  1. Special play. He's that kind of an athlete. So happy to see him experience some success at the MLB level.
  2. Never doubted this one for an...er...umm...moment. Mark it a 'W'.
  3. With the Carolina victory they move back to 3 1/2 G ahead of the 2nd place Lynchburg Hillcats. Big 'W' tonight. 22-13 overall in the 2nd half.
  4. RHP Corbin Burnes barely makes this list!
  5. The DSL Crew Dos had runners on the corners with one down in a 1-1 game in the top of the 5th. They had talented INF Filippo Di Turri at the dish - exactly what you'd want - and, unfortunately, he grounded into a 6-4-3 DP. It stays 1-1 and they head to the bottom of the 5th frame.
  6. With the DSL Cerveceros Uno trailing the very talented DSL Phillies Blanco, 3-0, 17-year-old Nicaraguan RHP Enniel Cortez came on in relief of 18-year-old Jose Meneses (rare off day - 3 IP, 2 H, 4 BB, 3 K, 3 R 1 Earned). Why do I bring up Cortez? Because, like Mogollon and (to a lesser extent) Reyes in 2022, he is flashing in nearly every start. Through 3 IP (bullpen), 1 H, 0 BB, 0 R, and 5 K today, Cortez adds further case-making work to an already fantastic season. Coming into today's bullpen work, Cortez had worked 8 G, 6 GS, 33 2/3 IP, 39 K, 5 BB, 5 ER, 1 HR, 2 HB, 0.197 BAA, 0.86 WHIP. And the BAA and the WHIP appear ready to lower even further. This is stellar output for a 17-year-old in his first professional season. I had already taken notice. If you hadn't, I believe it's time you start tracking his every outing.
  7. Very curious to see where they slot Boeve. They have to get him out of the ACL 😁
  8. He has already had a relief outing in Nashville. Very slow ramp up.
  9. Why can't we enjoy a Cubs thrashing in Peace?!? This is not how the baseball gods were to draw this up. I'm in protest.
  10. You know I love both these young men. Dorrian, in particular, is so underrated. Yet he is so dang solid anywhere you slot him. Collins season for Biloxi obviously speaks for itself.
  11. Carolina is knotted at 3-3 in the 7th and, wait now, Avina reaches on a throwing error. Areinamo capitalizes and drives him in with a double! 4-3 Mudcats! Let's take this, men!
  12. Two walks from Woessner here in the 2nd. Gets away with the first by inducing the routine DP - Moore to Garcia to Martinez Jr. Up 1-2 on the next batter, Woessner found himself 3-2. After a foul ball he gets the infield pop-up. 1-0 T-Rats and we head to the 3rd inning.
  13. Will Rudy escaped a 1st and 2nd mini-jam (one down - flare to CF. HBP) by getting the strikeout and then the Sibrian PO at 2B when he rifled a dart to Guilarte after a high heater and the runner leaning. Have I mentioned how much I love Sibrian?
  14. INF Gregory Barrios was leading off and struck out to start the game. But, Guilarte hit a line drive single to right center over the leaping 2B (nice protective piece of hitting - a classic poke knock) - Guilarte then took 2B on a successful swipe. Tayden Hall and his healthy 0.407 OBP came to the dish. And, Hall took the free pass. Men on 1B and 2B. INF Luke Adams and his absurdly healthy 0.433 OBP took consecutive change-ups to fall 0-2. Guilarte swiped 3rd on a ball in front of the plate and in the dirt - blocked but Guilarte is heady. All of this to say: Luke Adams said: Don't throw three consecutive change-ups, Sir. He ripped a 3-run shot over the left CF wall on a change-up/breaking ball up and center. Ripped it. 3-0 Mudcats. That's Adams' 10th long ball of his season. 45 RBI now. OPS up to 0.878.
  15. Brock Wilken with a nice rip to the mid left CF gap. Nice easy swing. 1-0 T-Rats. Bob Moore had walked. Took 2nd on a WP.
  16. Lineup card also states 1B. And we have the red hot Collins in LF and Valerio at 2B. In other words: Black at 1B continues
  17. And, he's getting notoriety so let's keep sharing it here. Mr. Wes Clarke: If you are wondering, according to Shuckers announcer Javik Blake, Clarke is now hitting a HR every 7.6 AB since the All Star Break. That's good for 8th best amongst all MLB and MiLB players. Sizzling!
  18. Speaking of Nadal: Nice swing package here. Easy leg kick makes in swing adjustments like this first AB possible.
  19. Just here to say it is always a day more beautiful when the Cubs get their a$$es handed to them. Glorious Friday to all. Oh, at Hipsterv...oh wait...Wrigley no less? You don't say!
  20. Man, that's real real not good. I feel for those scouts. Not a pretty picture whatsoever. Ugh. The cutthroat nature of Big Business is often quite lacking in respecting the individual. And, well, that stinks.
  21. The Sounds are getting RHP Taj Bradley coming off a MLB month in which he gave up 19 ER and 5 HR in 21 2/3 IP. Let's hope his confidence is shaken and LHP Robert Gasser gives us one of his late June outings. Sounds trail 2-1 in the Home series. Let's pull even.
  22. Awwww, man. 2-1 lead for the DSL Crew Uno and their game was suspended in the 4th. Booooo! Give em 5 so they can beat the Bautista again!
