    Monasterio had to prove that absolutely everyone on this team can come up big.

    M LB likes to change rules to stop what the Brewers do to win more than they should. They used the unrestricted September call-ups to great effect, so that got limited to two players. They used options to keep fresh arms in the pen, so the number of times a player can be optioned in a season. They used the shift more than other teams, and that got banned (I'm good with the shift ban, though). So now the league has to figure out how to stop fundamentally sound play, aggressive base running, and good pitching.

    He was told to hit line drives when the Brewers called him up. It seems that mindset with the other minor changes have him focused on good contact and not max power, and good things happen with good contact.

    It would be interesting to see the number of unearned runs the Brewers have scored, compared to other teams. I suspect it's pretty high, but i can't find that statistic anywhere.

    Ortiz has a .391 average and a .983 ops in August. He has responded to not losing his starting job in spectacular fashion.

    George Webb has gotten way too much free advertising this season. Time for them pay out.

    Since May 17th, the Brewers are playing at a .721 clip. Their record was 49-19 over those games. So 30-18 would be cooling off from how they have been playing for the last 2,5 months.

    The pitchers did a good job making a 7-2 game a nail-biter.

    The Brewers are a case of the whole being better than the sum of the parts. They just work.
