  1. Chirinos has grounded out twice to SS very very hard. Still 2-0 Mudcats headed to the 4th. Gasser escapes an incredibly weak infield hit and Urias' error unscathed. Sounds to the plate in the bottom of the 1st. I continue to watch RHP Tobias Myers and see the same thing: his heater is too flat. It's hit hard. Like Varland as the season progresses, I see the same thing when he takes the hill: no movement. Too flat. It isn't a recipe for success. He needs to find more tailing action or any kind of movement.
  2. Urias just stabbed a routine grounder to 3B and launched that biscuit about 10' over Singleton off the 1B wall. The runner did not advance. That was, um, something.
  3. 5th K on another gorgeous slider. Man, Misioroswki is dealing. All off-speed K's. 9 up. 9 down. 5 bags of sweetness. Swoon.
  4. INF Alexander Perez's first AB above the Complex League results in a 4 pitch K. He saw only off-speed deliveries. He went down swinging.
  5. Hey now! Sibrian knocks in a run with a smash line drive up the middle off the pitcher's glove ricocheting into the RF grass. 2-0 Mudcats. Sibrian at 1B. Still nobody down.
  6. INF Gregory Barrios with a beautiful walk - showing the ongoing improvements at the plate. He really laid off some very very good off-speed pitches nibbling just outside the zone after taking a questionable 2nd strike. I think that's a 6 game OB streak? Avina followed with a deep shot off the wall for a dub. Men on 2nd and 3rd. Nobody down. On a night with reasonable wind, that's a HR knock. He smashed that ball to right center. Both runners advance on a balk. 1-0 Mudcats.
  7. That's 6 up and 6 down with 4 K's - all on just dazzling off-speed stuff. He is showing the full package of what makes him so tantalizing early.
  8. Gorgeous off-speed stuff tonight. Just gorgeous. (Best heard in an East Coast old lady voice)
  9. The wind is absolutely screaming toward homeplate from CF. In a series with only two HR so far, I'd be very surprised if there is a long ball in Zebulon tonight. It's howling. Mudcats had Vargas and Nicasia on the bags but Chirinos hit sharply into a 6-4-3 DP to end the first frame. Lara also got on with an infield single but was thrown out on the force out to 2B on a Vargas ground out to SS.
  10. Though, I would like to say: @sveumrules really stepped up and gave me those choice concise run down nuggets I needed for my nightly trips down the country road to the gas station to check in on the scores. LOL. Thanks my friend!
  11. Thanks amigo. It was a rough couple weeks - not going to lie. It's spring planting time (all day long tasks) and no internet with my wife working from home proved, shall we say, a challenge. It was really weird not being able to watch games or even visit the forum!😅
  12. Batter number two. A 3-2 gorgeous inner-cut breaking ball for strikeout numero dos. Batter numero tres: 101 mph ripped down the gullet. And, we're now 0-2.
  13. One batter. One K on a gorgeous breaking ball from Mr. Misiorowski.
  14. I've missed a lotttttta ballgames with the Starlink more like Starclunked the past week plus. Can someone give me the low-down on Guilarte's injury?
  15. Not a bad crop of hurlers to enjoy my first night in over two weeks! Also, I should add: I heart Edwin Jimenez. There's a reason he is pitching in my return write-up. Fan boy, and all. Let's hope he keeps slinging that nasty stuff!
  16. And, yet, somehow, the Brewers remain four games above .500 and atop the woeful NL Central. I think the one constant these adult drink specialists bring to the table is a consistent ability to defy the Odds - will Teheran? I doubt it but I wouldn't put it past him to give starts that give the team chance to win some games.. Overall, the signing feels very uninspired but, then again, at this stage of the party we are scraping the bottom of the barrel.
  17. As a fan of winning games and celebrating player development: I absolutely heart Mudcats manager Victor Estevez. This really can be a both and. And, we often see another brand of managing. Estevez is a breath of fresh air stateside and it certainly feels as though the Brewers have a gem on their hands.
  18. It may not be discernible to viewers who haven't watched every one of RHP Logan Henderson's starts. BUT, I want to point out what you will see on the latter part of that highlight reel: intensity and a demonstrable display of amped-upness (for lack of a better term). THIS is the Logan Henderson we saw last season before he was shelved in nearly every inning of work. THIS is who he is at his core when he is 'On'. This a very encouraging sign. His first outing, he really really had the rust and couldn't get any meaningful swings with his off-speed tools. This was an extremely encouraging outing and one we should be excited about and hang on to in the near term.
  19. I needed ONE look at that Durham HR slo-mo replay to realize that was former Shucker killer OF Niko Hulsizer. Seriously, he is a Brewers destroyer. How many times did he steal games from the Shuckers in 2022? Keep your head up, Mr. Thompson. That was pre-destined.
  20. Ruh roh. And now he's on the pines after 3.5 innings today. Slightly concerning given his epic fielding and throwing struggles in 2022 led to a season long stint (ultimately) on the IL. Let's simply hope it was a hiccup and there aren't any recurring injury signs! If I recall, off the top of my head, it was a shoulder ailment last season.
  21. The ongoing futility in Wisconsin is indeed frustrating. However, what I am finding far more 'disappointing' than their overall record is the sudden and ongoing super struggles of RHP Stiven Cruz, RHP Alexander Cornielle, and RHP Cameron Wagoner (albeit, to a lesser extent given our extremely brief glimpse in 2022). Cruz and Cornielle, in particular, have taken giant steps back in the early part of 2023.
  22. I remember before the season began there were some on our board wondering why Peña wasn't starting the season in High-A Wisconsin. I tried to point out to them, he wasn't all that successful in his brief tenure in High-A with several signs he needed more fine-tuning. Well, at this point of the young season, he might be looking at relegation work or signing on the Indy League circuit alá LHP Leoni de la Cruz (who I would add was even more impressive last season than the struggling Peña). Lotta ballgame left but the early 2023 returns are quite often filled with multiple runs per outing.
  23. INF Zavier Warren replaced SS Freddy Zamora in the fourth frame. These are the first innings Zavi has ever played SS in the Minor Leagues. I am wondering what is going on here. * Just now seeing you pointed this out above @damuelle - very strange.
  24. Two more ding dongs from my hearthrob C Jeferson Quero. Settle down! Settle down, young master!
