  1. Yes Sir. That was impressive as hyeck. Hit 100 mph 4-5 times. 99 on others. Getting swings and whiffs on two sliders on the 2nd and 3rd K? Yeah, that was the sauce.
  2. Very fair comments. Nothing to disagree with here.
  3. Johnston, for whatever reasons, actually has a very pedestrian (if not below-average) contested catch rate. He has fallen down boards for reasons like this - you'd think he would sky above CB's and claim that territory. That is not the case. If we are going to worry about the slot label in 2023, I think that's the wrong approach. Cooper Kupp is a slot guy, for example. Chris Olave, a guy the Packers loved last season is primarily a slot guy (Njibs greatly outperformed both Olave and Garrett Wilson while in the same receiving corps). And, like a dominant nickel CB, it carries just as much weight in 2023 as the outside wideouts. My opinion, of course. And, please don't get me wrong here: I simply love Njiba and what he brings to the football field. If they went the route of a Johnston I'm going to root like all get out for him to succeed. I would propose: take the best WR in the draft in Njiba (if he's there) and worry about the proverbial jump ball guys with the gluttony of really good athletic TE's.
  4. Let's again remind us all why many of us keep pointing to the mound for extremely intriguing RHP Quinton Low. Touching 99 and throwing this type of slider at this stage? Whewww. Good luck Low-A hitters:
  5. From the Sounds Game Notes. It definitely looks like one of those flipped scripts series match-ups between the Sounds and the Storm Chasers. One relying on their pitching (Sounds) while the other relies on their bats (Storm Chasers). It will be curious to see how these early tendencies trend over the next six games.
  6. It would be hard to complain about taking a blue chip DL/OL/Edge/CB in Rd 1 despite my cravings for an offensive weapon. It's where you build the foundations. We do have quite a bit of OL depth, however, so it may be a scenario where the personnel staff sees that 'Need' come into play with comparable talents.
  7. I believe there have been whispers about the Titans, the Texans and the Patriots. Regardless, I've loved Njiba for quite some time. I see him as the absolutely perfect compliment to Watson and Doubs. Obviously, the Packers would have to buck trends to take him. I was just excited to get a bit of good news (even if it is hearsay in the smoke and mirrors of draft week) on an otherwise classic Wisconsin sports night.
  8. This made me quite happy last night...the Crew were losing at Home to the Tigers...the Bucks were fulfilling an epic choke job... BUT this gave me comfort. May it be so.
  9. Additionally, let's give a shout out to what RHP Tobias Myers is doing in Biloxi. It's easy to forget he's still just 24 years old (turns 25 in early August) because of his extremely rough 2022. He is absolutely stating his case, in the early going, he wants another chance at the International League. It's important to remember he actually had a solid first showing in the League back in 2021 when he was hurling for Durham - 12 G, 58 IP, 4.50 ERA, 65:18 K:BB, 0.234 BAA, 1.21 WHIP. The outlier season for Myers is last year. Previous to that, he was making a name for himself. It's also a pertinent reminder this is another HS draftee who has been finding his way as a 17-year-old since 2016 when the Orioles drafted him in the 6th round. These are the 'catch lightning in a bottle' chances an organization like the Brewers has to take. He takes the mound again, tonight, looking to keep his bounce back story fresh and relevant while hoping to further drive the Mississippi Braves (5-10) down the Standings.
  10. It's fairly impressive LHP Robert Gasser is sporting a 2.77 ERA with batters hitting a truly weak 0.136 BAA...and it definitely feels (and has looked) like we haven't even sniffed his best stuff. The 14:10 K:BB ratio and 3 HB augments the 1.23 WHIP. If this is 'struggling', what does peak Gasser look like? I really really hope we are blessed as Brewers baseball fans in witnessing his growth and refinement into the best version of his pitching self. It's so tantalizing but it just hasn't happened yet. Miles to go, but, I'm along for that walk in the baseball park.
