  1. Years ago, a fellow by the name of Kameron Loe came in due to injury & I watched him warming up & I knew, I just KNEW he wasn't ready & rushed just like you mentioned. Got clocked. Boy that ticked me off.
  2. Yesterday & today I thought he laid off some stuff he usually chases. Not a world-beater but probably starting to mature as a hitter a little bit.
  3. There is no better illustration of how Brown pitched, than the fact that Brice Turang struck out three times. My best comp is Trevor Megill being on top of his game, when he's ahead of everybody, throwing 99 & then putting the knuckle curve where he wants to, then multiplying that by 90 pitches. Then he got us in the taking strikes-swinging at balls teeter totter. There have been no-nos thrown with worse stuff & location. Was much more disappointed in the ABs vs the bullpen. Obviously Dunn, then Sanchez does everything to work himself into a count (2-1) where he MIGHT get a fastball, then proceeds to swing at two non-fastballs. And we might've won it in the bottom of the 9th, but down a run w/ no one on base Contreras chooses to swing 2-0 vs Neris, who's walked quite a few hitters. Not very smart. I'll have to self-impose a moratorium on my criticism of Adames. He had a hell of a night. And I thought Bauers really competed in his ABs w/o much to show. That's about it offensively. After Chourios' non-catch, I got a kick out of Anderson making his laundry list of excuses/reasons, then saying "But Peralta doesn't want to hear that". Neither do we, Brian. Obviously hope for the best re Megill.
  4. Despite LF being a relatively less challenging spot, they aren't going to give him a lions' share at 1B in Nashville, then move him to Milwaukee & stick him in the OF. If this was in the cards he'd have been auditioning there by now.
  5. Yes, plus we already scored to take the lead. That might make you squeeze the bat handle just a little bit less & relax. But from the postgame interview I thought Adames said he doesn't usually like swinging 3-0. I can't argue with the results. Hell, I would've let Perkins hit instead of using Frelick. It was still a 0-0 game & he's a click better in CF than Frelick, plus Leiter would've turned him over to the left side where he's a better hitter. Good thing I wasn't consulted today.😛
  6. IMO he's thinking just a liiiiitle too much. If you're starting Turang that's fine, just leave him in the leadoff spot & drop everyone down a peg.
  7. Well said. Makes me all the more hopeful that DL Hall can make it back into the rotation, as the presence of these three would limit his BP opportunities and I don't really want Hall being the 13th man on the staff. Perhaps he piggybacks with Wilson, Myers, or whoever.
  8. If this is what we normally get from Paredes it might be a case of losing the battle but winning the war. Down the road I can see a BP that doesn't skip a beat even when you have to shuttle. But yeah, two shots for Yelich come up empty. It happens. And Contreras hits a seed to the right side, one guy playing in about a 50-foot box. Right at him.
  9. AFA I can tell Martin has the attitude that he's 37 years old & therefore you can't bunt on him, like this is a rec league or something. If it was me I'd have had Yelich drag one past him for a hit & RBI, then have Berry pull a bottle of Geritol out of his back pocket & hand it to him.
  10. I get on him a lot, but today was especially unforgettable. If I had a visual template for Willy, it would be in the 1st inning. Looking toward the bench, motioning about the sun or high sky or whatever, all the while with his shades perched on top of his cap. Then afterward, leaving them there.
  11. I had zero problem with that. It was a poor bunt, but that doesn't bother me any more than someone swinging away & popping up or striking out. Good idea, bad execution. He reaches & I doubt Jansen can keep him from stealing 2nd base, thus giving the top of the order a chance to tie it w/a single. Overall though, the 9th looked pathetic vs Jansen. Back-to-back Ks on nothing that was even close to unhittable. He was getting plenty of the plate.
  12. Ortiz has played pretty regularly for quite awhile now, Murphy wants to get him a day, and it happens to be a day (Sunday) when guys sometimes get a blow. Plus it happens to be a RHP throwing for Boston so it makes it more palatable to slide Dunn in there. I don't think it's anything more than that. Alternate theory: Brewerfan has been on the mild side the last couple days, so let's call Ollie Dunn up just to............nah.
