  1. Zavi Warren with the clutch scoop and barehanded grab and throw to 1B for the first out. He then collects a grounder directly to him at 3B keeping the lead runner at 3B. Out numero dos. And, Robinson has the next batter in a 2-2 count. The batter calls a timeout and steps out of the box. Robinson gets the swing and the miss on a sinking off-speed pitch in the dirt. HUGE outing from Cam after the lead-off single in the 9th. He stayed uber-steady. The Shuckers have now won 7 games straight. THAT was the sauce.
  2. OH Sweeeeeeet Sugah! An Oppo Taco off the bat of C Wes Clarke sails just over the RF wall. It kept carrying in that heavy Pensacola evening air. Whewwwww baby! It's suddenly 9-6 and that, my friends was the very first long ball LHP Jefry Yan has allowed all season long. Clarkey BABY! Love it! And, here's your retroactive highlight. Heck of a poke:
  3. Who other than INF Isaac Collins to take the second Yan pitch into RF for an rbi single to start the 10th frame? Nice easy swing. Better result. It's 7-6 as Manfred's Man (Chourio in this case) crosses the dish.
  4. Phewww boy, Cam got away with a center cut off-speed pitch - slightly elevated which helped - as Conine flies out 382 feet to deep CF in front of the warning track. Berry fails to tag as he has to sprint back to the bag. AND, Robinson then gets a comebacker he adroitly snags on the hop to the mound and gets the out at 1B. Attta way, Cam! Attttta way to find that late-inning resolve!
  5. And now we have lefty bat, and Shuckers nemesis Griffin Conine to the plate with the RISP and he already has two HR on the evening. Let's go, Cam! Dig deep young man!
  6. How low on the meter is Robinson's confidence at present? He doesn't go for the lead runner or the double play on this routine bunt to the pitcher's mound - he didn't give himself the chance to make the play, honestly, when he kept his momentum going to 1B upon review but that play was there to be made. That is a very makable play but he didn't even look to 2B. We have to go there in this situation by my book. Let's hope he can escape the runner in scoring position. That was not a very good bunt from the very dangerous Victor Mesa Jr..
  7. The Marlins' LHP Jefry Yan continues his dominance on the hill. He gets the swinging K from 1B Tyler Black and a weak jam shot infield pop up off the bat of CF Jackson Chourio - no easy feat. This young man is such an intriguing bullpen arm. That's now 79 K for Yan in just 43 IP in 2023. Whewwwwww lawwwwwd. Such an intriguing lefty. The volatile RHP Cam Robinson will come aboard and try to maintain the tie. He is making it challenging off the bat with a dead center heater ripped into RF by newly promoted 3B Jacob Berry (who I was watching in High-A earlier this season!).
  8. Meanwhile, in Pensacola, the Shuckers bats strand INF Zavier Warren at 1B after he hit a looping flare for a hit into shallow LF. It's still 6-6 in Pensacola as they'll bat in the bottom of the 8th. AND, rehabbing 3B Brian Anderson makes yet another ridiculously difficult play at 3B look routine to end the game in a Sounds victory. An extremely weakly hit groundball up the 3B side off a lefty bat with Anderson in the hole. He charges, scoops, and throws a rifleshot dead accurate to Hiura at 1B nailing the runner by a single step. He is so steady at the hot corner. Sounds win 6-4. Lauer gets the 'W'. Bukauskas grabs the 'Save'.
  9. RHP J.B. Bukauskas works around a one out line drive single to CF by striking out the next batter on a gorgeous 1-2 sider but then gets a groundball single just into CF past a diving 2B Patrick Dorrian. We now have a runners on the corners, two down ball game here in the top of the 9th. Sounds still lead 6-4. Big AB here, obviously.
  10. It's the top of the 8th in Pensacola and we're still tied 6-6. LHP Luis Amaya got a lotta of 'grounded out softly' to end his 7th inning of work. Big payday innings here. Let's see if the Shuckers can pull it out!
  11. C Brent Diaz demonstrating, yet again, why he isn't just 'that other catcher'. He's a really talented young player. 2-for-3, 2 2B - one of which was the tying dub in the 6th. It's now a 6-6 game in the bottom half as LHP Luis Amaya tries to work out of a men on 1st and 2nd two out scenario.
  12. Meanwhile, at Pensacola we have a mini-rally for the Shuckers here in the top of the 6th behind a run-scoring single off the bat of INF Freddy Zamora and OF Carlos D. Rodriguez follows suit with an rbi-double. It's now 6-5 Pensacola. The comeback dreams are alive and well.
  13. Keston Hiura works an 0-2 count to 2-2. In an 0-3 night at the plate he avows: "I do not care, fine Sirs!" He rips a looping double to the wall in far LF. That was a huge hit just after rehabbing Brian Anderson struck out swinging on a heater high and in on the edge of the zone. Sounds were trailing 3-0. They now lead 6-3. All six coming in this 6th frame. Noice, Keston! Beautiful piece of hitting!
  14. Now I get to see the Sounds plate 3 here in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game! Yay for me 😅
  15. Definitely matches what I saw. First two were very weakly hit. Second wasn't smashed by any measure but felt sky high and looping and found an improbable gap between Naquin and Harrison in far right center that fell on the warning track's dirt.
  16. Lauer's heater is sitting 90-94 mph. He's varying speeds. He struck out his first batter on a gorgeous looping 76 mph curve directly on the outer stripe. A three up and three down first frame of work.
  17. LHP Eric Lauer is back on the mound for his first work in Nashville in some time. He gets the punch out facing his first batter. Here's hoping we get a darkhorse resurgence for Lauer.
  18. It is entirely new and way more detailed. It's kind of nuts. 😅
  19. He sits more 93-95 but touches 96 mph. It's his action and his off-speed stuff that makes the difference. Low is primarily 96-98 mph with a wicked slider but he hasn't located much at all in the past month. He has to rediscover the zone. Rivero also struggles with this from time-to-time this season (as seen tonight). Both very intriguing arms. Both with miles to go. Lots to work with, however.
  20. Peterson is getting absolutely tagged in South Bend. He just gave up what 'should' have been a 3-run home run jack (again to LF) off the top of the wall. The umpiring crew gets it wrong. But, it's a two-run double instead. 6-0 Cubs. Peterson's low velo is killing him because he's finding way too much of the plate.
  21. Perfect throw gets Chourio CS by a fraction. Gorgeous toss from the backstop. Perfect.
  22. First AB Chourio vs Pérez. Chourio BB. This just in: Pérez's change-up is ridiculous. Whew.
  23. It is undeniably dirty. Grimy. Gross. He has unbelievably intriguing stuff for his age and experience. He is just violent in every aspect. Different pitcher than Henderson. Love em both. At this stage, Hendo is more advanced in his control and accuracy - he knows his stuff and executes on a nigh in and night out basis. Rivero still has a propensity to lose his location. It isn't Low-like (at present) but because his stuff is so filthy he'll go an inning with WP's, HBP's, and walks. You don't really see this in Henderson's outings - more advanced. More experience. But, the raw tools in Rivero's arsenal are off the charts. He has the whole package of stuff. It's a matter of how he develops.
  24. Second two-run bomb in two innings. Again to LF. Meatball 90 mph heater dead center. 4-0 Cubbies. Pic says it all. Mistakes happen.
  25. LHP Nate Peterson just gave up a deep triple to the wall in CF and then gave up a two-run bomb over the wall in LF on his first pitch to the next batter. 2-0 Cubbies here in the 1st.
