@BrewerFan So much to unpack. I am not going to be able to go line item fisking a reply as time doesn't allow it but, despite the 👎 I appreciate your take and time to type it out. Long story short, I am suspect of Wilken's K rate but acknowledge that his OPS and pop would be useful. Why Tre Morgan when we have Luke Adams at home? Tre gets on base without relying on HBP (to me it seems more sustainable) and is slick with the glove...plus there are a lot of bodies ahead of him currently in TB. We will need to pare back some of the prospects and I am hung up on a few that are highly ranked but fail to get on the 26 man roster with any consistency. Car Rod is getting pushed back from the rotation since his days of the Intl World Series and Tyler Black was passed over for Lockridge and Lockridge is just a guy (fine with Nester leaving but JQuintana could have been kept/traded elsewhere if Black was the call). TBlack is not going to be our 1B next year and I think AVaughn might revisit planet Earth in 2026 and need some support. That is basically it for him. Nacho feels like he should be on this team now with his walks and position optionality that includes SS (unlike Durbin) so that is why I went for him too. For all the clamoring to trade for Willi Castro, why not pick one up that is maybe cheaper (during the offseason) and under control. Trade speculation is not zero sum, plenty of make believe to go around. I'd love to see a true ace come in and push everyone back in the rotation or a 3B with Ramirez-like potential but the Brewers are going to Brew. The comment about not noticing the PTBNL was directed elsewhere. That's all...thanks for the interaction. -

I think we are overvaluing our own prospects and the worth of pitchers that are strictly relievers in the minors...that and no one reads AA or A pitcher to be named later. That being said, I would love to see the walk machine that is Nacho Alvarez to be our Willi Castro next year. He is a strong defender with some pop and he is only 22 and has done will at AAA for Atlanta. He can spell 3 positions and might take over one if he gets hot. Pair him with Tre Morgan and you have a very Arnold-esque offseason. I will not speculate on the package to be sent out for Tre Morgan and Nacho Alvarez but it would not break my heart if Arnold dealt any combination of Tyler Black, DLHall, Yoho, Wilken, and Car Rod over the summer in various and different deals... -

That is why I am proposing the Brewers don't address a direct need but make this trade anyway... DLHall and Yoho for Tre Morgan 1B TB and a AA or A starting pitcher to be named later Morgan is a silky smooth LHB that does not strike out a lot (...Brewer already). He is stuck behind Aranda and Xavier Isaac. Morgan and Vaughn platooning would add insurance in case the other falters and be cheap at it. Morgan has some experience in the outfield too (like a rich man's Bauers). TB and MKE do enough deals to know each other well enough to make this happen. -

See if Jansen wants to stay since Quero has more injury issues. Vaughn to first and if TBlack cannot use a glove at first to split time there, and the team will bring in Lockridge at the deadline over promoting from within, then this offseason it is time to let Tyler take his talents elsewhere. Sign an all-everything Castro/IKF to have around if Ortiz is just going to be a reserve level hitter. Bring in all those beautiful starting pitchers and let them have at it!! Looking forward to it. -
Quintana is a good prospect to trade with Pena/Made et al rising up fast. But the Brewers also invested 1.7mil into his signing and seems to come away with someone that could have been waived. Speed and Defense needs to be said like Maximus Meridius says Strength and Honor WHYYY did we not get Kai Murphy in this trade as well?? How much extra would it have cost Arnold??? Seems like it would have been nice to have him in the system and it is not like San Diego is developing him as a hitter...
-
Joey Meyer and Billy Joe Robidoux tore up El Paso too...
-
Tyler Black can hit and his best position on the MLB roster would literally be reserve OF.

Jadher was easily the most movable ranked player we had in the minors. This is a nice move. Jansen has been a big league catcher for a while and they are not free. Areinamo is behind several other infielders and we needed some pop and we don't know how bad that Contreras finger really is...we can only see the drop in slugging. They have been high on Jansen and, I am thinking, have not liked the Haase ABs. Yes, Jadher may go on to play for 15 years in the MLB but this is the price of doing business if you want to be more secure in a playoff run. Hopefully it is the start of more shoring up the roster that is roughly 20 wins over .500.

Miz is on a pitch count and will not throw a lot of innings from here on out. Piggyback him with one of the vet lefties as Murphy will want all the experience he can hold onto moving forward in the stretch run. I don't think this is the biggest deal. Contreras' slugging of late, Ortiz drifting back to pre-All-star game stats, and the overall lack of pop seems a bigger deal. On the plus side, we are set for starters next year it would seem and a year of CPatrick, Logan H, and Miz sounds great. Gasser and Myers may return to form as well. AAshby and DL Hall look to do more in 2026 so that is a very nice problem to have as well.

