  1. Seems to me the manager of the Orioles should have slightly more pressing concerns.
  2. I would force teams to share TV revenue the same way they share gate revenue, basically an even split with the team they’re playing. Then I would implement a salary floor and cap with players receiving 50% of revenue.
  3. Agreed. I'm surprised he's as high in the lineup as he is against RHP.
  4. There isn't but if we're being honest, there are more and less annoying ways to be a fan. And like pretty much anything in life, persistent negativity wears on everyone else.
  5. I agree the baseball season is too long, which is why I believe it should be reduced back to 154 games, returning Opening Day to where it used to sit around April 15th. As I’m sure you’re well aware, October generally isn’t nearly as bad as early April in the upper Midwest.
  6. Still trying not to get overly excited about Yelich but it’s getting harder.
  7. Cain’s apparent defensive agelessness is fascinating.
  8. Personally, I don’t care for retractable roof stadiums so rainouts don’t bother me. Of course, I live in the metro so travel isn’t an issue. Also, the primary reason the Twins didn’t build a retractable roof is because it literally wouldn’t fit on the footprint of Target Field, which would have meant no downtown stadium.
  9. Good point about the late acquisition of two catchers. I’m surprised that has slipped under the radar as much as it has.
  10. I doubt it. The system seems really straightforward and everyone seems to like it. I think the upper Midwest having a bunch of lousy weather - not exactly out of the norm but not a given, either - is the biggest culprit along with a shortened spring.
  11. Looks like the Twins game will be rained out and my wife has to work late so the universe just cleared my schedule for me.
  12. Baseball badly needs a facelift.
  13. Not really, I've seen teams do this across baseball with increasing frequency over the past 3-4 years. I'm not sure how effective it is but it's almost certainly effective to some degree.
  14. The thing is that standing on the plate and HBP is legitimately a skill that can and is repeated. It's super weird to knowingly execute that skill and then complain when you're awarded a base for it. Unless you have so little self awareness that you don't realize you're executing that skill effectively... I guess that's legitimately a possibility but it seems really unlikely.

  18. I see a lot of fan pushback against moving lineups based on matchup and I just don’t get it. Of course front offices and managers are switching roles based on matchup because McCutchen simply is not the same hitter against both sides of pitching. Why wouldn’t Counsell exploit that to his advantage, even if that advantage is small?
  19. Being shut out by the Orioles is very embarrassing.
  20. Renfroe, this is literally your job. Lefty on the mound, runner on base, do something.