  11. How about the week INF Eddy Alvarez just had (really, since shaking the rust off the first couple games of the season he's been incredible):
  12. Yay, a Misiorowski Home start! Woot woot, MiLBTV here we come.
  13. Well having 4 of the Top 100 picks is certainly cool. As per usual, I have absolutely no clue what direction the Packers are leaning. If they stay put at 13, I'd be happy with any one of: Top OL, Top DL, Edge, CB, or Njiba. That's pretty much where I stand with some comfort.
  14. The issues with this team, all season long, are still glaringly obvious. Even if they win this series - which they certainly can - I remain absolutely skeptical they can do anything meaningful. There was previously just no way I was bought into their record and this simply solidifies that for me. How many games did they lose this season by double digits? In the past month they lost to the Indiana Pacers by 20 at home. I believe they lost multiple games by over 30 points and two (or more) by over 40? Boston has been and is the better team. Philly has been playing better than the Bucks over the past month. This team is too old, too slow, way too inconsistent shooting the basketball, and they have a coach who falls in love with the drop defensive strategy and just isn't capable of adjusting on the fly. It is what it is. I am grateful we miraculously got the one thing I thought I'd never see in my lifetime: A Bucks Championship. But, it certainly feels like the window for this group slammed shut with tonight's meltdown. It really did. At this point, I think it's fair to expect a coaching change is likely in the pipelines. Jon Horst has his work cut out for him, that is abundantly clear.
  15. RHP Jake Cousins has been recalled by the Milwaukee Brewers from the Nashville Sounds LHP Alex Claudio had his contracted selected by the Milwaukee Brewers from the Nashville Sounds C Johnnys Cabrera has been activated by the Carolina Mudcats
  16. The call-ups are, um, not my first choices. BUT, sure as hyeck hope they exceed expectations and fulfill dire needs in the Pen.
  17. Given Alex Hall's incredible work since leaving for Australia, it makes one wonder: Should every Timber Rattler be given a day with the Big Club as an 'Emergency Replacement'? Food for thought. I'm sure the brass is debating this very idea!
  18. I did not realize coming into the 2023 season I would be tracking Jace Avina's wild strikeout tendencies. I sincerely hope he can tone that down in the months ahead. 22 K in 41 PA is bananas Given LHP Jakob Bristoski's continued struggles locating in early 2023, a move to the Development List would appear to make quite a bit of sense. One of my early season bummers has been the failed launch of his self-proclaimed "Year of Command". Perhaps, we'll be fortunate enough to look back and realize he simply discarded April?
  19. Let's bring some video to your apt description:
  20. This has been a rough 3-to-4 game stretch for INF Robert Moore in Quad City. He's actually looked quite rushed and a undisciplined at the plate which is something I'm not used to seeing - herky-jerky swings and his head leaving the hitting plane. He had a fantastic start to his season but it's worth noting: 1-for-15 over his last 4 games, 10 K, 2 BB, 1 2B, 1 R. He looks off by my eyes. Let's hope he hits the cages and re-discovers that smooth switch-hitting bat we've grown to love in any line-up.
  21. We've had intriguing pitching highlights throughout the early going. The bats have been slow to get going in any consistent manner but there have definitely been some sparks. Hopefully, this is just the start of some consistency at the dish.
  22. With the double header sweep today, Biloxi moves a crusty 1.0 games back those buttery Montgomery Biscuits (Tampa Bay).
  23. And Mr. Chourrrrrrrrio just ripped a three-run double and the Shuckers now lead 7-3. Take that Brewers bullpen! Let the healing commence!
  24. That is what you call 'a rope'. Goodness. How long was that even in the air?
  25. The Sounds had tied it up at 2 apiece in the top of the 8th. AND, RHP Cam Robinson gave that run right back - he continues what has been an up-and-down struggle at Triple-A since his call up late last summer. Sounds now trail 3-2 with the top of the 9th to try and tie it up or take the lead.