He is 5'9" 172...perfect fit. Hits righties on the split pretty well this year. I just think that a young controllable starter is fine for a controllable UTL player. I think Tobias Myers is up to showcase that he still has it at the MLB level. Mears, CCrow (Tex has 4 starters over 33) and Quintana (ss) for Smith plus one. Now go get OHearn (to pair with Hoskins) and GSoto (to fill in for Mears and knock Koening down the ladder a bit) for TobMyers, Areinamo, and a Mudcat starter. TBlack and AVaughn at 1st next year till the kids come up.

A really cool thing about being a Brewer fan in Asia is waking up to an 8-1 Freddy four hitter and new draft picks. It feels like Christmas morning :) -

Burke, Bitoni, Wilken are all moreso in play now. -
Other SS that we could overpay for.

LAA are absolutely buggered in the minors. They would jump at any chance to shave a bit of cream off the top of MKE's great system. This might be the way but offer prospects across all levels of the minors...and keep the pitching at home. Any fair value combination of JQuintana (inf), Pratt, TBlack, or Yoho plus a comp pick. -
2025 Roster/Trade Ideas
BrewCrew8675309 replied to jay87shot's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
This 100%. Mis pitched 97 minor league innings last year and is sitting on 89 now. Quintana was 175 in MLB. It is fine to have a vet rotation and lose a couple of lefties in the offseason. Mis and AAshby in the playoffs would be great to plug for a couple of shutdown innings if things get spicy in innings 2-6 and then leave the standard Koening, AU, Megill trio to shut things down later. Bases loaded in the 5th...here comes the Mis for two innings of intensity. Woo, Peralta, Quintana, Cortes (if things go as planned) and DLHall/QP for the rest of the 162 and then take our chances with all those arms vs the world. I would not mind a field player added in exchange for any combination of: EMJr, CarRod, Wich, CCrow, JQuintana (inf), Wilken, and/or Peguero ...ALL of those players have others who make them redundant...this normally happens after drafting a few studs at those positions as well. (i.e. A first round 3B would lessen the sting of losing Wilken in a trade) BOLD MOVE ALERT-- Zastryzny comes back and AAshby is traded in a huge trade for field player(s)...he is youngish, controllable, and can start in the future after showing he has the goods now. All the reason that his value might be the best for a trade. -
Yes, I know Paul Skenes is not getting traded this year. I was wondering how many Brewer assets would it have taken if he was on the market (and PIT had no issue trading within the NLCentral). Using Soto as a baseline, he was moved for Robert Hassell III (minors), Jarlin Susana (minors), CJ Abrams, MacKenzie Gore, Luke Voit and James Wood. Assuming Skenes brings more with more years of control, what would it have taken to get him here? I will say that Misiorowski is off the table and needed later in this fever dream of a proposal. Starting off...Made, Letson, Quero, Bitioni, Logan H, CarlosFRod (p), Garret Mitchell (once healthy), and one of Pena, Quintana, DiTuri Notice how I said "starting off"...it is because I am looking for how much it would have taken to get it done. Since no one is ever happy with the first take...was it...Too much youth? Not enough Top 100s? More MLB starters needed? BTW...PIT throws in IKF and Suwinski as well. Skenes, Peralta, Misiorowski, Quintana (CPatrick till Jose is ready), Woody (QPriester till Brandon is ready), and NCortes (bullpen arms till Nester is ready) would be a fun 6 man rotation, if wanted, with TMyers, CP, and QP as well as AAshby and DLHall able to steal starts if needed OR get ready to replace starters one year guys in 2026. Keep Peralta with the Rhys' $ and what would you trade to see that rotation this year and for the next 5 years...no future 3B there but a whole lot of fun to watch!!
-
Jesus Made He will get a Jackson-esque contractCraig Yoho Higher chance to thrive as a reliever than Misiorowski as a start so Yoho at #2.Jacob Misiorowski If he can put it together, then he could top this list. Curveball consistency the key?Bishop Letson I think he can be the total package.Robert Gasser Past MLB success has him penciled in the rotation whenever he comes back.Luis Pena Power and youth leads the way. Can he excel at third? If so, path gets clearer. Braylon Payne OBP and D alone make him top 10...if he can SLG too, then this will be his floorCooper Pratt We are so close to seeing Robin Yount 2.0 in Milwaukee with this one. Needs to be consistent at every level. Cannot wait for him to go to the bigs. Jeferson Quero Low because of the serious injury. Will be higher if he proves he is back, but then he displaces Haase quickly. Eric Bitonti Lefty bat will play and his numbers look good. So high up because he doesn't have glaring swing and miss nature...for now. Carlos F Rodriguez Only this low because he was called up too early last year and did not produce enough to stay up. Looks great now and looked great pitching for his country. Can start in the MLB and not be a #5.Manuel Rodriguez Has a long way to go but that is what these lists are all about. WHIP needs to stay down as the KO/9 stays over 9Josh Adamczewski Must sustain success all the way up but a 2B that hits like this needs to be high up. Mike Boeve I still believe you can wake him up and he will hit doubles for you...shame we always have to wake him from a hospital bed?Marco Dinges A catcher that hits will be top 20 over a high draft pick that cannot hit. I think this kid is on to something. Josh Knoth Injured but spin rate. Huge upside at 19. Brock Wilken Is time already running out on Brock? Plays a premium position and can get on base. Almost assured of a cup of coffee, something not every prospect can say. Jose Anderson Taller than Lara, younger than others, and costs a lot of money so he gets this space.Filippo Di Turi Much higher on young INF than other prospects. Decent start to 2025 so hope remains. Pena and Quintana could also very well be here.K.C. Hunt More so than the Patricks and Hendersons of the world, I think KC Hunt is more likely to follow a Burnesian path from AA to the pen to the rotation than others. His early 2025 ERA is not good, but he always seems to have a low WHIP and a KO/9 that is +9.0. I really like that in young arms. Tyler Black, Luke Adams, Wes Clarke? When and where are they going to play in the MLB?? I am over the top 100 ranking for a player than cannot get on the field. Chad Patrick and Logan Henderson are great stories and I hope that they continue to have MLB success, but I see regression coming. I really, really debated on adding Yerlin Rodriguez as I love the Ks and the arm but getting old-ish for A ball. Cornielle, Gillis, Hardin, Wicho, Holobetz could all be here...but I was going to go with the closer. Not enough of a pedigree on the others listed here. If they continue to do well and show up like KC Hunt then I will add them in the future. EMJr strikes out too much for me. CCrow is too injured. Everyone else, I simply do not know too much more about....including Jorge Quintana whom I may love as he is a young INF but no to Jadher as I hate his swing.

