  1. Blake Burke with another gorgeous stab to get the second out in the 7th. He's so much better than advertised. Just really good hands over there.
  2. Sounds still have a No-No with only six outs need to complete the feat.
  3. I only speak RHP John Holobetz right now. I apologize. Meanwhile, Daniel Corniel just dealt at Quad Cities baby in the bottom of the 6th. Three up. Three down. Included a ridiculous swinging K slider to leave the inning. He just ripped that pitch.
  4. Through 16 1/3 innings, the Muddies have outscored Myrtle Beach 23-1. Meanwhile, Luis Pena has his second error tonight - a throwing error we can not see - and he now has four errors in just his fifth game played. Ruh roh?
  5. Blake Burke picked off swiping 3B - gorgeous throw gets him. Guilarte hits into the inning ending DP. Dang. ON to the bottom half. 0-0.
  6. Back-to-Back poke singles from Blake Burke and Matt Wood - who pokes a 79 mph bloop single into CF - has two T-Rats aboard with nobdoy down in the top of the 6th. Let's see if they can add something to this 0-0 affair.
  7. ABSOLUTELY THRILLED TO NOT BE ABLE TO WATCH RHP JOHN HOLOBETZ DEAL 4.0 IP OF 0 H, 1 BB, 7 K ACTION. THANK YOU CUBS.
  8. Man, RHP Zach Peek has some stuff. He sits 92-93 mph on his heater but it has so much more life given the high-quality nature of his curve ball. Really interesting two-pitch dominant mix out of the Pen. He works around the lazy Eduardo Garcia throwing error (his third of the season) and gets out with a K and a ground out after a fly out to LF. 0-0 at QC headed to the 6th.
  9. Logan through 5 IP. 8 K (8th looking on a challenged change-up on the outer black by Seigler). NO Hits. Just an outing.
  10. In a 0-0 game at Quad Cities, Peek induces an absurdly routine grounder to Eduardo Garcia at SS and he gets sloppy and throws a really poor ball to 1B. E 6. Man aboard. Meanwhile, the speedy Oliva charges a shallow liner again and makes a casual sliding catch to preserve the 'No No'. Man, he is really solid out there.
  11. RHP Logan Henderson still pitching into the fifth. He has yet to allow that white pillow thing to qualify as a certain something. Just hitting low 60's pitch count.
  12. OF Garrett Spain leads the Sounds (leading 3-0) fourth half with a beauty of an oppo double to the LF corner. Man, Spain has really pleasantly surprised since his early season roster addition. We have to be tickled with his production and effort.
  13. RHP Zach Peek inherits Birchard's two free passes and calmly shuts it down with a gorgeous controlled three-pitch K. Noice! 0-0 and we are on to the 5th.
  14. Birchard ends his night with consecutive free passes. It continues to rear its head. I definitively see progress. Yet, I see repeated issues of either just missing or getting just squeezed OR losing his stuff randomly arm-side from time-to-time. This is what we call 'Development'.
  15. Holobetz now has completed 3.0 IP with 6 K. That's what I'm talking about!
  16. Meanwhile, Birchard is really finding another level here in the fourth. He's at a pitch count of 64. He has two down coming off a K. 1-2 count. Two fouled back. Misses high on a heater. 2-2 count. He is called for a pitch clock violation which is really odd given the digital clock left of home plate read two seconds. He misses low for a free pass. Man on first. That's his third free pass but that was just a strange AB. I'd also share he's been squeezed on a couple gorgeous pitches. Let's see how he finishes his evening. With a pitch count of 67 they are going to give him the chance to complete this frame and I like the decision.
  17. Sounds putting some insurance runs across in the bottom of the third. 3-0. Got some poke and run action going on.
  18. Holobetz 4 K through 2 IP. MAN, I really wanted to see this outing tonight. Boooooo!
  19. @Jake McKibbin: EMJ ALERT 111 single to CF. 116 mph (!!!!) absolute cannon single to RF. Jeebus Christmas!
  20. It appears the Pelicans strategy is wait for the Mudcats fielders to commit an error. Bitonti's fielding error here in the 5th puts runners on 2nd and 3rd with one down. We have no idea what happened there. BUT, Holobetz will try to pull out of this.
  21. Please do not take Jadher Areinamo for granted, folks. That is all. Watching him flash leather on a nightly basis is just such a treat.
  22. BOY, it sure would have been nice to see RHP John Holobetz come aboard and K two straight to end his first frame of work. Muddies lead 6-1. On to the 5th.
  23. Boy, this RHP Felix Arronde for Quad Cities is filthy. Really a nice young arm the Royals have there.
  24. Birchard closes with a K swinging and missing. Man, that heater is zesty. So much late movement and dip. Just a filthy pitch.