  13. Totally different circumstances but this reminds me of Wilbur Wood, a knuckleballer who once started both games of a doubleheader back in the 70s. Lost both games. Wood usually threw around 350-375 innings a year in that 3-4 year stretch. Tip to bettors: take the under with Koenig re innings pitched.🤔
  14. Three effective LH in the pen. Obviously they should all be available tonight so this makes perfect sense. Of course, after three days w/o Turang, Bauers & Frelick in the starting lineup, if Koenig gives up a run or two against their lefties tonight the IGT will grow by about 3 pages lol.
  15. He's earned it. But I didn't expect it. Nice to see the 40-man roster be treated with a little more liquidity recently. That was my guess too, although I can understand them wanting Blalock to get regular work.
  16. Yeah, there will be some moving w/regards to the 40-man in the weeks to come. I particularly miss Bukauskas & hope he can pick up where he left off when IL'ed. Paredes might deserve a shot, he's been very good in AAA. but I don't see him having much of a chance given the upcoming roster crunch (both 40-man & 26). As long as they're both here, I think Myers gets the starting nod over Blalock. I don't see Black for Miller, then Hoskins for Black. I doubt they'd have both Black & Bauers on the roster at the same time while Hoskins is still out. I really don't have a handle on what their plans are re Taylor Clarke. Maybe he replaces White?
  17. If they brought back Black when Hoskins went down they'd have two LHH 1B on the roster, which they wouldn't do nor should they. Wes Clarke was injured & for some odd reason started the year in AA. He's doing very little in Nashville since being promoted. Their only other realistic option was to bring Haase here & pair Sanchez at 1B w/Bauers. Whether it was a palatable decision or not is debatable I guess, but that's how.
  18. As things stand now, I actually think he'd be running out this lineup vs a LHP regardless of the opponent. I would've started Turang in one of these three games, but I get it. Maybe, just maybe his great numbers this year are due to how he's being used. But for those who lament "He'll never get a start vs a LHP", I doubt that. I think some of the consternation would be lessened if Hoskins were available & out there in place of Miller.
  19. After watching Luzardo tonight, the best strategy was to make him work, which every time we tried resulted in an 0-1, 0-2 count. Would've been nice to turn in a bunch of ABs like we did in the 4th (9 pitches to Contreras, 8 to Yelich), but very little 'grinding' of at-bats going on. The guy was probably better than Weathers on Monday, which is saying something. A couple more bunt attempts in front of the hefty 3B before he moved to 1st would've been nice. At least Willy was heads-up. Yep, need to get to 3rd base anyway you can, with 2 outs. For crying out loud.......
  20. I wouldn't be surprised if he was simply going on 1st movement vs the LHP w/2 outs & Luzardo just happened to throw to 1st, which the way this series went isn't surprising. At least the concept of wanting to run made sense, unlike the 2nd inning steal attempt by The Genius.
  21. IF he bounces back from the injury he has the type of elite defensive skills that could make him a centerpiece of a deal, plus the hit tool is an added bonus. Of course, if all those things happen & they're confident he could step in by, say, '26 you'd have the potential to get an even more massive haul for 2 years of Contreras. Right now I'm just hoping Quero comes back strong because if he does they're holding some attractive cards at a premium position.
  22. I think manipulating the timeline just so you can omit Dave Bristol is grossly unfair.
  23. DFA for White is a good guess. I like Koenig & like the idea of him being more of a mainstay but I wonder if not having him available for a few days will weigh heavily in the decision. I wish Hall was further along. Would like to know what the plans are for Vieiras' 40-man spot.
  24. I expected an inning or 2 from Koenig, then Blalock. But I'm not sure who isn't available tomorrow of the guys used other than Koenig (probably optioned) & White. Not saying they won't stay away from people, but I think Wednesday could be the big issue if tomorrow doesn't go well.
