  1. So, where did the Brewers land after the deadline?

  4. I have to admit, it's gone so morbid and dark that it's kinda fun.
  5. The Brewers should not trade anyone on their MLB roster unless it's to bring back a better MLB player. Nobody is going to give MLB value for Vaughn, and trading Hoskins at this point in time would be madness. Then you're putting all of your chips behind... *checks notes*... Andrew Vaughn?
  6. Even if Vaughn starts stinking tomorrow, his production has already validated the trade. But for the love of god, do not rely on Andrew Vaughn. Maybe he has made some adjustments and is now better. But he's NOT this good, or even close to this good. His BABIP is 50 points higher than any other season. His walk rate is way higher than any other season. His home run rate is double any other season. His strikeout rate is way lower than any other season. This is what happens when you isolate 60 plate appearances. Do NOT trust 60 PAs as an indicator of future performance. What we're seeing here is called "a hot streak".
  7. Let's talk trade deadline! Keep up with all Brewers rumors here: https://brewerfanatic.com/milwaukee-brewers-free-agents-trade-rumors/
  8. *cough* WILLI CASTRO *cough* The Brewers don't need a full-time solution in the outfield, particularly if they get O'Hearn. But Willi Castro is a good stopgap, who can continue to play around the field when Chourio returns.
  9. No, they haven't done enough. It won't cost them a fortune to go get someone like O'Hearn, and that gives them a better shot of getting out of the first round by skipping it entirely. I understand not pushing all the chips into the middle, but they should push some into the middle.
  10. Brewers rumors are hard to come by this deadline, as they are more deadlines. The Brewers are one of the most tight-lipped organizations in baseball, but according to Curt Hogg of The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, most of the Brewers' trade deadline efforts are focused around a first base solution and an addition to the bullpen. The corner-infield market is thin, so most conversations start with Orioles first baseman Ryan O'Hearn . In his walk year, O’Hearn owns a .306/.386/.495 slash, a .333 wOBA, and a 153 wRC+ through 91 games, numbers that earned his first All-Star nod. Baltimore has signaled a willingness to move expiring contracts, making the 32-year-old left-handed hitter, who can also cover both corner-outfield spots, one of the few impact bats realistically available. In regards to the bullpen, given the Brewers' proclivity for developing their own bullpen power arms, it's hard to envision them paying a king's ransom for one of the controllable late-inning relievers on the market, such as Jhoan Duran, Griffin Jax, or Ryan Helsley. But there are several middle-inning arms on the market: you can find a starter pack of arms in DiamondCentric's trade deadline roundup. View full rumor

  12. Absolutely. I thought the Brewers might go for a backup catcher, simply because Contreras has the broken finger and hasn't been "right" all year. It's a good insurance policy, and one that fills an offensive need in a variety of ways. Jansen is *just* good enough with the bat to be useful for more than squatting behind the dish twice a week. Let's not ignore his splits against LHP, a real weakness on the Brewers this year given all their lefty bats. It's a smart move around the margins that improves the team. A 90th percentile Brewers move, if you will.
  13. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic has reported the Brewers are showing interest in first baseman/corner outfielder. The 32-year-old O'Hearn has 12 home runs, a .284/.375/.452 slash line, a .360 wOBA and a 133 wRC+ through 92 games, though he has cooled to .218 with a .684 OPS since May 27. He is earning $3.8 million this season, leaving approximately $2.5 million owed, and can become a free agent in November. O’Hearn would give Milwaukee another option at first base while Rhys Hoskins rehabs a left-thumb sprain that is projected to sideline him until mid-to-late August. Andrew Vaughn has filled in capably, and switch-hitting rookie Isaac Collins has taken most of the reps in left field, but manager Pat Murphy has still searched for extra left-side power. That need is clear in the numbers: entering Monday, Brewers left-handed hitters ranked 21st in slugging percentage (.380) and 23rd in home runs (33). Only designated hitter Christian Yelich (20 homers) and Jackson Chourio (17) have exceeded O’Hearn’s total. View full rumor

  15. Jansen has a 97 OPS+ that is right in line with his career numbers. If you don't think improving the backup catcher situation while also providing Contreras insurance doesn't make the Brewers more competitive down the stretch... *shrugs*
