  1. If Drohan and Harrison get the Priester treatment from the pitching lab, I can imagine that Red Sox fans will be screaming to never trade starting pitches to the Brewers again. My gut instinct says that this is a good trade for the Brewers, although I am somewhat surprised that they traded so much infield depth in one trade. The Brewers usually need all the depth they can get in a season.
  2. It sounds like they have people who can take film and break ir down to the pitching components, a lot of built up data and understanding, and some really good people who can not just tell the pitchers what to change, not just show them what they mean, but also listen to the pitchers during the feedback session. People, data and culture, so even poaching a guy or two, it would take years and commitment to get everything up and running. Also, the Brewers have had documented success with their methods. That gives the pitchers more incentive to make the recommended changes.
  3. Yes. He was tagged in the tenders which made him flinch enough to jump off second.
  4. I think the list is a great idea and well done. I also think it will be depressing to watch the best players in those lists go to the big market, free spending clubs.
  5. Bullpen games are better with these guys coming out of the pen.
  6. Now Vaughn isn't the only Brewer to hit a 3-run bomb in the playoffs.
  7. Chourio!!! Brewers can hit HRs too!
  8. As often as Durbin gets hit, I'm surprised he doesn't wear an elbow pad.
  9. He was pumped enough to hit 100 on an underhanded toss,
  10. Both Cubs pitchers have thrown more pitches than Freddie.
  11. Chourio is halfway to the cycle in the first inning.
  12. He took inspiration from Dusty Baker.
  13. 6? There are 6 games left and the Brewers have a 3 game lead over Philly for best overall record so the magic number is 3 for best record.
  14. There's never a bad time to win a game.
  15. M LB likes to change rules to stop what the Brewers do to win more than they should. They used the unrestricted September call-ups to great effect, so that got limited to two players. They used options to keep fresh arms in the pen, so the number of times a player can be optioned in a season. They used the shift more than other teams, and that got banned (I'm good with the shift ban, though). So now the league has to figure out how to stop fundamentally sound play, aggressive base running, and good pitching.
  16. He was told to hit line drives when the Brewers called him up. It seems that mindset with the other minor changes have him focused on good contact and not max power, and good things happen with good contact.
  17. It would be interesting to see the number of unearned runs the Brewers have scored, compared to other teams. I suspect it's pretty high, but i can't find that statistic anywhere.
  18. Ortiz has a .391 average and a .983 ops in August. He has responded to not losing his starting job in spectacular fashion.
