  1. After last weekend I remember mentioning how I'm fine with Frisco playing well against us as long as they continued when they got back home. I guess it happened.
  2. I guess that's another way of saying that they aren't playing as well as they were when they won fourteen games in a row. Which was inevitable.
  3. He's played a lot of baseball since coming over here. I think getting Hoskins back & the resulting rest opportunities will be a good thing. Vaughn hit in some bad luck at times in recent games but certainly has cooled.
  4. Of course when you lose the inane comments by announcers grate on you a little more. My favorite today was after the softly hit single off Quintana in the 3rd to make it 6-2. Schroeder: "What are you gonna do?" Oh, I dunno, Bill. Maybe not give a good hitting team six free baserunners in less than three innings?? So many times over the years Quintana gets outs on some of the pitches he threw today. But he gets them because he's 0-2, 1-2, 2-2. Or by getting ahead in the count he eventually gets early swings & quick outs. Neither happened today--it's like after the back-to-back hits to open the 2nd his whole world changed. He never settled in, and Crismatt kinda did, That made the difference.
  5. I considered that ugly b/c IMO it was a changeup in a really bad spot, in the zone but middle-up. But I remember the earlier pitches & you're right; he was painted on both edges to get to 0-2.
  6. I wasn't aware you could go twice. Knowledge of AFL eligibility rules isn't my strong suit😐. In that case, I think he should definitely go.
  7. So as I understand it Wilken is ineligible, which is unfortunate as he could use a crapload of at-bats. Short of that I agree with @jay87shot. Boeve, or perhaps Adams.
  8. Not to defend Jansen, but his PAs in his big league career amount to roughly three-and-a-half to four full seasons. Games played, same. in that time, 85 HR is actually a very healthy total. In fact it's his one redeeming characteristic offensively. Again, this isn't an attempt to defend his ABs tonite. They were both ugly.
  9. I didn't like it b/c the top of the order was due up. If he was being followed by Ron Theobald & Bob Heise, then sure. Also, Gurriel has 5 OF assists on the year, which sounds like a pretty healthy total for a LF. Not the worst decision I've ever seen but not good.
  10. He's definitely settling in nicely in recent games. But with important games yet to play I don't think they'd pull the pin on a backup C that's never played in a big league game. One way or another, the Danny Jansen Passion Play will continue to play out tomorrow as I'm sure he'll be behind the plate.
  11. A 1B coach doesn't have the same influence or responsibility as a 3B coach AFA "go" or "Don't go". That's on the baserunner when a play is in front of you. Like the ball Yelich stretched into a double. He wasn't "sent". That's totally on him.
  12. At least so far, for sure it hasn't. Two bad ABs tonite. But this was discussed the other day--I think you'd be hard pressed to find one GM that would rather have Eric Haase than Jansen. So I just hope the criticism falls on Jansen & not Matt Arnold. I'd rather have not given up Arienamo for him, but I think that was a byproduct of the quality/depth of the other MINF in the system.
  13. I can understand where he's been hit hard & let go by ATL, but Fedde wasn't all that bad. 2nd time through was a bit more of a problem. I was wondering if it'd be a one-and-done appearance for him once the rosters get expanded, but after watching him work he wouldn't be bad in a McGee-type long man-mop-up role. They picked their spots pretty well for Jansen. Just didn't get it done. Chasing once & looking bad on a high changeup once. And both times vs a LHP. Felt bad for Vaughn. Nice approach after the Yelich double, but got under a pitch that could've been driven to the right side.
  14. Fedde IS capable of giving you length. So based on the series so far, get on the board early again, score eight runs & hope Fedde can get to 100 pitches before they score nine.
  15. So that explains why we avoided Miller last night in the 8th inning until we absolutely HAD to get Koenig out of there. The 9th was his. That was the biggest negative about the win, Myers not able to go 3-4 innings after Misiorowski.
  16. Fedde doesn't exactly make you want to throw streamers up in the air but we've all seen them pick up a pitcher & get more out of him then we thought they would Megills' workload wasn't all that heavy in the last 6-7 weeks. I'm sure his extended inning Sunday didn't help.
  17. I'm not nuts about a 10-game road trip in front of the ASB either.
  18. Not a big deal, but I noticed that too. Very strange. "Those damn season-ticket holders, probably selling their OD tix to all the thousands of White Sox fans that always invade here!!"
  19. Makes sense that every time Miz starts (assuming he continues to), someone is available that day who can go 3 or 4 if needed. The days don't line up w/Gasser but that can be manipulated/adjusted.
