  1. "The wild, wild west." Truer words were never spoken by Dillard after this one ended. Two things I thought I'd never, ever see and I saw both in the same game: A team get one-hit thru 8 innings & finish with 9 runs, and A starting pitcher (Feltner) go six innings, throw 37 pitches in one frame & not throw more than 12 in each of the other five. It truly looked like an off-day for the offense, from Yelich w/2 on & 2 out in the 2nd inning putting up one of his patented "Oh, is there a game today?" ABs, to Hamilton leading off the eighth down by two runs getting to 2-0 with the top of the order due up, taking a pitch out of the zone for ball three, seeing it called a strike, and not challenging even though we had both of 'em remaining. Even Turang in the 9th swinging 2-0 leading off the frame wasn't overly bright IMO (he singled one pitch later though). Sproat was weird. Not a ton of walks but the 0-2, 1-2 counts & not making quality pitches, and hit harder than his stuff should allow. Maybe blame it on the altitude & whatnot, and I'm on board with letting him get all he can eat re his starting games, but the string might be running out. Yoho looked pretty effective, but it seems to me like he needs to trust his stuff just a bit more. Hit your spots with 93-94, it makes the change that much better. And, Jake Bauers for mayor. After this, I'll sleep good.
  2. Third day off in a row for Lara. Anything worth knowing?
  3. Breaking stuff can be rendered impotent there. A changeup? I dunno. His change moves an awful lot, so it could be a real coin flip. I just hope that no move re Anderson means it's a day or two at the most. That's what I suspect; it's one thing for a position player like Yelich to be carried 'day to day' for 3-4 days but you don't want to do that with a reliever.
  4. We're waiting................................................................................. 😉.
  5. If an arm or two are needed from Nashville, you'd think Wagoner would be a prime candidate for promotion to the Sounds (I've speculated the same thing re Manfredi, who can miss bats but still has command bugaboos at times). Great writeup, Spencer!
  6. That would hurt a lot of schools if passed. From what I've heard rumored, players who have already committed would be grandfathered in, although I think it would be at reduced eligibility AFA how many years they could play. I would welcome this.
  7. Just learned of this. It's been a pretty long time since they've gotten a scholarship Milwaukee area kid out of HS (Marcus Landry), and it felt like a lot of time & energy was spent on the part of both sides to reach the commitment. Nice combo guard who probably sees Autry & Elmer in their one & only season in Madison and sees a path to some early PT. I'm hoping for maybe one more commitment from this class. Portal being what it is, I don't know if it's even a good idea to put together a 4-5 player class like previous years.
  8. Challenging trip to say the least. It can be tough enough get your breaking stuff to do what you want it to do in Denver, but especially when you're there only once a year. And I'll be interested to see if Bauers gets time in LF; that's an awfully big pasture. Then LV, for the first time in MLB history. I can't even imagine what kind of a zoo that will be.
  9. Would be one of those days where it would be interesting to see who's rattling around the clubhouse.
  10. That certainly could be affecting him at the plate. I think they were moving him around earlier too though, maybe moreso now? I know Luke Adams is back, and he's played more 3B than anywhere. And even while Adams was out Leonard played there exactly one time. It might suck for him but I think he's destined to keep moving around.
  11. We love Costco but I've never tried those meals. Thanks for the tip!!! We like their rotisserie chicken, and if you're a griller/red meat eater try the NY strip steaks that come in a package of four. Not exactly cheap ($65-70 IIRC) but nice cuts of meat & they grill really well.
  12. So, it looks to me like the roster for 2026-27 is set. There's one spot left if they want to fill it but I don't believe they will. Guards-wings:* Owen Foxwell (FR), Trey Autry (SR), Eian Elmer (SR), Jack Janicki (JR), Hayden Jones (SO), Zack Kinziger (SO), Latrevion Fenderson (FR), Jackson Ball (FR), Josh Manchester (FR). Post: Austin Rapp (JR), Nolan Winter (SR), Victory Onuetu (SR), Will Garlock (SO), Isaac Riddle (FR). * Foxwell is entering his 1st year of college ball after playing professionally in Australia & thus is currently listed as a freshman. In all likelihood he won't get four years; I'd guess 65% chance he'll get two, 35% three. He & Kinziger are the most likely to share the PG spot IMO. Ball also may figure in there. Jones could possibly play some "4" in a small lineup. He's reported to have made strides this summer. A couple HS notes: Jalen Brown (Tosa West) is continuing to take visits to Madison & has another one coming up in a week or so. Some people who claim to be in the know are now projecting him as a Badger. Baboucar Ann from Maple Grove (MN) is also scheduled to visit soon. reportedly UW is still in his final 3 or 4 schools. Sam Dekker has been hired as an assistant coach at South Carolina, which is coached by former Ryan & Gard Ass't Lamont Parris. He joins a staff with a true Cardinal & White flavor; Tanner Bronson is also an assistant there.
  13. I don't think they're much interested in exploring that possibility. I say that because he hasn't played on the left side of the INF--their spot of need--since the middle of May. He's also 2 for his last 26.
  14. He's looked good recently but he threw 30 pitches tonite. If he was being considered I don't believe that would've happened. If Anderson & Hall both get shelved I think @adambr2has it right.........Yoho & Fitzpatrick.
  15. Stopping inside-the-parkers isn't his style. It's impossible for the ball to be 45 feet over your head & still jump for it.
  16. Could be. Hopefully it's just an elaborate post-mortem. I think it should be time, but we'll see.
  17. Adamczewski just hit one over the batters eye. He has 4 RBIs & we're still in the 3rd inning. EDIT: Damn, @wiguy94, thought I'd catch you with your head down just once.🤷‍♂️
  18. I agree there's a lot of media fodder there. But most managers do that, no?
  19. I compare it to Durbin last year. When he was added he showed really exceptional bat-to-ball skills at AAA but other than that his numbers were OK, not great. Still they didn't hesitate to go with him over Dunn/Capra. And as disappointing as Rengifo has been he's been better than that duo, plus as you said Williams hasn't been good & isn't trending well (I believe he's 1 for his last 24).
  20. Yeah, that's why I mentioned McGee. Yoho seems to have found something & I'd be good with him filling the Anderson role. You'd like a LH as well & Koenig isn't 'there' yet so I also agree re Fitzpatrick. I don't feel a trade on the horizon but one seldom does ahead of time so who knows?
  21. Look, I'm not doing this. No team is going to use their primary relievers in that situation, save for a deciding playoff game or a game where someone hasn't thrown for days & needs work. None. I'm sure you're a great guy & all that..........
  22. Agreed. He can't be used for a few days anyway, and you're going to Coors. I'd actually go with someone fresh in Nashville; Mcgee if he's rested.
  23. Strange to think the way this game went, that you could make the argument that the ball Chourio didn't catch to open the game when his glove hit the wall plus the ball Vaughn hit that was brought back could've been the difference. No leadoff HR & SF probably goes scoreless in the first. It's buried in all the hoopla of 21 runs, but I thought a key moment was Hentges initial hitter faced. We gathered some momentum, had Turang at 1st w/no one out, and Contreras struck out on an 0-2 pitch after fouling one off. None of the four pitches in the AB were strikes. Best of luck to Jake Woodford in whatever's next for him as I see no way he goes to Denver with the team. Just hope it's no biggie re Hall & Anderson.
  24. Just got here. We wanted Megill, Ashby or Uribe to enter the game instead of Woodford when trailing by three? My goodness.
