  1. Here's a take: Who cares where these prognosticators rank us when we have Jeferson Quero in our system? Yeah, that's right. I'm coming at you with some catching beef. No RHP Stiven Cruz on their so called 'Top 30'? Meh. ? Here's a stat to fire at y'all: Carolina (even though they're trailing 8-0 tonight in the middle innings - yikes) just threw out their 81st runner of their season. That leads all the Minor Leagues. Last team in any level to do that? 2016. ?
  2. You'd be hard-pressed to find a reliever in the Milwaukee system having a rougher second half than RHP Arnaldo Hernandez. We've seen an acceptable workhorse season turn into a quagmire since his return from the IL. I sure hope he can find some semblance of form! It's always tough to see a guy consistently get roughed up.

  4. OF Abraham Almonte took his act to the Red Sox Triple-A affiliate in Worcester after the Brewers traded him for cash considerations and, it would appear, he is actually mashing at a higher clip - which, if you consider what he was doing in Nashville is fairly absurd. 26 G/ 93 AB/ 23 R/ 21 RBI/ 3 2B/ 1 3B/ 7 HR/ 25 BB/ 25 K/ 4 SB/ 2 CS/ 0.290 BA/ 1.015 OPS ?
  5. I love that I didn't even consider the 2 week discrepancy in his last reported stat line ?. Hello, Monday! I would also imagine there might be some aspect of the drop-off in surroundings. All I ever hear about playing in Nashville is it's a class act unlike most (if not all) Minor League experiences. They truly are setting up to be a future Big League city. And, man, they are going to sell out with ease. Incredible baseball town. And, then, beyond that in the purely speculation realm I'd have to imagine the fact he has a youngster; a wife; and a family (and I believe their home base is in Scottsdale, AZ)...it was simply more appealing to reset and prepare for the future with his loved ones.
  6. It would appear David Dahl hasn't quite gotten things going in Rochester (Nationals Triple-A affiliate) since his release from the Sounds. It certainly doesn't appear he's playing poorly - it seems to me, by basic box score glancing, he's adjusting to a new setting much like he adjusted to Nashville early in the season. It's simply taking a bit longer. Dahl's 'breakout' with the Sounds came on the heels of a 3-for-4 outing 35 or so AB's in. Currently, for Rochester he's played in a mere 18 games: 67 AB/ 0.224 BA/ 0.647 OPS/ 10 R/ 10 RBI/ 5 2B/ 1 HR/ 8 BB/ 22 K/ 1 SB/ 0 CS
  7. Circling back to some of the early season young men who were sent elsewhere as the Brewers scrambled to address roster issues... The Victor Caritini Trade: INF/OF Korry Howell: Howell was moved to San Diego's 60-Day IL July 23rd. He spent the entirety of his season manning all sorts of positions (you might imagine) for the Padres' Double-A affiliate in the San Antonio Missions. I would say, all in all, despite the injury, Howell and the Padres would see his 2022 as a successful debut with the new organization: 146 AB/ 0.253 BA/ 0.876 OPS/ 12 SB/ 1 CS/ 8 2B/ 4 3B/ 6 HR/ 37 R/ 20 RBI/ 25 BB/ 52 K C Brett Sullivan: Although, Sullivan spent an extremely short period of time with the Brewers (signing as another of the many ML FA's in 2021), he proved to be valued as a trade piece. Sullivan has turned in his most productive offensive season, one could easily argue, since 2016-2017 when he bounced between High-A and Double-A. His 2022 offensive numbers read: 338 AB/ 0.805 OPS/ 3 SB/ 0 CS/ 26 2B/ 4 3B/ 8 HR/ 56 R/ 63 RBI/ 27 BB/ 52 K (Defensively: 36 SB/ 16 CS/ 0.981 F%). Sullivan has also filled in semi-regularly as a 3B and a LF.
  8. Man, this Mark Mathias news makes me SO happy. He’s such a likable athlete and was always a joy to watch in Nashville. Considering he was traded on the heels of the birth of his first child, this is just so great.
  9. A Saturday morning Cody Ponce drop. Nostalgia fills the air! Let’s hope we see a winning weekend.

  11. Yes. Yes he has. AND, he's stellar at the hot corner. He can absolutely nail down SS and 3B in a pinch. From earlier this season in Mississippi. He makes fielding look so easy - he has all year.

  13. The Spirit Manimal is Waking Up. Oh yes. Rise up, Joey! Rise up!

  14. Nope, the only two-way player currently in the system is one Quinton Low. Andrews is strictly a pitcher now.

  16. Very salient points! Lots for teams to consider and potentially a changing landscape given the new parameters.

  18. My counterpoint to Castaneda is the development and work we might see from lefty Clayton Andrews -@ARobsBrewCrewalludes to above (I very nearly included him in my comment above - he's still very young, he's a lefty, and he's shown solid success across all levels before injuries derailed his initial Triple-A bid.). Will they use this final 3-4 weeks to help inform this decision now that Andrews is in Biloxi (if the weather even allows them to play a game, that is)? I'm unsure, but it is probably a consideration especially given what ARob is telling us. Given Cam Devanney can fill in quite well at 3B and is just a really good defender, I'd have to consider given his maturation and development at the plate in 2022 and his improving frame and body he'd have to be a serious consideration as well. It will be interesting to see what happens - that much is certain.

  20. Jonathan Aranda has been having some kind of season in that International League. He lost his hitting streak two nights agp, but he's still leading the entire League hitting in the 0.320's with fantastic run production to boot - he's currently the toughest out across both divisions. Durham has two high-quality lefty bats in that line-up in Aranda and Josh Lowe. They're a fun team to watch swing the bat.
