) and has logged a total of 12 minutes or so in the next three games, even less for Harris. It frustrates me. It's not like we have all stars playing in front of them, it's guys like Mike Dunleavy.
  13. For what it's worth....Tom H says in his blog that he has it on "very good authority" that the Brewers do not have a verdict yet and this is not any sort of indication that he is being suspended.
  14. This is obviously all speculation, but the one thing I don't understand....let's just assume this is all true and our speculations are right. How exactly would Braun and his defense team know about the other positive tests? Isn't that all confidential? The players themselves might not have even been told about it if their samples were just thrown out. Making that even more confusing, is that I don't think the testing area knows the players/teams they are testing...and if those tests are simply thrown out, they might not even know whose they were. How could anyone know about them? And how could they know what players they were, where they were tested, etc? Unless it's not just Braun appealing tests, but that seems far fetched, I think someone would have leaked that by now. If all of this is true, and two tests were insanely high and thrown out and Braun's was also super high but maybe just within range, I think he would have a good argument to get his case thrown out to due faulty equipment, tampering, etc. But who knows. That tidbit could have been made up for all we know.
  15. My take on it was that two other Brewers were found to have levels so far out of whack that the tests were thrown out. And that perhaps Braun's defense is that the testing was flawed that day. If other tests from the same day, same team, same testing area were so high that they had to be thrown out. Isn't it entirely possible that his test was also wrong? I might not have been so high as the others, but it was like 2-3 times HIGHER than ANY other positive test ever. So while his may have been theoretically possible, that if those other 2 were so far skewed, that his almost had to be as well?
  16. The team basically controls the right to the name, so if they choose to take it with them, they are more than welcome to do so. Hence why you have teams like the Utah Jazz, LA Lakers, etc. Sometimes, they change the name and the new team moving in doesn't even take the old one (like the Oilers) and sometimes it's arranged that the name stays, like the Cleveland Browns. I just think that as an owner of a team, you can call them anything you want. There is something to be said for historical significance and whatnot, but it's their team and they can do what they want. Personally, I like the name Astros, but that's just me. What I think sucks is that you have a team (not moving) just getting a new name. If the Brewers were to do that, think about all the hats, shirts, jerseys, etc, that you own that in theory, you might want to replace. That's a tremendous expense and I think would really suck as a fan. Might be part of the reason you almost never see a name change without the team moving. I can't even think of one to be honest, other than a few that were changed (like Marquette) due to political reasons.
  17. anyone listen today? Just curious if Dan Patrick said anything about it this morning.
  18. MLB is in a weird spot, because this should have never been leaked. It can be spun either way though as others have stated: 1 - It works as it caught one of our biggest stars 2 - It works because the players do have the right to an appeal and in the rare event that a mistake happens, we have protection in place to prevent players from wrongfully being suspended.
  19. Huh. I listened to that clip too and didn't hear anything about 2 other Brewers. I could have missed it though. After my initial excitement, I've kinda mellowed. Who knows who this source is or if it's even credible. I'd still be just downright stunned if he somehow wins this appeal.
  20. Teams as low as eleven CAN make the Final Four, but it's really far and in between. The tournament is perfect the way it is (minus the play in games). Going to anything bigger than this just seems silly and counter-productive.
  21. After hearing the audio on it, I'm a little less optimistic. Sounds like 2 teammates may have had spikes that were so outragious that they were thrown out. Now if that's the case and Brauns was also really, really high but not thrown out, then maybe. I'm not sure exactly though how Braun's camp could possibly know of those other spiked tests though if this is all confidential.
  22. It could mean that maybe there was something wrong with the testing process too if suddenly players that had always been clean, all tested the same day, all wind up with tests higher than ever seen before. Heyman is saying weeks...that would be a surprise, since all indications beforehand were that a verdict would likely be addressed much sooner. The longer it goes the better? Hard to say. Just wish we knew, and now that there is at least one source saying he might be exonerated, this stretch is going to take forever!!!
  23. Whats the deal with Jon Leuer lately? He's started the last two games, played 4-5 minutes in the first quarter and then never saw the floor again the rest of the way. I knew Leuer and Harris' minutes would dip when Luc and Dunleavy returned, but that was pretty drastic. Why even bother to start him then? It's this type of coaching that irritates me. This team isn't going anywhere this year, and yes, they need to win games, but also need to develop the rookies some and at least give them some time. Both played well in that last stretch before these two games and now either one can barely find the floor.
  24. I sure hope there is, this system badly needs impact bats. I'm all about pitching, but they have ignored the offense the last few years in the draft, and that's very problematic. Obviously we can't replace Prince, but to get the highest pick possible (I think), would sure be nice.
  25. Where did you guys hear this stuff? Dan Patrick? I can't turn the radio on at work sadly.
