C Ramón Rodríguez is doing above and beyond what you could hope for from a veteran back-up Catcher. He continues to be one of the most unheralded plus players in the system. Hit his first dinger today in a 2-for-3 line so far. Hitting 0.356 with a 0.930 OPS in 50 PA's (11 K:5 BB) just speaks to the quality of player I witnessed pre-injury for a season plus. This is the first time I sat out an NFL Draft in over 25 years. I went to an Air BnB with my wife to invest in our relationship. I say this to say: Being separated - both physically and mentally - from the Draft itself makes me appreciate @LouisEly even more. I just love your level-headed approach. That's funny. I didn't like Payne's swing last season but I love it this season - it's consistent and repeating with what might actually be an ascending and unknown floor and ceiling. Last year he lost his swing post-injury and then on multiple occasions the tweaks and timing got all out of sorts - it gave me EBJ concerns. BUT, the youth was on his side and the make up and quality of person is just as solid as it comes. I think we are just scratching the surface. I encourage you to get more excited.😅

Do we know if that had anything to do with the Tin Caps' manager getting ejected? Or was that due to balls and strikes issues when Fowler was dealing?

None of the above? It's still April. I know they'd all like to be finding more success but we aren't even a month old yet. I think Pratt starting off extremely slow is extremely on par with expectations. He's very young for the League and his hit tool just hasn't caught up to his defense and overall make-up. It is likely going to take time. Wilken is very streaky as is. Jett is just getting started in a new org and is likely pressing. Lotta season left regardless. Birchard's ongoing walk issues are certainly notable and continually concerning. Walks don't work in a bullpen role either.

Was not anticipating a 6-1 Wild drubbing of Dallas at Dallas Game 1. Hard to imagine another game in this series that lopsided -Wild dominated in every facet throughout. Stars are a notoriously bad Game 1 team so I am not reading all that much into it. BUT, if Faber and Hughes play like they did G1 throughout the playoffs? And Boldy plays that motivated and willful? Wild are going to be a tough tough Out.

Thank you for writing this, Jim. Garcia's evolution over the past year plus has been awesome to witness. He's truly grown up as a player before our eyes and become one of the most dependable utility players in the entire system. It seems like only yesterday when he was so clearly prone to the swing-and-miss at off-speed off the plate with little plate discipline and high K rates. It's a testament to his work and resolve - it's not all too long ago when he began the season in Low-A as a top 10 prospect! I am always amazed by players who fall out of prospect notoriety and recognition, become afterthoughts, and then reclaim their career paths. It is no easy feat.

Love the current small samples we are seeing at the dish from a healthy Eduardo Garcia and, out of the Blue, a sudden renaissance for Darrien Miller. It appears Miller caught wind of 2025 Matt Wood and stole his thunder. Unfortunately they are a combined 2-for-40 CS 🙃
