  1. Not a pleasant memory, but I remember him being left out on the mound by Alex Grammas to give up some monstrous run total. Double digit IIRC. Grammas claimed the bullpen was overworked & needed to be saved but there was speculation that he just didn't like the guy.
  2. Happy for Xavier Warren that he was promoted, but what I don't like about it is Cam Devanney will probably see mostly SS the rest of the season at Biloxi. I was kinda hoping they just plant him at 3B & leave him there. Hope to see him there at AAA next year & continue to develop at what has turned into a position of need. I've heard the idea before re Black to 1B & like it. I think Perez is feeling the squeeze with all the OF talent in the system. Could eventually be involved in a trade; really needs to clean up the K issues.

  4. Using that system, I suppose so. But the strength with Milwaukee is in the depth beyond the top 100. I think MLB.com basing it primarily on that is dare I say a little lazy. Plus, I wonder if their rankings (in some cases) lean towards certain organizations. Like in college basketball, a kid is ranked as a 3-star recruit. He gets recruited by Duke & is suddenly a 4-star.

  6. I don't believe I've ever seen the system in better shape, and yes that includes the early 2000s, due to the overall depth. Right now, factoring in the OFs at N'ville (especially if you want to cheat & still include Mitchell) I'd say #19 is too low. Just a magnificent job of rebuilding.

  8. I also think Caratini is brought back but obviously you don't want him playing as often as he had to in the second half. Narvaez IMO was all but gone, but his struggles might put him in a price range they could consider. More likely I think they will look elsewhere. Feliciano impressed me in the very tiny sample he had with Milwaukee. However I think Monty is right in that they feel one more year at the 'Ville would be prudent. Can't wait for Quero.

  10. Devanney has been playing quite a lot at 3B this year, not exactly a position we're deep at. So I hope he squeaks through if left exposed. They aren't still viewing Andrews through a two-way lens, are they?

  12. As far as rolling the dice is concerned, I think we'd be in more danger losing Devanney than Valerio. I think Felix rebounds next year repeating AA (at least to start the season) & re-establishes himself to those whose radar he may have fallen off of. Having said that he had his struggles this season & I can't see him getting plucked. A longshot, but with the universal DH I wonder if someone considers Lutz. Glad to hear the projections re Robinson being protected.

  14. After his first couple seasons, he never quite seemed to make that next jump. I remember having high hopes for him when Bamberger moved him to the pen, thinking he'd fill a much-needed niche. The other thing I remember whenever I think of Augie is the talent pipeline he was a part of at the time at Kewaunee HS. Augustine, Dale Koehler (1000 PT scorer at UW) & Jack Novak (TE at UW & the NFL) were all there within a window of a couple years.

  16. If he can pitch from ahead in the count, I think Cousins can be very, very effective. I was also scratching my head about Kelley coming back, but wouldn't put Strzelecki in the same category. He's been quietly effective in the role he's been asked to fill. My guess is Reetz gets a flier from somebody.

  18. There's a lot of different scenarios here, all of them have merit. Who knows if Adames would be cool with moving to 3B, but it would be a nice plug-in there if he was. But I liked Urias' ascent in '21, and still believe in him. His 2022 has been one of the bigger disappointments for me. If Turang gets plugged in at 2B I have no worries defensively. Even w/o a lot of work there I think he'd be fine, although it's a little curious that if they're thinking of doing that you'd think he'd play there some this year. They've moved him around a little but not to 2B that I know of. He can certainly handle SS but I just have a hard time seeing them move Adames & hand Turang the spot. If I had to guess I'd say the left side of the INF will be the same next April w/ Turang at second. But if there's a trade It'll probably involve getting a 3B, then with the versatility of some of these guys who knows?

  20. The pruning of "AAAA" guys continues at Nashville. With Singleton still there & rotating one of the 4 primary OFs in the DH spot it makes perfect sense. Nice to be able to get a return for White & Almonte, even if it's just cash.

  22. I agree, there's plenty of hope. He's had stretches where he's been very effective, especially before the recent 7-8 day skid. But the effectiveness is pretty much limited to reaching base only. IMO you have to leave him in the leadoff spot, or else hit him 9th.
  23. If you're talking one of the top 8-9 guys in the system for Drury, then I'm all-in on the hoarding philosophy (and I like Drury). A package involving guys in the teens or twenties, sure. Whether we explored that avenue no one knows, but I doubt that would've matched what they got from SD. Peralta or Naquin I agree would've come cheaper but I don't think they checked the versatility box the Brewers seem to value. Just a guess, but I also think they would've preferred a RH bat.
