    And what would you say about players like Branyan and Kapler? True, we had them at the beginning of the year but no one else wanted them at the time. Same thing in my opinion. Edmonds was awful in San Diego, there is no way even looking back now that i would want him on this team. Trust me, people in San Diego are much more angry over the fact that Cameron was let go and replaced with Edmonds than with getting rid of Edmonds and seeing him now be semi-productive in Chicago.

    We have to consider the long term as well as the short term. But we can't just get good enough to sniff playoffs if we are going to make a move. If we make a move and lose valuable prospects, then we better be getting CC out of it. You don't trade anyone who could contribute next year for Randy Wolf or Greg Maddux. So i'll tell you what... Keep LaPorta because we all know Fielder is eventually leaving. Keep Escobar and trade weeks. Trade Gamel because he's just another player who will hit but play horrible defense. If you can do all this and get CC with extra players included i'm all for it.

    According to Buster Olney's blog, we would get FOUR draft picks if we traded for CC and he bolted.. What? The blog said that we would then have FIVE picks in the top 35... So where do we sign?

    I like this lineup. Another example of just how versatile Hart is in that lineup. He can bat anywhere!

    You guys always talk about a "regression towards the averages" but in a single season ANYTHING can happen.. and it usually does. Who says we can't put up a great record in one run games the entire year? And don't get me started on the "expected win/loss" stat. Arizona had a horrible expected win/loss last season with a good ACTUAL record prior to making their big run. The rockies won 20 out of 21 at one point, maybe even better than that i don't remember. But i bet the stats didn't predict that. If everything could be accurately predicted by the numbers we would just have the gm's build their teams and then take all of the players stats and throw them into a computer and see who has the best chance to win and then give them a trophy. But we do play the games and so odd things happen... all the time. I predict that what will happen, will happen. Play the games, worry about stats after the season is over.

    Funny? Yes. Cheapshot? Maybe, but does anyone outside of Wisconsin really know what they were talking about? I mean, do any of you guys pay attention to when other teams have such reunions? I sure as heck don't. My guess is that it went over most peoples head and got dismissed as typical ESPN babble. But for us Brewer fans it's pretty funny.

    What exactly do you find hilarious about our comments? The fact that we don't like your stadium, win or lose, means that our negative feelings on the matter are not influenced by our losing there. The stadium is a circus. If Vegas had a baseball team, their stadium wouldn't be that wacky. Regardless of how i feel about the train, it's not the problem. The problem is a left field "porch" that my little sister could hit one into. It's the hill in center field with a flag pole sticking out of it. Honestly, how did this design pass? It's garbage. Hey, how about that shot Pujols hit off of Lidge in the playoffs? That was out in ANY park!

    Fan experience and such, yes, it would be a terrible oversight not to utilize this board. Why bother putting out surveys and all that nonsense when the work is all done for you right here. Player moves, lineup changes, hirings, firings... i have 100% faith that nothing we say matters. we aren't the ones who are putting their jobs on the line. they are. Honestly, do you see DM sitting at his desk at night agonizing over a slumping lineup, and then having a eureka moment, flipping on his computer and reading through our posts when finally he says, "That's it! I will swap Hart and Hall in the 5 and 6 slots! Brewerfan.net you have done it again!" ? The only time we matter is when some idiot posts that a player or coach has been released/fired and it is totally false but some of the media catch on and actually publish it. Thankfully that has only happened once that i remember and it definitely wasn't us.

    yeah.. disappointing loss to start the trip. It was a win that we somehow made a loss. But there aren't a predetermined number of wins for us. Giving one away doesn't mean that we can't go out there the next two days and win both of them. Hopefully someone learned something from today and it doesn't happen again for a very long long time.. This happened A LOT last year down the stretch, it happens to all teams. Imagine how the Rockies felt when the cubs came back from 9 down! I know this should go in the silver lining thread but one loss is still just one loss. We've stolen a couple of these games from other teams ourselves. It's baseball, it happens.. and i am all out of optimism.

    my bad jhart, i just checked out V's game log and he has not given up a single run since his conversion to the bullpen. Must have been someone else. Of course we all know this board goes back and forth on some issues but in this case i was wrong. I will admit that i do have little faith in Mota and cannot believe his ERA was only 3.08 entering today... He seems to blow it a lot more than not.

    Just because people often don't put a question mark after sentences like "You know what bothers me." does not mean it's not a question. Just because that sentence is usually never formulated to get an answer doesn't mean it's not a question. Do you know what bothers me? That is a question. You know what bothers me? More of a rhetorical question, but still a question. Do you know what bothers me? The way this team played tonight. I'm done thinking about it for 24 hours... The only way i forget about this is if we win the next two.
