  1. We played poorly last night. In MLB anyone can lose to anyone when that happens. Fell behind 5-zip & gifted them three of those runs.
  2. AFA I'm concerned, In order to give the Giants Yoho Mike Yastrzemski would have to hit more like grandpa.
  3. It may be Jay getting the call only due to DL Hall throwing four innings yesterday for N'ville (and Williams working an inning). Could be an interesting 72 hours coming up, for a lot of people.
  4. It's been speculated that we may see more of these 'old school' type trades due to so many teams now having playoff hopes. If so, it may benefit Milwaukee due to the bullpen depth @jay87shot alluded to. I'm specifically happy to see Bukauskas back in the harness, and Hall had a decent outing last night. There would be some risk involved in dealing Mitchell, there's a lot of ability there. But he'd probably be the guy to go due to the most upside of the three. Wiemer running hot in Nashville & Isaac Collins having a solid if unspectacular year (along with having versatility & being a switch-hitter with close to even splits) probably increases the likelihood. I said it once before---if looking for a bat they shouldn't confine themselves to just LHH.
  5. Agreed, unless the rental aspect of the acquisition is mirrored by cheap cost in prospects. In that case I'd explore a rental.
  6. You're right, although they're still buying in all likelihood. I know it's the nature of the beast when you look at a sports message board, but I've seen futures prices that look rock-solid stable compared to some of the stuff on here. Some of these comments.........after admittedly playing like crap & losing a game, while previously winning 5 of 6. And I don't want to hear about being lucky due to lack of offense. They won games the way they're built to win them. And with the offense sputtering & rotation in flux almost from the start they're STILL able to do that. That, to me, should be celebrated. No, we aren't favorites to go to the WS. But you'd think this is college football where only the top 3 or 4 can win it all. It's baseball, people.
  7. Serious question. I'd really like to know your definition of "going nowhere". As much more than a casual fan I'd like to find out if I'm among the group that knows exactly what's going to happen.
  8. Of course you can't do that. I congratulate you for giving a lucid response. They certainly would be underdogs vs LA or Philly in the post season. I guess some just look at that as a reason to wave a white flag. Others actually relish it.
  9. The story tonight was that it was a 7:10 start, but about 30-45 minutes later than that for Peralta & Adames. It just illustrates the sheer stupidity of an organization (and announcing crew) feeling the need to anoint someone with the 'staff ace' moniker simply because Woodruff & Burnes aren't out there. He's more than young enough to still have his best work ahead of him, but the deficiencies & inconsistencies are to the point of being labeled chronic after this many years. A rotation piece that will give you some great work over a season but not an ace.
  10. I don't know about Snell, but Wade is one of the people I'd inquire about AFA replacing the Yelich ABs.
  11. In this Wiemer debate I think the truth lies somewhere in between. His recent performance suggests they most likely aren't ready to give up on him, but I also don't think his trade value right now is such that it's going to tip any scales, even as a throw-in. They're best off keeping him & waiting to see to what extent he's figured things out. Rengifo would look good in their batting order but I don't see him being much of a fit.
  12. I'm fine with them checking the market, but I really don't think it necessarily needs to be a LHH. If they don't find a trade partner it could mean another go-round for Black, since Yelich was DHing & that's a position Black fields really, really well.
  13. IIRC there were cases where a player was incentivized (read: paid) to stay home from an ASG. I wouldn't be surprised if that is now discouraged in MLB. If that's the case & Yelich played based on that, shame on him AND the team.
  14. Maybe he watches re-broadcasts of all the games & learned how important the ASG was from the Leverings, Andersons & Minnaerts of the world. Sitting may not have made much difference but yeah, it bothers me, too.
  15. In this WC world we live in, the Mets are certainly still in it & I don't see them dealing Alonso. As to the predictions, I don't have a specific idea except to say that at the rookie & two A-ball levels we have promising infielders coming out of our ears & that's where I think we may be looking to create a match. Even after already dealing Barrios.
  16. Maybe if this was a fantasy league, or a computer simulation................ No, not even then.
  17. Wow......make THAT into a bar bet in Milwaukee. Or in Seattle, for that matter.
  18. That was my & my nephews' refrain for years when we had season tix. I liked Fitzgerald as a coach but some of the stuff they were able to accomplish left us scratching our heads. Back in the day we considered it the triple jinx-----11:00 early game, in Evanston, with Pam Ward doing play-by-play. Guaranteed to be one sad-assed performance by Bucky.
  19. I'm wondering about how much better the defense will/can be, with some guys in the secondary a year older (led by Wohler & Hallman) hopefully helped out by a better pass rush. They sound very encouraged about the pressure they can bring w/John Pius & Darryl Peterson coming off the edge. Don't know what to think about Van Dyke, and the O-Line has enough people returning but they didn't exactly excel last year. I think it was a lot of brain cramping due to a new system but........they seemed to have stepped up their O-Line recruiting, so hopefully the foundation is being laid there. Fickell seems to have little problem attracting skill position guys. I'm excited to see what kind of contribution they can get from Trech Kekahuna, who looked great in the bowl game. In this system he could certainly be more than a return guy.
  20. We'd all like to see more offensive consistency, but the run prevention philosophy has worked really, really well. With the world the Brewers live in we're much better off this way than trying to win every game 7-6. Like with Hoskins. He may not get it going, but they're going to give him every chance to do so. There are teams that might've cut him loose by now, but most of those teams play near an ocean & can eat a contract like you or I eat a Wheat Thin.
  21. If you're including both ends of the floor, to borrow a hoops term............yes.
  22. A number of heroes in this one, but I'm giving it up for Perkins. Two hits, one from each side (which may prove significant moving forward) & what I thought was another pretty impressive AB, even though it didn't get the job done. With the bags full & one out you need contact, and he fell behind in the count quickly but hung in & sheared off the grounder to the 3rd base bag. Hitting from the left side there, the 3B playing that close to the line is far from SOP. Could've easily driven in a run. Nice to see good stuff from Turang the last couple of days too. And obviously both the bulk guys in the pen. Junis can easily make his FB look 96-98 when the breaking stuff is that good. Nice weapon. Mitchell seemed to me to be building over the last week or so. Ugly day at the plate today though. Could've swore I heard Dillard say everyone in the BP should be available today except Koenig. Analysts need days off, too.
