  1. I'm not sure why i Tivo things when i KNOW that i'm going to be checking the score all night at work... granted, i can get more than the three sportscenter highlights this way... but still.. so either game day froze or parra is done. I like the call, hopefully the pen can take care of business.
  2. I know that this board likes to play with numbers from time to time... and i know it's fun to predict what will happen.. but i encourage all of you to just sit back and enjoy the ride. I mean, i'm not trying to be a prude. Yes, if you look at the schedule it does say that we have a great chance at making the playoffs. But that's no gaurantee, by any means. It looks promising but if you think in terms of "we SHOULD make it", you leave yourself open to huge disappointment. After all, these are human beings not robots. Anything can happen. Just enjoy the ride!
  3. Wow... 29 is our magic number? Really? That's excellent. 32 games left, we could even lose 3!
  4. Hey guys! Quick question... Just moved to downtown Madison and i need a good sports bar to watch the game at tonight. Any ideas? My priorities go like this: 1. Viewing Quality (quality, size, and placement of tv's) 2. Food Quality 3. Location (preferably downtown, but i'll drive somewhere if it's real good). Any info is greatly appreciated!
  5. i agree with this for a couple of reasons... 1. Messing with a starting pitchers rest cycle can sometimes be a disaster. 2. As already stated, the point is to get Ben and CC as many starts as possible. We are not only fighting against Chicago and St. Louis, but also Philly, New York, and Florida.
  6. Here's the question... does this injury have more or less of an impact on the NL Central race than the acquisition of one Randy Wolf?
  7. Yes, but he DID choose to push him instead of throwing a massive punch.
  8. Given the fact that he has already gone public about wanting to play for San Diego in 09, it shouldn't take much to get him. I say we do it now and never look back. Branyan had his time, everyone assumed he would come back down to earth and it has definitely happened. This guy still has some power too, it just doesn't show in the stats because of Petco Park. He's a solid defender as well. He would not only be great on the bench but would push Hart in RF. Here's something else, though. What about compensation when he walks after the season? Wouldn't he be considered a type A guy? Trading some lower level prospects, getting his production off the bench, and then getting ANYTHING in terms of picks is a steal of a deal. I say do it now..
  9. I'm in! You know, Pedro wouldn't have to OWN the team to do those promotions. He would just have to... run for team president? Now if only we could come up with a campaign slogan.... Enjoy the bay area Rei, i'm supremely jealous.
  10. I don't really care where the game is, we should win this series and i'll be pretty dissapointed if we don't. Sabathia and Sheets back to back should guarantee at least one win.
  11. I saw the interview as well. he said some nice things but he finished it up by saying that they were going to just see what happens.. meaning, see who can come up with the most cash for him.
  12. Wait, so Hurdle leaves in Rusch to sac bunt instead of putting in a pinch hitter and then elects to use Corpas. And so far it has worked out... If Ned Yost did that we'd probably be all over him.
  13. Woah hey! Take it easy! How on earth is this like 2004. This happens to every pitcher once in a while. In 2004 it happened every game. The offense has been pretty great this year behind him. Look at his record!
  14. No kidding. This game is so much like the 18K Atlanta game already. Who's going to play Lyle Overbay tonight? I'm calling Cameron. Nice catch by said player.
  15. This is just Ben's way of explaining that he is still the Ace on this team.
  16. 10 Runs, 18 pitches by Sheets in the first. Just a reminder to some of you guys with duplicate picks, you might want to RE POST your new pick instead of editing as the person who is giving the tix away has stated that edited posts do not count. Just a heads up. This is so cool by the way, thanks!
  17. You see, this is why you don't give up on Weeks.. they turn into Xavier Nady. Bet the Padres feel pretty foolish. Oh wait, they traded Jason Bay too!
  18. Shapiro seems like a good guy, and i like to believe that a part of him is very happy that he is trading Sabathia to a small market team like the Brewers instead of a team like the Mets. I'm willing to bet we got a lot of temporary fans in the Ohio region.
  19. I'd really like it if we rode Bush's hot hand a little longer and put Suppan in the pen. I understand that he is a great guy, and i understand that he makes 10 mil a year, but we just made a very bold statement that we are serious about making a run. That means we need to stop playing mr. nice guy in regards to roster decisions. Sorry Soup, but you have been awful.
  20. Are we really right on the verge of this deal or are you guys just trying to entertain yourselves on a long holiday weekend? 'Cause i'll jump right on the wagon and go on CC watch too, just give me the go ahead...
