The order doesn't have any 0.500 OPS guys to hit a HR, but they could PH someone who has 500 career AB and NO HR that will go deep.

Well our new 8th inning guy just grooved a ball into the middle of the reddest box for Solano on gameday and he smacked it for a double and the lead.

Well he may not have the power, but he is on pace to possibly hit 3 WAR for the season. That puts him at about $8M/WAR which isn't horrible. I would even say it isn't bad. It needed to be a HR and it's more like a single/walk, but it isn't an out. The concern is will he have the same rate of success he had this year (after he was moved to the leadoff) for an entire 2023 and how fast he drops off as he ages. I was afraid he'd be a 1.5WAR hitter this year and then go from their down, but a better 2022 makes the entire contract a little better than it seemed 3 months ago.

I believe it was a trip to SF about this time of the year that started the hot streak. So yeah, a hot streak now can propel you into the playoffs, but my feeling is that the 2019 team was probably better than this team especially with the injuries to the SP. edit: OK not a trip to SF and only a 12-10 streak from August 4th - 31st, so I am thinking of some other year (maybe 2018).

Hopefully this is Ashcraft's last inning so we can feast on that poor Reds bullpen like we did yesterday when down by 4 runs.

Urias is the third best 3B on the roster. Pederson and Brosseau both have better WAR per PA than Urias. Pederson with 2.0 so far and he's out for awhile, while Brosseau is about twice Urias in WAR rate. Sure Brosseau has been mostly platooning against LH bats, but there's an argument that Pederson and Brousseau should platoon at 3B and Urias be the utility guy.

He has a great reputation for having a good eye so I can imagine the subconcious part of an Umpire gives him the benefit of the doubt on close pitches.

Almora Jr. hasn't gone deep yet so my money is on him as the next least likely player to go deep on the Brewers this weekend.

Nice to see Wong get his OPS into respectable territory after the bad start. Now if we could have that 2021 defense back.

I'm guessing Alexander is up to go multiple innings so if they want to pull the starter earlier than the 5th/6th they don't keep going to the well with 1 IP from the middle reliever group that's been pretty bad lately.

Can we at least acknowledge there was a GM before David Stearns and several of those assets we love to throw around as great pieces of the team (Woodward, Grisham - what he netted, Hader/now what he netted) were in fact not a Stearns acquisition? Thanks for putting those words in when I never said that. I was specifically talking bats. If I posted Excellent (pitching) + Bad (hitting) = good (not very good IMHO) front office is that acceptable. After all it's just an opinion, not heresy against a deity. -
I hope Bush is fine before the Brewers are too far out of contention because this bullpen is bleeding like that goaltender a few years ago that had his jugular cut by a skate.

Yelich before & after kneecap injury

The funny thing to me is that kneecapping has been a punishment that the mafia and other crime organizations have done for eons to punish their enemies or traitorous minions. Lots of people have been handicapped/crippled because of it. Sure the break Yelich had was clean and likely to heal, but there are still risks that need to be considered. If it was my $170M (or whatever the extension was) I would have been concerned enough to ignore the players demands at an immediate extension if that was the case (they still had years where they could trade him and net something like Soto netted). Yelich isn't the same hitter as he was before the injury. If I had dropped that amount of coin on him I'd be asking the medical professionals that were consulted at the time if they wish to clarify their opinion. That's me. Mark may be less inclined to care as long as he's still making money. I'm not sure he's as invested in a World Series Championship as he is managing an investment. And yes, fans do put GMs in can't win situations, but this situation has an asterisk that makes it different than the general fan being demanding. We don't know if the poster, who you responded to, would be one of those fans that complained based on the outcome and not the circumstances, but maybe "we" should give them the benefit of the doubt and not just lump them in with "folks". -

That's interesting. Looking at the starting lineup, Other than Taylor and Hiura who did the Brewers "get" that didn't "get away"? Several on the pitching side, but the other conclusion is that they've been bad at developing hitters over the last seven years and those 2 things are hard to claim the FO is "very good".
