  1. On one hand, I can see a GM going down the list and saying "I want three of these guys." Because they have some potential. On the other hand, GMs aren't just looking at the Brewers; they'd have to like our guy more than all the other available players from the other teams. Plus usually there aren't many players who get selected. Turang is the only one that should definitely be protected. Richards and Uribe haven't been healthy; unless a GM has had a man-crush on them for years, I don't see them getting selected. I know Robinson has been very good, but it's only for one year. What kind of stuff does he have? Most teams don't put their best prospects in the pen. I can't see a GM getting excited unless he throws 98mph. He's very young to be eligible. Devanney has been good only this year. He wasn't a highly touted prospect. I've got to believe that most teams have someone they think is better in the minors. I think his floor is eventually as a AAAA callup, like Reyes or Mathias. That has little value. . Of course some of those guys turn into Jace, who has more value.

  3. If what you say is true, they aren't behaving very professionally. Time for them to grow up.
  4. You mean protected from the minor league rule five draft, right? I can't imagine a big league club thinking there was enough upside to commit to keeping him on the roster all season.
  5. so you're saying he's gonna a be a 30 HR guy next year?
  6. I predict he will be traded for a bag of balls no later than June. Perhaps sooner.
  7. How about that Peralta fellow? So, we can feel good about that.
  8. Taylor doesn't have much of a future with the brewers unless their AAA prospects suck.
  9. It's how MLB is played circa 2022.
  10. So Wiemer is back doing Wiemer things. Hope he ends the season strong, and has a decent shot at making the team out of spring training.
  11. he's been hot, but not a typical leadoff hitter compared to the others. And he's not really a prospect.
  12. Dorrian batting first is a head scratcher with Ruiz and Mitchell in the lineup. But early results are promising. ?
  13. He hit over .250 in every season before this one. At his age, he could still get better. The ceiling might be his performance with the brewers last year.
  14. I'd sign him to a minor league contract and invite him to major league spring training, in the off chance he might bounce back. But otherwise, no.
  15. Yes, but also Yes.
  16. Then why complain about last night's setback?
  17. In game threads there is much gnashing of teeth about how terrible our offense is. However, compared to typical teams, this simply is not true. 2022: MKE Runs scored: 555. Median team's runs scored: 532. So we're plus 23. 2021: MKE Runs scored: 738. Median team's runs scored: 726. So we were plus 12 in the full season. Relative to the median team, we're better in 2022 than in 2021. Let's look at the Pitching .2022: MKE Runs allowed: 532. Median team's runs allowed: 528.5. So we've allowed 3.5 MORE runs than the median team. 2021: MKE Runs allowed: 735. Median team's runs allowed: 623. So we were allowing 112 FEWER runs than the median team in the full season. So clearly, the thing that is making the brewers worse this year compared to last year is that our pitching/defense is mediocre instead of elite. It's not unreasonable to think that our pitching could bounce back for the rest of the year. It needs to happen soon.
  18. Did anyone think Rosenthal would just have a tuneup game or two and be back in the majors? Last night's bump in the road is probably not significant.
  19. With last year's Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Lauer and Houser, that's exactly what we have. If they don't perform, we don't have a chance to go far. Period.
  20. I believe next year is closer to an "all-in" year rather than a "start over" year. so we keep (at least most of) our rotation. Our excess is at promising minor league OFs, so we should consider moving one of them in a trade to help us elsewhere. Frelick and Chourio are the ones I don't want to lose. We could use a corner-infielder/DH. If we can replace Tellez or move Urias to a 2b/utility role, that would be great. McCutchen and Davis should be gone. Frelick replaces one. The other is replaced by a signee or someone from the farm. If we can resign Taylor Rogers to a decent contract (2 years @ 7M or less), we do; otherwise we find the best guy we can at that price. The improvement comes from our existing pitching (which has underperformed this year), or the marginal changes we make. If Frelick get's promoted and hits .290, and the pitching performs, I think we're in great shape.
  21. He does now. ? This isn't rocket science. Our chances have always been to rely on our starting pitching (6 or more IP, 2 or less runs, have the back of the bullpen closing it out). When we do that, we usually win, regardless of the competition. When we don't, we usually lose. If we have faith in our pitching, we have every reason to remain positive. We just need to get back to the days when Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, and Lauer were all pitching like aces.
  22. just for precision. . . it is possible there would be another 8 game slate, if all 4 teams are playing double-headers.
  23. I'm feeling pretty good about a 2024 major league lineup where Frelick, Ruiz, Mitchell, and Turang are filling out the 1,2,3, and 9 slots in the order (in no particular order).
