  1. Unfortunately closers aren't valued like they used to be, but it only takes one team.
  2. Halfway there with 2 innings to go and the Giants using the back end of their bullpen. That's a recipe for brewer offensive excellence.
  3. I almost replied that it was a reference to Doyle Alexander then I realized that I dinked then I realized how old I am with that reference.
  4. Giants don't seem to have a problem pouring it on.
  5. Brewers are missing a perfect chance to score 3-4 runs and pad their stats so it looks like they have an average offense.
  6. No worries. The Giants have relaxed. Being up 7-1 to the Brewers is like being up 5 touchdowns with the 2 minute warning in the 4th quarter and you have the ball and the other team has no timeouts.
  7. Walmart bag of balls, yes, Regulation bag of balls, no.
  8. I mentioned weeks ago that we should be prepared for no salary, or minimal added before the trade deadline because attendance is way down.
  9. Pederson can pitch several innings since 4 runs are on him.
  10. I'm thinking a stun gun attached to their genitals and a charge when they swing and miss might be the best solution,.
  11. Was Attanasio out there during any of the CBA negotiations pressing for more equity? NO because making ********* of money and has a teflon excuse (oh we can't compete)... Booh Hoo...
  12. Where are the championships to fall back on? PACKERS 13 BUCKS 2 USELESS CRAP BREWERS 0
  13. I hope the games in April and May count otherwise the Brewers are in trouble.
  14. Personally I think he's upset that Hiura was sent down.
  15. I agree, the problem is that you have to be successful in draft and development at a level the Stearns-led Brewers have not. Wasn't it 3 years ago that Stearns basically cleared out the scouting group? I get that running the MLB team is a large enough challenge, but he waited way too long to hold some people accountable. We'll see if the latest round of scouts and player evaluators will make a difference, the downside is we're likely 3 years away from those choices to make a talent turnover strategy work and if we let Burnes, Hader and Woodruff walk instead of trading those assets we don't know if the next round will even be enough talent to keep the team competitive.
  16. The latest on the MLB.com website says the Nationals are thinking of trading Soto because he turned down their latest extension offer that would be the largest ever in MLB. He isn't a FA until 2024. It's beyond me how stupid the Nationals are to throw record money at a guy who has 21.3 fWAR through roughly 2400 PA while Mike Trout had over 38 fWAR in just over 2800 PA to start his career. Sure Soto is a very good player, but he really isn't in the top Tier of talent to be breaking the bank, Having said that, the Nationals are smart to not want that Asset to evaporate even if it means pissing off some of their fans, although most of them are still enjoying being a WS champion something as Brewer fans we can only dream about.
  17. You may need to add a diagram to your post because it's just not getting through. It's amazing the gymnastics that some will go through regarding McCutcheon. Has he been better than his abysmal start to the season? Sure, but in over 300 PA he's still negative fWAR. Maybe he get's to 1 by the end of the year, he surely will be in the lineup every day so maybe he'll make it up in volume... Go back to bashing Hiura while carrying 3 catchers, 1 of whom missed half the season because he's stupid and won't be available in the playoffs.
  18. Silly me bringing facts and logic to a cliche and strawman argument.
  19. I don't really think it's the coaches. It's the hitters. They just aren't very good. Adames had a great streak for about 3 months last year, but he hasn't approached those numbers and he'll likely be above average and not elite. Rowdy was given away and his streakiness and overall production is about average. Cutch is crap, Yelich is bad Marlin Yelich and his days of ever being elite again are gone. Renfroe hits like a player the Red Sox and 3 other organizations just gave away. Wong is a typical Cardinals reject (i.e. his best days were long gone). Narvaez is above average, but he also spends months hitting like a replacement level player. Taylor is average at best. Average, average, average. When they face very good pitching they are overmatched.
