  1. "Are you talking to me?" "No, my son is also named Bort!"
  2. Oh man that is funny. Uncanny. I almost wonder if I didn't scan the radars in Zebulon, Georgia! 😅
  3. Looks like that weather in Zebulon has skipped town until tomorrow by my glances at the regional radar. We 'should' have baseball tonight. Maybe we see Josh Adamczewski back in the line up some time this week. That would be a significant return to the line up. I'm not counting on it, however. Backs can be oh so tricky to get right.
  4. LHP Brandon Knarr was moved to the full season IL today. Man, when is the last time he was healthy enough to pitch in a competitive game? Early 2023? I guess he did try to get back via some ACL rehab outings last season. I feel for the young man. It has been a true grind to try amd get back. Can not be easy.
  5. - (Sighs) LHP Brandon Knarr has been placed on the full-season IL by the Biloxi Shuckers - C Edgardo Ordonez has been activated off the 7-Day IL by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers - 17-year-old Venezuela's RHP Raymond Sarmiento (2025 International FA Class) was assigned to the DSL Brewers Gold
  6. Yeah that's what I'm hoping. Current weather shows 50% chance of T-Storms and showers through the evening hours. We may not find out tonight, regardless.
  7. It may have been a stomach bug but still no sign of RHP Bryce Meccage scheduled this week since leaving his last start early: Hopefully, it's nothing too serious for the young flamethrower! Maybe, we'll see him piggy back out of the Pen? Maybe he's Mr. TBD Sunday?
  8. I don't think so, no. I think, especially after last season's woes, the plan is to pray he stays healthy; builds confidence; and builds reps. Then I would imagine the org wants to see him build on a hot streak by ending the season with Nashville in hopes he is knocking on the door. If he can keep up some semblance of this form (he's inevitably going to cool off some) through the season I think he's knocking on the door early next year or in spring training. As is, the Brewers will likely tinker around with Durbin/Ortiz/Black/Dalbec etc. or a trade deadline acquisition before they force the Wilken issue. Last year's season was essentially a lost season with that HBP to the face. I think patience here and seeing where the dust settles in a couple months is the best initial approach. Super excited he's having this success and is attacking the baseball again. Do I want him to just play like this all the time and get the opportunity to play for everyday duties in Milwaukee? Absolutely. I just don't see that route happening even with another torrid month. Next stop...Nashville.
  9. So, in other words, the T-Rats are doing the heavy lifting of fulfilling more reasonable expectations and outcomes of what we one might reasonably expect from such a young outfit? Someone has to lay the anchor!
  10. The thing that makes Dalbec so intriguing for the Sounds is he has uniformly split time at 1B/LF/RF this season when not playing 3B. In a series against the Sounds just two weeks ago (in which he raked to a tune of 9-for-16, 3 2B, 2 HR) before his call up Dalbec opened in RF, then shifted to the Hot corner, then shifted to 1B, and then returned to RF. I am of the personal opinion he will platoon at 3B and LF for the Sounds as a platoon member with Tyler Black when he returns while offering the occasional fill in and rest at 1B and RF. I can't imagine the Brewers are thrilled with the production they are getting from current regular LF work of Adam Hall day in and day out for Nashville.
  11. Does Kuehner pitch twice in a six game span or does he have an identical Twin I am unaware of?!
  12. Well, having won four straight vs Pensacola, the Shuckers are no tied in first place with the Blue Wahoos at 19-13 overall. My goodness what a turnaround from this young squad. Thank the heavens. Let's keep it going!
  13. For anyone wanting to go back and view: 3-2 count. Men on 1st and 2nd. He walks the batter on an outside heater (third walk of the frame and fourth of his evening, I thinkseth) 3:53:37 he comes to a pause. Then delivers. Misses just high and outside on a heater. Immediately walks off the mound to the 3B side and grabs his throwing elbow. He is then seen holding the elbow throughout the mound visit. Sigh. I think we all know that is not a good sign ever for a young hurler.
  14. Still mildly and absurdly pleasantly shocked we just randomly signed Bobby Dalbec. He is legit one of my absolute favorite Minor League vets. Absolutely killed the Sounds repeatedly in their recent series.
  15. Yes and my oh my what a difference. The IFA and young drafted arms and youth from 2024 certainly seems to be a different breed early. Pretty exciting. We can onlyhope this year's classes stack up!
  16. Trying to do Jim proud by bringing this here ( @markedman5 mentioned this HERE). Adding INF/OF Bobby Dalbec as a straight FA add in early May to the Sounds outfield group is absurdly zesty. He was an absolute problem when the Sounds faced the Knights a couple series back. Legit major power in his bat to all fields. This is a great add to help add meaningful high end vet depth to that group.
  17. Let's give them their flowers, shall we: 2024: We are looking at the combined works of Jeremy Accardo and then the step in 'acting pitching coach' work of Patrick McGuff who had previously been the bullpen coach. If I recall correctly, he stepped in to fill that primary role some time in late June? If we remember, Accardo left the Brewers org to become the pitching coach at Arizona State. 2025: The duo of Bryan Leslie (who I think spends his in-game time as the bullpen coach) and newcomer (Pitates org) Justin Meccage. This is Leslie's first day-to-day action with an affiliate but it's important to note he's been a lead strategist in the pitching development program as well as an organization assistant pitching coordinator. This is Meccage's first action in Triple-A as he has been a bullpen coach and assistant pitching coach at the MLB level (Pirates) since 2018. I would say the early returns of this dynamic duo have been phenomenal. I would also recommend skimming through Jeff Hem's word press page to listen in on their early season interviews. Nod to Jim who dutifully posts these near every week of the season HERE. You will find, as you scroll, an interview apiece for Leslie and Meccage.
  18. This is the way. I sincerely hope the Brewers recognize they have playable cards as Sellers. Given what we are seeing at Low-A and beyond to the lowest levels (prayer hands in full we nailed another DSL class!) there is truly very little need to force our hands. Let's build into our strengths and add to it. Zero need to panic anything. The team can still turn it around, obviously, and we hope they do. I'm just saying it's OK to have a down year. Good teams and really good organizations don't compound things. We are witnessing interesting times. How will the organization respond?
  19. Very clearly Yerlin is broken again. I am starting to come to terms with the distinct possibility I will never see him put it together for more than two consecutive outings in my lifetime. This makes me soooo sad, my people. When he is right he has MLB written all over his tools. When he is right opposing announcers are gushing. BUT, he's just oh so rarely right. I will now go to a dark cave in the distant hills to perform a wailing ritual.
  20. Goodness. That is incredible. I am just so dang happy for him. Such a wonderful young man to boot. Makes it all the sweeter.
