  1. I’m not one to come to MLB’s defense often but they’ve been testing robo umps for a few seasons now. It’s not the kind of change that can happen as quickly as a pitch clock or a shift ban, there are too many moving parts and getting everything correct out of the gate is critical.
  2. Love it. I don't like seeing guys melt down on the field but I do like seeing aggravating players be punished for self-inflicted mistakes.
  3. I'm chalking it up to the umpire and Stroman. Between Stroman's command and the ump's zone, there were so many unhittable pitches thrown yesterday. No hitter is going to do anything useful with a sinker dropping below the knees and being called a strike. You swing at it, you're inducing weak contact. You take the pitch and you're issued a strike. It was no-win.
  4. One of the greatest tweets of all time.
  5. This is wild. https://www.mlb.com/news/hunter-renfroe-makes-no-look-catch And after you watch the video, here's Tom Tango's hilarious catch probability chart.
  6. I hate the day off after opening day. I think it ruins the momentum of the baseball season just as it begins. The thing is that it's not that hard to have the Tigers, Red Sox, Cubs, White Sox, and Twins start on the road every season. It should just be a thing baseball does every Opening Day. There are plenty of viable cities for a handful of teams to start out on the road against every season.
  7. Yeah, that part is less awesome. But still, I like the idea of the patches!
  8. One of my underlying concerns about the Brewers is whether they can repeat their pitching development magic of 2015-2018. Seeing them develop a bunch of unproven bullpen arms on the fly goes quite a ways towards assuaging that concern.
  9. I don't miss much about living in Los Angeles but one of the things I truly miss is Opening Day starting at 10am and ending at 10pm. Living on the west coast is often a pain if you follow teams that play a couple of time zones east but on Opening Day, it was magical.
  10. I think the Brewers will call up Toro but I'd prefer they call up Wiemer.
  11. Hah! Don't make me ban you over there. 😁 Seriously, though, they're a pretty good group. I know there's a ton of animosity toward Cubs fans - often deservedly so - but the reason I even considered this purchase is because they're cut from a different cloth than most.
  12. It's a pretty big deal if the Brewers can immediately turn Gus Varland into a quality relief pitcher.
  13. Okay, so Burnes isn’t having his best day.
  14. 1. Target Field would be a lot worse with a roof. I'll suffer through a few weeks of yuck weather for the great summers. 2. I do not, nor should anyone else, care about the Vikings. :D
