  1. If there's any time for a west coast swing, it's right after the All-Star break. Plenty of rest and more time to travel and adjust to the time change.
  2. The only thing Woody owes the Brewers is to pitch to the best of his abilities the rest of the season. Given his first two starts, he's doing just that. After that he only owes himself to do what is right for him and his family.
  3. He was given the green light because of the situation and just missed a hittable pitch. It was a reasonable gamble. Fortunately Collins didn't miss his pitch.
  4. Colbert had a great roast of the new hats. Starting at 2:45 of this clip:
  5. Not really. The playoff games only generated 24 pages. There's a lot to continually talk about during a game. As big as this is for the Brewers, once you've said your peace, there isn't much else to say. Also, it's easy to say something when something great happens, or vent when something makes you mad. But sad? That just causes you to be choked up, and the words don't always come. Since I haven't said my thoughts yet, I know that I will really miss hearing that first game of the season. When the first pitch was thrown and you could hear the energy and excitement in his voice. Maybe there was snow on the ground and everything else was wrong in the world, but there was one thing that was just right. He wasn't just a seasoned pro calling the game. He was a fan with the privilege of sharing the game with those of us who couldn't be there. Springs, and summers, will never be the same.
  6. Does anyone know who decides what gets played during mound visits? I ask because I've heard some unexpected music during mound visits. A few years ago at Brewers home games they would often play the theme from Blazing Saddles. But the one that really got me was a series at Wrigley where the several times played the theme from Castle in the Sky. A MLB game is an odd place to hear a piece from a classic anime movie, especially one that is lyrical and a bit melancholy.
  7. Chris Sale, Adbert Alzolay. I'm sure there are others, but I can't find them with a quick search. My mind linked the two right away, but didn't save the sources.
  8. As long as Cortes is healthy and that flexor strain doesn't come back and turn into TJ surgery by May, this is a good trade for the Brewers. I am concerned that it will, as these injuries can look better after rest and then come back with a vengeance when pitching resumes.
  9. Was Frelik's bat good enough to win the golden glove? As for Yelich, maybe the reluctance to move him to first is because the movements he'd need to make there would put his back at additional injury risk.
  10. Love hearing Uke say 'Hee struck him out!'
  11. Nice between starts bullpen session by Freddie.
  12. Looking at bWAR, he's in the top 1 to wear 19 for the majority of his career in all of baseball history.
  13. But they are still I contention for worst 162-game season.
  14. I was just noting the general annoyance of the Cockroaches to always come back late in the season. Every time you think they are dead and dusted, they go on a 12-2 run and are right back in it. If the Brewers have >90 wins and take the division, Murphy should get Manager of the Year. The number of injuries to the staff, particularly the starters is ridiculous.
  15. Sure, it's nice to see the Cubs fade, especially after they stole CC from us. It's a long season and I still think CC is good at squeezing wins out of a roster, but managers are more or less bystanders when players are in a slump. The thing that really annoys me is the St. Louis Cockroaches are in second. (I call them the Cockroaches because they are near impossible to get rid of).
  16. I love listening to Uke call the games, but the man is 90. Not a whole lot of the people who make it to 90 are still working. I'll enjoy whatever he's able to give us this year.
  17. Given that betting on baseball is the one unforgivable sin in baseball, I expect that MLB will take a very close and fair look at this. The only way Ohtani should be fully cleared is if he really did know nothing about his interpreter and close friend gambling. It might be a little gray as isn't Ohtani gambling, but If they find something along the lines of the interpreter telling Ohtani something like I've got 10K riding on you this game, there should be mulit-year suspension if not a lifetime ban. If Ohtani said he'd cover him if they lost, then it should be a lifetime ban, no question.
  18. The parking change sounds like a huge improvement. Last year you could get to within site of the stadium an hour before the game and not make it in until the 3rd inning due to the traffic jams.
  19. He's pointing out the error in the article that says the 1919 White Sox won the series.
  20. 20 game winners are so rare these days that the last time there were 4 of them in the same season in all of MLB was 2012.
  21. He's worth 7M easily. See if he'll go for 5/35. CC gets to reset the market an have a long contract, and the Brewers get stability, plus in 5 years the contract may not seem so large.
  22. Just tell them he was taken in a spaceship along with Elvis. Maybe then they will go away.
  23. 4 grand slams and the Marlins are right in this game.
  24. There isn't a better game day manager in baseball. The Brewers need to do whatever is necessary to keep him.
  25. A 17yo with a fastball that sits 92-96 and touches 98 only gets a 55 grade? I must be getting old. He already looks like he has decent control of that wicked curve. I just hope his arm stays healthy. He looks like a good one.
