    BUMP. 3-run 6th has the Muddies within 4-3. Will Durow's run allowed in the top half prove detrimental? Two down. Man on first. Walling to the dish.

    3-0 count to Guilarte with the fresh lefty bullpen arm, Cooper. He has a green light on a dead center heater. He misses. 3-1. Cooper is a lefty out of last year's NCAA champion, LSU Tigers. And Guilarte pops out harmlessly to shallow right field. Has to do better there. 3-1 count. Lunges and pops up an outside heater. Ouch. On to the sixth. 3-0 Mudcats trail.

    A gorgeous Yoshwar Garcia bunt single. Steals 2nd. Walling k's swinging on a 3-2 heater (foul tip). Briceno walks. Men on 1st and 2nd. After 71 pitches, Correa is pulled. This is good news for the Mudcats. They had a very hard time getting anything of meaning against the young Cuban. Let's hope they can start rallying.

    Rodriguez K's his 4th to end the 5th after the RBI to the RF wall. We are on to the bottom half of the 5th. That will likely be all for Rodriguez as his pitch count is approaching 80. He has now pitched 5 complete innings in 6 of his 8 starts. Quite an accomplishment for the young hurler.

    Rodriguez is burned by a one out walk in the. He proceeds to give up a gapper to the wall in RF. BUT, Walling and Guilarte gun down the runner trying to stretch to a triple. 3-0 Mudcats trail. Two down.

    Pratt walked with 2 down. He stole 2nd (10-for-10 on the season I believe?). Then C David García singled on a very weak grounder up the middle to the shallow right CF grass. Pratt tried to leg it out around 3rd. He was thrown out at Home by about 5 feet. Valiant attempt to sneak a run across. Tried to even intentionally smack that ball out the catcher's mitt. Not to be. The mini two out rally attempt fizzles. 2-0 Delmarva and we are on to the 5th.

    Yophery now has struck out swinging. And, now he has struck out looking on a dead center 0-2 breaking ball. Two rough rough AB's for the youngster. He hasn't made Correa work for anything.

    Heck of a play by Yoshwar Garcia in LF as he grabs a smashed line drive double off the wall on one bounce. Bare hands it. Fires an accurate cannons shot to 2B. Runner out sliding. That's two very hard hit outs to the deepest parts of CF and LF to open Rodriguez's 4th frame. They'll go down as two outs, ultimately.

    Groundouts and strikeouts the name of Mudcats AB's vs Delmarva's Correa. AND Briceno breaks through with a single, you guessed it, on a sharply hit 98 mph groundball past the diving Delmarva SS. Man on first. Two down. Guilarte will try to take advantage after his opening 3-2 sharp ground out to 1B back in the first frame. AND, he lines out sharply to RF on a dipping 97 mph liner. Dang, he deserved better on that swing. On to the 4th.

    Weak pop fly to CF. Called 3rd strike on a 3-2 outer stripe breaking pitch - fabulous pitch. High lazy shallow pop fly to Pratt in the LF grass. 13 pitch 3rd frame. Pitch count at 51. Meanwhile, the Delmarva starter is at 26 pitches headed to the bottom of the 3rd. Gotta start making him work so they can get to that Delmarva Pen.

    Baez swinging K on a 95 mph 0-2 heater. Roll over weak grounder by Garcia. Castillo chases a change-up that drops low and inside below the zone. Swinging K. 2-0 Delmarva headed to the 3rd. It's important to remember, Delmarva's weakness is not their starting pitching. Their bullpen, however, is very very hittable.

    Weak pop fly to LF. Swinging K on a high inside heater to a lefty. Weak grounder jam shot to Pratt at SS who throws the runner out by a few steps. 11 pitch 2nd inning after a 27 pitch opening frame for RHP Manuel Rodriguez.

    Guilarte and Pratt ground out to 1B and 2B, respectively. Yophery K's swingin at a 1-2 pitch inside and in the dirt. 3 up. 3 down. On to the 2nd. Muddies trail 2-0.