  20. At least you are consistent with your selective use of facts. Yes, of course pitchers adjust to hitters and hitters need to adjust to those adjustments, repeat. It's a constant adjustment not just a 1-2. Maybe given the pandemic and his mom's cancer it just took him longer to make the necessary adjustments, or he's just a crappy hitter that just by luck makes solid enough contact against RHP that he hits at a historic HR rate. Yep must ONLY be luck. And what are his numbers this year? Like 2019 or 2020,2021? Your fixation on his miniscule AB against RHP is really mind boggling. He never had a similar split in 2020 or 2021 or a "streak" near what he has put together in 2022. Is it even possible for you to imagine that maybe he's made some adjustments and the result is what we see in 2022. Maybe not at the pace of Babe Ruth, but he may be somewhere between the 2019 and the 2020/21 version of Keston Hiura? McCutcheon has a NEGATIVE WAR so far, NEGATIVE, while Hiura is at 0.8 fWAR, yet they trot Cutch out every day and Hiura gets sent to the minors so they can keep 3, yes 3 friggin catchers while 2 of them have available options. Yeah, I know you don't sit a Free Agent in Milwaukee because heaven forbid you require them to actually be productive, like other teams, because the next time we try to sign someone with no other options you want that FA to think so positively about the Brewers that they'll sign, even though they don't have a single other offer.
  21. When Keston was putting up lines of 0.200 OPS and wRC+ of 4, I was all over the Brewers for continuing to have him work out his issues at the Major League level. They decided it was fun for the fans and the rest of the team to see him struggle. Now he's actually putting up decent numbers and they decide to send him to the minors. Yep that makes a ton of sense. Who cares if he K's 45-50% of the time if he's giving you wRC+ of 128. Do we need to have a discussion of how strikeouts are so similar to any other out in overall value that they can be treated the same? Sure k% can be a predictor of future success, but they have nothing to do with current production. And while stats can be predictors, there is nothing that is accurate enough that they don't have plenty of exceptions. I'm sure the Brewers are looking at Keston's splits and they are thinking it doesn't make any sense. Which is simply the trend when looking at tons of historical data. There just isn't any reason he should have reverse splits that are sustainable so they continue to use him counter to his splits. Fine, but if a trend continue why buck the trend simply because you don't believe it? Yes they do and forums like this exist where we debate the moves the team makes. Simply to cop out with "the team has more info" indicates that maybe there's no need to have these forums because why should anyone ever comment on what the team has done when the team will always have more data. Like the Brewers success in the MLB draft. Here we are 10 years into the Stearns tenure and we still have a farm system in the bottom third. Yep they CLEARLY know so much more than other teams and us. They are just dunking in everyone's face. Oops. Forgot the unwritten rule that we shouldn't ever question management. Brock, turn off the lights and shut the door. That's rich from someone who said I was salty with my previous comment. Why don't you use his career stats? Why do you parse out a subset? Because it supports your argument while all his numbers weakens your point? Is that you being sweet to my salty?
  22. Because one supports their argument and the other doesn't.
  23. Yep, I'm sure that's exactly how they made their decision. Stearns: "let's look for players who've exceeded expectations who are clearly headed for a regression and send them down" Staff: "Well we already released Cain, but wouldn't he be someone you keep because he's headed for a super-hot streak regression?" Stearns": "Too late, we need to find players who clearly are hitting way too good and are definitely going to regress". Staff: "We don't have any". Stearns: "What? No Regression Candidates?" Staff: "No, No good hitters" Stearns: "What about Hiura?" Staff: "I guess, but how do you know he's going to regress?" Stearns: "Well he's just hitting too well" Staff: "But how do we know he can't continue to hit?" Stearns: "I don't know, pick some stat and some split that justifies sending him down and keeping 5 catchers. There's gotta be something. "
  24. Is the 0-2 record by those 4* (Williams was out) in last years playoffs what scares other teams the most or the 2 shutouts or 6 total runs in 4 games that the pathetic offense (probably better than this years) was able to muster?
