Woo QP Miz CPatrick Harrison LoganHend. 6 man rotation though with the early off days it may not break camp that way.

Oh this is most def my anti-Wilken/Adams bias.

Fischer has a MUCH better chance than Wilken or LAdams

Neither Bauers nor AVaughn will have the most innings at 1B this year. AAshby assumes the old Hader multi-inning role and Drohan assumes the old bullpen Burnes role by June 1st to surprisingly good success. We make a trade with the Rays again at the deadline. WS in October.

If you knew going into the Williams trade that you would have a 3B that would have the best WAR year of that reliever you traded away....even if it was just for last year of the contract for the third baseman, so a straight up one year for deal for one year deal, I think you do it. In addition you get two pitching prospects with many many years of control..... then you really do it. The problem may be that we don't have a Brock Wilken or Luke Adams with a OPS of over 1.0 in the minors knocking in the door begging us to get rid of that rookie of the year candidate at third base who did have many yrs of control... so now we are all on edge waiting for the other shoe to drop.

How is Wilken not the odd man out in this situation? (Pratt to 3rd with Jett and Jesus at SS)

And he can play outfield a lot better than Taylor or Zobrist...Garrett Mitchell is far from done deal success.

Will be interesting to track Gore's prospects haul vs our two prospects. Rightly or wrongly, in my mind, they will be tied together and tracked for a long time.

Love this as Quero needs ABs and a "prove it" year.

In the last year of Yuniesky Betancourt's career he played in 137 games at 6 positions and had 409 plate appearances for the 2013 Brewers. Sadly, he was the worst player in baseball but had YB had talent and upside, those numbers would probably not have led to that losing season. Bottom line, there is value in super subs if they have skill.

If Williams had the same numbers in the minors last year but was 6'2 would that be ok? Sounds like we are selling jeans here. That being said, I too had an idea of what Freddy would return and it didn't involve these two or the Mets...

So the Cubs just traded for Cabrera. With what the Cubs gave up, how do you think this impacts any potential Peralta deal in your mind? Does it give us a little clearer vision on the landscape of what it would take to move Peralta?

Burnes was also highly reliable for 32-ish starts a year until it wasn't in Arizona. We don't know when wear and tear impacts the shoulders or ligaments or elbows on these guys. I'm just glad we have the depth we have going into 2026.

Do we? We do have a full major league roster but the two Cali boys can't make it a full year. We have Luis Lara and the Indiana infielder that moved to the outfield during the Arizona fall league... but I'm not as optimistic on the rest of those guys in the minors as you must be. Oh I'm sorry...I completely forgot about Tyler Black and whatever he may be moving forward.

I can see your point also these MILW lists have more to do with the drafting and development of other names rather than just TBlack falling. It was telling that he did not get a sniff of a call up when Lockridge was acquired. He is not getting any younger and as others have stated he has a very low trade value. But I am willing to see what 2026 brings.

Wow. @sveumrules you really went above and beyond. Thank you!

Called strike three from Angel happens... Announcers probably: "He got Zerped!"

This is my problem with the BA top 100 prospect list. This kids been on the top 100 list more than one a year and yet he's actually useless in a trade, useless at the Major League level, and useless in the field. On the other hand, his time in Milwaukee doesn't sound like a good fit. It definitely looks like we're trying to put a fish in a tree and his differentiation and better value would be found on another roster.

Excellent post but maybe compare vs recent WS winners and also the 1982 Brewer roster that came so close. Point being, I'm not sure I care about the 9th best starter on the 2025 Colorado Rockies. But comparing how a World Series contender (Charlie Moore or Gantner) grappled with such a low-end earner in the starting nine is interesting to me. We are contenders after all each and every year and that's the comparison I'm interested in. Not taking anything away from the original post; it was outstanding and a high level contribution.

I wouldn't be surprised if new Royals hitting coach/ former co-hitting coach for the Brewers, Connor Dawson, had some words in the ear when the Royals were choosing a hitter in this deal. Isn't this a typical Milwaukee deal? We trade for someone who has some dings, who has some flaws... we polish them up in the pitching lab and they contribute. If anything this tells me that Gasser and Ashby and maybe Hall are going to get significant looks in the rotation and they will be stretched out for the entire year in 2026. Z and Z and Koening among others maybe Connor Thomas and some Triple A left-handed pitching will be in the bullpen. Maybe DL Hall gets traded because of this move?

@BrewerFan So much to unpack. I am not going to be able to go line item fisking a reply as time doesn't allow it but, despite the 👎 I appreciate your take and time to type it out. Long story short, I am suspect of Wilken's K rate but acknowledge that his OPS and pop would be useful. Why Tre Morgan when we have Luke Adams at home? Tre gets on base without relying on HBP (to me it seems more sustainable) and is slick with the glove...plus there are a lot of bodies ahead of him currently in TB. We will need to pare back some of the prospects and I am hung up on a few that are highly ranked but fail to get on the 26 man roster with any consistency. Car Rod is getting pushed back from the rotation since his days of the Intl World Series and Tyler Black was passed over for Lockridge and Lockridge is just a guy (fine with Nester leaving but JQuintana could have been kept/traded elsewhere if Black was the call). TBlack is not going to be our 1B next year and I think AVaughn might revisit planet Earth in 2026 and need some support. That is basically it for him. Nacho feels like he should be on this team now with his walks and position optionality that includes SS (unlike Durbin) so that is why I went for him too. For all the clamoring to trade for Willi Castro, why not pick one up that is maybe cheaper (during the offseason) and under control. Trade speculation is not zero sum, plenty of make believe to go around. I'd love to see a true ace come in and push everyone back in the rotation or a 3B with Ramirez-like potential but the Brewers are going to Brew. The comment about not noticing the PTBNL was directed elsewhere. That's all...thanks for the interaction.

I think we are overvaluing our own prospects and the worth of pitchers that are strictly relievers in the minors...that and no one reads AA or A pitcher to be named later. That being said, I would love to see the walk machine that is Nacho Alvarez to be our Willi Castro next year. He is a strong defender with some pop and he is only 22 and has done will at AAA for Atlanta. He can spell 3 positions and might take over one if he gets hot. Pair him with Tre Morgan and you have a very Arnold-esque offseason. I will not speculate on the package to be sent out for Tre Morgan and Nacho Alvarez but it would not break my heart if Arnold dealt any combination of Tyler Black, DLHall, Yoho, Wilken, and Car Rod over the summer in various and different deals...

That is why I am proposing the Brewers don't address a direct need but make this trade anyway... DLHall and Yoho for Tre Morgan 1B TB and a AA or A starting pitcher to be named later Morgan is a silky smooth LHB that does not strike out a lot (...Brewer already). He is stuck behind Aranda and Xavier Isaac. Morgan and Vaughn platooning would add insurance in case the other falters and be cheap at it. Morgan has some experience in the outfield too (like a rich man's Bauers). TB and MKE do enough deals to know each other well enough to make this happen.

See if Jansen wants to stay since Quero has more injury issues. Vaughn to first and if TBlack cannot use a glove at first to split time there, and the team will bring in Lockridge at the deadline over promoting from within, then this offseason it is time to let Tyler take his talents elsewhere. Sign an all-everything Castro/IKF to have around if Ortiz is just going to be a reserve level hitter. Bring in all those beautiful starting pitchers and let them have at it!! Looking forward to it.