Brewers trade for RHP Quinn Priester
BrewCrew8675309 replied to Ron Robinsons Beard's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I loved Shane Smith and his journey (I am from near WFU) and put him up there with KC Hunt (rightly or wrongly). There was a real argument for keeping Shane Smith and now it seems to be coming to bear. It is my hope that they see something in QP that they can jump on with the pitching lab AND know that they will be drafting OFs in June as this this team drafts over tradeable players. -
Brewers place Colin Rea on waivers
BrewCrew8675309 replied to liveforoctober's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
It is very possible that the team values the kids being added to the 40 man roster moreso than some fringe vets. Knowing $$$ will be tight, as it always is with this team/owner, the Ernesto Martinez' of the world may get a longer leash than the Jake Bauer's of the world. Same for Rea and some AA kids like Shane Smith. We will see. -

2024-25 Offseason Ideas
BrewCrew8675309 replied to jay87shot's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
That is a great question. Black is the #2 1B prospect on MLB.com. I would rather trade Hoskins to NYY (if he is trade eligible) as they desperately need to figure out their 1B position and Black (and Wilken?) need ABs. Rhys and Milner for Chase Hampton (AA). I would like to see Sal, Bryse, and Lara and maybe a sub top-20 fielder (type deal as we never know the real value that LAA has for these guys) for TStephanson as he is now on the last year of his contract. LAA have little to no prospects of note and we could send some youth there to resurrect their system. TStephanson, Freddy, Rea, TMyers, Civale and if 6 starters is desired one from: DL Hall if he can throw strikes, Woody when he is up to it, Gasser the same, Misi when ready, Logan Henderson is going to be asking for a shot, CRod may go back to World Baseball Classic form next year, AAshby may start executing pitches and by mid-season KC Hunt and Shane Smith may be knocking on the door. Devin Williams is getting to be a prized target that we could probably move. We did well for the first half and while we do want him sharp for this stretch run, he is an UFA after 2025. Megill, Means, Payamps, Peguero, Abner when healthy, Yoho will be up next year, BHudson, Koenig, Herget, Paredes, or JB Buk if he can stay healthy. Other kids will emerge too and Hall and Misi may see some time over here like Burnes did growing up. It is easier to find a core 6 and 2 to move around up and down out of that grouping. With Martin and Jansen being older UFAs, Devin to BOS for David Sandlin (AA), Jedixson Paez (A) and PTBNL. As none of us work in front offices, assume that all trade offers have wiggle room to add/subtract players. I am thinking that I am only directionally accurate in my wants. I am looking for controllable youth and supporting losses from within (Boeve/Wilken for Adames as Ortiz slides over, Black for Sal in the OF and some time at 1B with Bauers to cover Rhys' departure, and Yoho and a host of others pushing Payamps, Means, and Megill into higher leverage situations). AChapman and Pivetta could be signed to support the pitching. OF depth could be signed during the offseason as well. -
Speaking of rotations. 2024-2025 Freddy, Rea, TMyers, Civale and then we have ShSmith, Maybe Misi, Logan Hendo, Get Gasser back, Maybe AAshby finds some form, CRod should do well with a little more seasoning, DLHall might find health and then we have the motherload of Woody coming back to form which is lovely to think about.
