  1. RHP Melvin Hernandez has five punch outs through 2 IP. You have to love these ACL glimpses we're getting of this young man's move stateside. ACL Crew lead 3-1 in the 3rd.
  2. Isaac Collins now 3-for-3 with a double here in the 6th frame. Let's get that triple and cycle in the next AB, Isaac! Woot woot.
  3. And, as predictable as the sun rising in the East and setting in the West, the Shuckers lose 1-0. That's 8-straight at Home 'L's. That's 9 straight L's overall. The manager's innovative move to light the spark? Put two of his worst 2024 hitters in the most important spots in the line up. I struggle to understand Ayrault's 'tactics'. I really do. Anyhow, the uglier got ugliest. Shuckers now sit at 11 games under 0.500. Yuck.
  4. Black with a 2-rbi single in the 5th. Sounds now lead 9-3. Patrick really not having a solid outing whatsoever but he's going to try and give his team 5 IP. Black now has 4 RBI. Heck of a game for him at the dish.
  5. Meanwhile, predictably, the Shuckers now trail 1-0. Double. Single. Seminaris gave 4 IP of 1 R, 4 K relief work. He'll likely take the Loss. Meanwhile, chomping at the bit to see what innovation manager Joe Ayrault can give us to light the proverbial spark in this wooooooozy Shuckers line up.
  6. Two down for Austin in the 9th. K swinging. Fly out to Castillo in RF. 0-2 on the next batter. Still has juice on that heat here in his 3rd inning of work. Just misses upstairs and outside on a 94 mph heater. Off-speed and he gets a foul ball to the backstop. 1-2 and he gets the batter looking with a gorgeous outer strip change-up. WHAT. AN. IMPROBABLE. WIN. WHEEEEEE. Also: major props to the homeplate umpire. That was definitively some of the best ball and strike calling I've seen at any level all season. Major kudos there. Impressive work from Larry Pettis.
  7. Meanwhile, the Shuckers got both Boeve and Wilken aboard to start their 8th in a 0-0 game. What happens? Darrien Miller K's looking in the clean-up spot. EBJ strikes out swinging in the 5-spot. (COUGH). And, Martinez Jr. flies out to LF. Like I said, I can't take Ayrault seriously. Did he even pinch run for Boeve? Nah.
  8. MUDCATS now lead 10-8. Holy heck he crushed that ball over the short corner in RF. Never say die, Muddies! Unreal. Castillo's 8th HR of the season. That was an absolute no doubter. Mighty. WOW. A 5-run 9th on ONE single BIG hit. And, now we have the highlight:
  9. Castillo in a hitters count as well. 3-0. OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!
  10. Ball 4. 8-6 Mudcats trail. Castillo to the dish and the bases still dripping. And, the Shorebirds will go back to their bullpen for a new arm.
  11. Hitters count for David García - 3-1. Nowhere to put him with the very dangerous Luis Castillo on deck.
  12. Walling takes the count full and takes ball four. The bags are dripping! Two down. Muddies trailing 8-5. The Delmarva pitching coach is to the mound to talk with his reliever as they just started getting some arms up in the bullpen.
  13. One down. 4th walk to the next batter for the very not sharp RHP Chad Patrick. Meanwhile, the Mudcats have runners on the corners. Two down. And Reece Walling looking for some 8th inning heroics.
  14. McGreevy's sinker is really effective. I feel like he doesn't lean into it as much as he should. It's clearly been his best pitch for the Redbirds tonight.
  15. Wiemer grounded out to SS and did that right hand grimace and shake thing again. This is going to be a chronic thing for the much maligned Wiemer, isn't it?
  16. I absolutely would bet the Redbirds announcer can do a bang up Donald Trump impression. AND, Tyler Black crushes a two-run bomb over the RF wall! 7-3 Sounds babyyyyyyy! Black smoked that hanging off-speed pitch. Yowza. That's Black's 7th dinger of his season.
  17. I nearly swooned! I had to hold fast to my desk! Screens were a shaking!
  18. Patrick Dorrian ropes a double leading off the 4th! Smoked that ball gapped to the RF wall. Let's go, Patrick!
  19. Shuckers are knotted up 0-0 in the bottom of the 7th. I'm praying for a miracle: A Shuckers victory. 4 hits to the Wahoos' 3. Smith went 5 IP, 6 K, 3 H, 1 BB. Fantastic start. Seminaris has pitched 2 scoreless so far. As I've said on numerous occasions: keep him in relief please. Manager Joe Ayrault doing manager Joe Ayrault things: Darrien Miller in clean-up. EBJ batting in the 5th spot. I struggle to take Ayrault seriously. I really do.
  20. Patrick just gave up another hard hit RBI. A double to deep Left CF one bounced off the wall. 5-3 Sounds. Patrick just isn't sharp. And, it should be mentioned, he hasn't been sharp versus the Redbirds all season.
  21. Bleyberg Diaz just took a fouled ball off the old family jewels. He is in some major pain. The trainer is out there. He is keeled over. Ouch!
  22. Mejia just missed a two-run jack by about 6' down the RF line. Whew that ball was close. He strike out on the next pitch. Baseball. 5-2 Sounds onto the bottom of the bottom of the 3rd.
  23. Isaac Collins. Smoked his 6th ding dong of his season. That ball was smoked. Woot woot. 5-2 Sounds. Slider into Collins swing path.
  24. Patrick is not sharp early. He gave up two hard hit liners to start his second frame. A single and now a triple to the wall in the RF/CF gap. He's not getting swings and misses. He isn't locating all that well. 4-1. Man on 3rd. Nobody out.
  25. Wiemer just did that jam shot lose the bat in the right hand and shake your right hand grimacing thing again. Just absolutely topped a weak grounder to short. Looked in pain doing so. That's one of his AB kryptonites.
