  1. I really don't get the constant bashing of the Love pick. I don't. If you look back, without prejudice, to the time before that draft, Rodgers put up 2 pedestrian years (for Rodgers, but we pay him to be the BEST QB) and he was at an age that physical decline is the norm, not the exception. The Packers got into a situation where a player they really liked was available for them to get and they did. Since then Rodgers has been elite again. That's a win right there. I think we all know enough about Aaron Rodgers to know that he needed that kick in the pants. Sure, he may have returned to elite QB play without the Love pick, but I think the more likely scenario is that he needed that kick in the butt to wake him up. So the constant whining about the pick from that standpoint is just crazy. The other is that many of those same fans were focused on complaining about the Gary pick or not drafting a WR in the first, because they obviously know more than our GM and scouts/coaches. I think we can conclude that the Gary pick was right on and even with the WR room in it's current state THEY DIDN'T DRAFT A 1ST ROUND WR!!!! It's not in their philosophy (or it's second to stud defenders yum yum). Fast forward 3 years and we are still hearing about their dislike no matter what happens on the field. Sure, Love isn't perfect. Oh my God why not!!!!! But as you said neither is the deity Aaron Rodgers and if they have any degree of perspective they would know how poorly Rodgers looked early in his career. I think HarryD is being facetious, but there's an army of the irate imbeciles who can't get enough of bashing the imperfections of Jordan Love. Good luck with the rest of your lives.
  2. Before this preseason, no doubt I would jump at it. Having seen the improvement (this is really his 2nd camp for all intents and purposes) I think he's not far from being as good as anything we could purchase on the open market and he is years ahead of a new draftee (with lower risk). I don't know how long Rodgers intends on playing, but it isn't an issue yet (might be at the time they need to pick up the 5th year option). I think we're going from "what will we do when Rodgers retires" to "What are we gonna do to keep Love if Rodgers wants to continue". That's much better than where we were even 3 months ago.
  3. What do the coaches see in practice that could possibly over-rule his in game ineptitude?
  4. Yes he is and adjusting to his mistakes from the first game. His best pass so far may have been the one he dropped in to Doubs that was called back with I believe 4 saints around the ball. That TD was just perfect placement and a nice jump and grab by Doubs.
  5. Nice running on this drive. OL finally opening up holes.
  6. Nice pass by Love called back by a hold by Davis. Not sure what the coaches seen in him, but it doesn't appear to translate to game day.
  7. I haven't kept up on all the aspects of this case, but a "related" topic that might be of interest is the Bill Cosby ("is a rapist") scandal. I just finished an excellent documentary series (available on Amazon Prime) titled "We Need to Talk About Cosby" that interviews a subset of the over 60 women who have claimed to be sexually assaulted by him. It really was excellent look at how a celebrity can leverage that "popularity" and a wholesome image to serially assault women where in many instances he is enabled by his celebrity. One women told the story how she believed him the first time (that she had just gotten drunk) and he was Bill Cosby so he must be a nice guy. right? and when she met him again he tried to again drug her and take advantage, but the second time she resisted. She was openly saying she was stupid for trusting that someone who was clearly a predator would have been identified before their encounter. It was also amazing at the number of women who said they didn't say anything at the time because they were more embarrassed than angry. I guess we may know more about Watson when someone does a documentary on him.
  8. But they've had bad approaches the whole year. Teams just throw the first pitch down the middle of the plate as 99.9% of the time the Brewers hitters just sit there for 0-1. Then pitch 2 is in a less then desirable location and they either watch it or swing and miss. Down 0-2. Has nobody on the Brewers ever looked at the expectancy charts for count and results? The Brewers are hitting like you would expect from batters who are consistently behind in the count. Is that a few players going rouge or is it the Teams Philosophy (see more pitches per AB?) It just seems like they almost never get their pitch to hit when they do put a ball in play or when striking out. At this point it really seems like it's the hitting philosophy for the Brewers.
  9. Oh we're just bonding! I Knew what you meant, but thought you needed a punch in the arm.
  10. Technically the season ends October 5th so they will be playing in October.
  11. The best pitcher, so far, was DFAed by the Brewers. The rest are all crap, but hey we'll ignore the one's wearing Brewers Unis.
  12. There's your run Corbin, now pitch perfectly and the Brewers can win.
  13. I'm tired of the the Brewers digging up past-their-prime vets like JBJ, Wong, and Cutch that CC can't help but play every day. If they are going to be boring and the 7th best team in the NL, I'd rather they were the 8th or 9th, but playing players who will be part of a Brewers team that can make it deep into the playoffs. I'm fine with them trying to eeck out a playoff spot, but if they put us through another year of crap players for a bight of the apple that was just bitten by a syphilitic Turk, personally I'd pass and find a better way to spend my money and time.
  14. I sure hope the offense can bail out the pitching again!
  15. So glad we've been DFAing relief pitchers who actually have a chance of being competent to keep Trevor Kelley. Maybe they need a refresher in roster management 101.
  16. I guess that's why they added 11 at the trade deadline. Probably the wrong 11.
  17. Maybe the guy who was signaling to him finally got paroled.
  18. I think it's called the Yelich Tease. Give just enough hope to slightly ease brewerfan angst then go back to grounders for a week.
  19. That likely is the night for Woodruff! Hope the bullpen can keep it close.
  20. When Stearns took off the blindfold that's whose name the dart hit.
  21. Not all games are equal. Total run differential (114 games) = +31 Run differential against teams currently in playoffs (39 games) = -29 Offense RS (non playoff) = 4.87 /game Offense RS (playoff) = 3.87 /game As a comparison, the Atlanta Braves have a -7 run differential against team in currently in the playoffs.
  22. Bingo! As I've said multiple times, I would love to see the Brewers data that backs up a lot of these decisions. Does it even exist? It just doesn't make sense and as you eloquently stated it sets up players to fail. My biggest fear about moving prospects, up with an expectation that they will play, is that they won't play nearly enough and as soon as they have a bad game, or don't detail CC's car to his liking, they will get bench butt. Set players up to succeed and play the future and sit the past.
  23. Never Give Up. Never Surrender!
