    No kidding. He had really gotten going of late. And, with Pena also possibly nursing some type of minor injury hopefully Tyler Rodriguez can get some action tomorrow. Either way, to your point, really stinks.

    AND after Walling K's swinging on a full count heater, the switch-hitting Alastre rips a deep triple off the wall in RF beyond the leaping RF'er at the wall. It's 2-2. Made will try to knock him through with two down. Not to be. A ground out to 2B.

    He pulled up lame when he ran out the misplayed grounder to SS. They visited with him for several minutes and he stayed in. Clearly, he wasn't right. Chris Edwards thinks it's a hammy. Not good for a young man who had been hot of late.

    Di Turi K's. Muddies execute another successful double steal. And, I think Nadal is now going to get pulled after he came up a bit lame after the steal. It appears to be a potential hammy. Dang. He was really getting going of late! The fact they are bringing on Blayberg Diaz as the runner on 2B. Which leads me to: What's our current bench situation? Oliva just ripped a double down the LF line just over the third base bag.

    HEY NOW, I see you Jimmy Herron. Two-run poke just over the RF wall. An oppo taco. Love it. That's 5 RBI now in the first two games. Delgado had singled to RF to start the frame. It's 3-0 Sounds. Meanwhile, Nadal reached 1B on a fielding error and pulled up a little lame. We have the trainer, Nick Stanley...and it looks like he's going to stay in. With Payne running, he took 2B and it would appear the Mudcats speed caused the SS to rush the play. Payne then used his swim move again to swipe 3B. Men on the corners. Nobody down. Di Turi at the dish.

    Miz works around two singles and two men on to get consecutive K's finishing his first frame of work. He sat 95-96. He touched 98.

    Torres gets a 1-2-3 (all ground outs) frame. Much needed. I think that was a seven pitch frame? Either way his pitch count is 37.

    Made tops a weak grounder to the mound for a ground out. Dinges muscles a jam shot liner single into shallow CF. Adamczewski strikes out swinging on a heater. Bitonti flies out to LF. Meanwhile, the Sounds took a 1-0 lead on an EMJ single, Alfaro walk, Seigler gets aboard on a fielding error by the second baseman. With the bases juiced, EMJ crosses on a wild pitch. The Miz is out for his first frame.

    And, after a SB (very close - looked like they may have gotten him tho the camera work was slow to react) Torres walks the next batter on four pitches. He then gets a first pitch jam shot ground out to Bitonti. Not a clean inning.

    HBP, walk, 2-run Homer, K, and fly out. Man on first yet again after the free pass. Two down. Pitch count at 26. He falls behind 2-0 to the next hitter. Dinges comes to the mound. And now pitching coach Paul Moeller joins him.

    95 mph heater for a swinging K. Pitch count sitting at 20. Two down.

    3-2 count. Hangs a slider middle in. Two-run jack over the LF wall. Hanger. 2-0 Delmarva. They strike first yet again.

    Torres does indeed sit 95 mph. He just touched 96 mph on a high heater. Lost control of a slider down and in after a fly out to CF. HBP and a batter on.

    That's probably true - Green is fairly fast as well (I think he was sprinting home). Either way, it's a difficult play and it certainly didn't work out.

    I also think what's mildly incredible from Baez in the frame is he made a very challenging scoop force out to 2B to end the frame. That ball was 10x more challenging to play and he made it look routine. There is that. That ball was scorched and he short scooped it and made the casual toss to 2B like it was a walk in the park.

    @wiguy94: Ok, saw the play. Here's my instant reaction and my initial contention: You have time. You either take that and set and get the bang-bang play at first. BUT, there's literally a force out at every base. Just grab the ball with your glove and throw home. He made that play 10x harder than it had to be. In this image, he's already charged. The ball is already past his throwing arm because he missed the scoop. The base runner is barely over half the way home. The ball would be in his glove, he's charging and about to transfer and throw. I think he has him by a good couple of feet. Just poor execution.

    Perhaps the portent for the meltdown was further driven home when Yerlin absolutely airmailed a heater 3 feet wide of Garcia and to the backstop pitch 1? LOL. Man, they're absurdly lucky they got a good bounce or it's already 1-1. This inning was just doomed.😅

    I see Spencer Allen was the acting manager? Was Estevez tossed? Man, what a wild inning to just drop into.

    Boy, that Peek HBP came in a 1-2 count on a slider that got away from him inside. Man, that was the pivotal moment early. That can't happen and he absolutely knew it as he screamed a certain expletive in anger. BUT, he clearly didn't have his best stuff. Estevez had to rush Yerlin into a warm-up after he had walked and then allowed a hard hit single up the middle. Bummer.

    I am just sitting down to watch the 'calamitous' 8th inning. BUT, as it pertains to Baez, my main contention I struggle with as someone who (much like yourself) has seen the majority of his full-season tilts: he rarely rarely ever just takes what is given or what is the safe sensible play. He is an over-aggressive player to a fault. If he took the out at 1B there, then the HBP to the next batter merely loads them full. You've sacrificed the lead, sure, but you are thinking of the game as a whole not the 'hero' moment. I'll have to see the inning myself now to form a better feel of the situation as a whole.

    There is the current Mudcats offense. Then there is the current T-Rats offense. Night and day differences. Mudcats getting contributions throughout their line-up literally every night. The T-Rats getting one or two players contributing. Very little to, well, nothing from the lower half of their order. Nothing in synch. Very very little run production. I feel for manager Victor Estevez. No getting around it: this is a rough rough patch.

    I have to say, his over-aggressive warts have been vivid early this season. Just yesterday, he also nearly got picked off at 1B in a fly out to RF ending in an unnecessary near DP. It was a super lackadaisical trot back to the bag where with just a small sense of urgency wouldn't have even been close at all. His penchant for nonchalant outs on the base paths and a general undisciplined style of play don't bode well for him given the immense collection of talent in Low-A and beyond. This is just the honest truth. He has to tighten things up if he wants to stay higher in the pecking order. Disappointing start to his High-A season. AND, this all being said, it certainly seems like Peek and Rodriguez didn't do any favors with the HBP's and wildness to their work? I'll have to go back and watch it.

    IF I can somehow manage to get away from my farm come September and the Muddies are indeed in the playoffs I am going to try and make their Home tilt(s) in the opening round. It's a long ways away and a tough ask but this season could both be special and it is indeed their last at Five County.
