  1. Okay... those first two pitches to Dunn missed where??? Especially coming from a lefty that seems to jump towards first base when he releases.
  2. As the count goes to 2-2 and broadcasters call it "even", i feel like i should bring this up. Does anyone else have a problem with a 2-2, or 1-1 count called even? I know, mathematically, it is even. But this is baseball. It takes 4 balls for a walk and 3 strikes for a strikeout. So in my opinion, 1-0, 2-1, and 3-2 are even. This has bothered me for as long as i can remember...
  3. I know i'm going to regret this but how money is Torres tonight?
  4. Reds broadcasters just said that the fact that the players and coaches vote on gold gloves instead of the media is "a joke" I think the Reds franchise has become a joke. And i think it's a joke that they have such opinionated announcers for such a poor franchise. I guess you do a lot of talking when the product on the field is consistently horrible. Yet, Ueck seems to have handled it well.
  5. Well, Phillips has probably saved his team at least 2 runs today. We are hitting the ball hard again, and that's a great thing.
  6. You can look at this one of two ways. Sheets told Yost he couldn't go on. He said there is definitely something that is NOT right with his arm and it's too painful to continue pitching. OR. Sheets finishes the inning, Ned asks him what all the arm stretching between pitches is about. Sheets mentions it feels a bit tight. Ned looks at the score and the opposing team on the field and figures he can give him the rest of the day off.
  7. I guess that's about right.. he does seem to get hurt in games where he is dealing... It really could be a blister. I mean it IS early and Ned probably likes our chances against their pen with a 4 (now 5) run advantage. Let's just hope it's not one of those really small things that is just precautionary, and then just a precautionary missed start, and then he is out for a month...
  8. Wow, i asked that question before i saw Rickie at the plate... sorry for jinxing that one.. So um... when do we commence the bf.net meltdown?
  9. Nice bit of hitting by Gross... That said, Arroyo has just hit rock bottom. Benny's pitch count, anyone?
  10. Had to go back to Red's broadcasters because my laptop can't handle both media players at once... They just said that Ben Sheets isn't the same Ben Sheets who struck out 267 batters. I agree with that.. They also just said that he USED to come with 100% effort on every pitch... and he doesn't now? They also made a comment about his velocity. It doesn't look like he's throwing slow but that radar gun is around 85 on his fastballs! Never the less, he just struck out 2 out of 3 in that inning.
  11. Marty Brennaman is the longtime radio announcer for the Reds but I think he just does radio. His son Thom joined him with the Reds recently and I think Thom does TV sometimes. It doesn't suprirse me that he called out the Cubs fans - he doesn't mince words. He couldn't stand Ryne Sandberg either - used to talk about him being overrated. I found an audio clip of him ripping the Cubs fans and Jeff Brantley is announcing with him and I know Brantley does TV sometimes - he was announcing with Thom Brennaman on that one clip that made the rounds where he ripped the player for not being clutch and the player proceeded to hit a walk-off homer. Might you have the link to this audio clip? I mean the one where he rips cubs fans.
  12. So, apparently Counsell was voted the starting 2nd basemen on Arizona's 10th anniversary team! No Junior Spivey?
  13. That's like a really crappy version of McCovey Cove. Ha. He got shammed.
  14. clap, clap Speaking of which... Are they still doing buckethead night? I'm sorry, i've been out of state for 5 years and haven't been able to get to a game since 2006. So there.
  15. Just about to say the same thing And That. Braun is at least seeing the ball now. I would say seeing the ball better, but that would imply that he actually was seeing it at one point.
  16. Oh, and it's worth mentioning that the Reds broadcasters ALSO have an Ecksteinish obsession with Counsell.
  17. I'm not sure Marquettefan, i'm livin' the dream over here in Ueckerville. One thing that i wish MLB.TV hadn't done is getting rid of the local commercials. Now it just says "Break in the Action" or something. But you used to get the regional commercials and even some really funny broadcaster moments when they left their mic on. Anyway, Cincinnati always had the worst commercials anyway.. i hate the Reds.
  18. The Reds broadcasters just said that Hart is not a very good baserunner and that it was a bad idea by Yost to have him moving on that rundown... Whether or not Yost should have put that play on or not, Hart is a great baserunner and pretty darn good at stealing bases. I'm officially muting the reds crew and turning to Ueck even though there is a delay.
  19. Here's hoping Rickie is just a Brandon Phillips type late bloomer...
  20. Well, at least they made it interesting.. Maybe we can feed off this. P.S. Can Rickie look any less confident?
  21. What really happened is that we hit a couple of homeruns off of Santana and all of a sudden we are going to try to hit one every time now.. because that's how you win games...