    Huh. I thought it was likely due to the utter shock batters faced when their pitches were actually in or near the zone! 😅 Or wait a minute! Are they hitting and walking guys to boost those K totals?!? ACL Crew playing chess... Anyhow, point taken.

    On the other hand, let's celebrate some of the phenomenal pitching we are seeing in certain alcoves of the Brewers Minor League universe. One of our more unheralded (to those that aren't obsessed like us ol' codgers) right-handed arms who has really made a name for himself with the Sounds this season. RHP Chad Patrick. Heck of a season to date. The former D-Backs 2021 4th Round Draftee has gotten better as the season has progressed. Having his best outing to date his last time out. Nice to see him get some much deserved shine! These feels like one of those 'fringe of the roster' mutually beneficial trades - INF Abraham Toro has gotten that much-deserved MLB playing time with the Athletics and run with his new opportunity. Patrick has absolutely revived his career and blossomed under the Brewers tutelage. Important to note: He is 25 years old until August. He features a classic Starter Five-Pitch mix: 4-Seam, Sinker, Cutter, Change-up, Slider. He leans heavily on his heaters and gets lots of swings and misses here. Last time out? Of 40 total pitches he garnered 20 swings and misses. Granted, it was the Knights but the stats also do not lie. Like Myers before him...Patrick is a guy to absolutely have on your radar as an unexpected find who has the potential to ultimately help the MLB staff down the line. He has that coveted 'stuff' that will play. Lots of movement in his arsenal.

    For the Crew, in particular, it would appear that to be very very true - ie looking more like DSL Box Scores. We once again are seeing the impacts of changes to the stateside roster limits and moving up the ACL season well ahead of the MLB draft. At 7-10, the ACL Cerveceros are only 4.5 GB of Cincinnati. However, they have allowed the most runs in the entire ACL @ 136 runs allowed in only 17 contests. Yikes. That's six more runs than the the ACL League West last place ACL Royals. The Crew are top five in runs scored but if you are giving up that amount of runs consistently a 0.500 ball club is likely the highest aspirations we can hope for as fans. Interestingly, the staff has the 3rd highest K total @ 191 but they possess an extremely unsightly team WHIP of 1.91. Whew...where they've hit the most batters in the League (26) and walked the most batters (103). That's 10 more walks than the next low rung on the ladder - the only squad to manage to break that not so coveted century mark. Which doesn't even broach their head spinning team ERA of 7.90. I think it's fair to say: there's some Development ahead in the pitching department 😅

    He gets the ground out to 2B and Barrios casually steps on the bag. Huge W in a rough day overall for the affiliates. Thank you, T-Rats. Hats off to Cruz there. You can't ask for anything more there. The T-Rats manage to lose the series 2-4. A nice clawback effort in a tough luck series overall.

    This is a really really tough ask for Cruz. He's forced to warm up directly on the mound. Already in a 1-0 count.

    And, after a very strange looking heater (in terms of arm action) that tailed well outside on the first pitch, Jimenez called out the trainer. He's pulled. He may have injured his throwing arm there. Sheeeesh. Forced pitching change. What a hand to deal RHP Stiven Cruz. Jimenez's body language was really downtrodden and no energy leaving the field. Just a rough rough series of events. Jimenez beans the very dangerous Morel in a 2-2 count (pitch 8) at 4:34:10 on the replay The wild heater (tailing outside to the next batter, a lefty) and the ensuing call to the Trainer happens at 4:34:48 After re-watching that entire ordeal, that was just a really weird sequence of events. The walk-off with manager Victor Estevez looked awkward.

    Jeeeeze. 1-2 count. 8th pitch of the AB. Jimenez plunks him dead center in his upper back. My goodness. Rough rough look. He had him 0-2. 8-pitch AB. Plunks him to load the bases.

    With a 1-2 count, Jimenez throws it in the dirt and prevents a throw from Home while the Cubs execute the double steal. That was a big moment. A single can now tie it.
