  1. Robert Gasser? Obviously more would be nice, but that's not "zero".

  3. WAR may undervalue relievers, but position players are still more valuable. Taylor is also a big upgrade over their current outfielders, with the exception of Laureano.
  4. Honestly, I had forgotten about your previous comment about Quero. I disagreed with it, but that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. Nothing in my above statement was intended to be directed at it. Anyways, I did some follow-up research, and that video is indeed strictly about the top 10 catching prospects. Which means that they think Quero is a top 10 catching prospect, not a top 10 prospect in the game. I think you're trying to make me out to be a Quero "hater", which I most certainly am not. I have said on numerous occasions that I believe him to be a top 100 prospect in the game already. His defense is incredible for someone that young. And I do think that, if he builds on his strong finish at the plate, he could absolutely find himself within the top 50/25 of all MLB prospects by midseason next year. He's just not there yet, as his high-A numbers only occurred over 20 games. All of the other catching prospects in the top 10 or close to the top 10 (Cartaya, Moreno, Alvarez) have well over a full season's worth of elite offensive production under their belt. In the meantime, I hope his name starts to show up on top 100 lists this offseason, as I think he's definitely earned it.
  5. I wouldn't automatically assume they'll get an offer for Burnes that they can't turn down. They might get lowballed for Burnes, while having a different team exceed their asking price for Adames and/or Woodruff. As far as their overriding goal, the big man himself said the other day that they're "VERY intent" on returning to the postseason in 2022. That becomes a more difficult task were they to trade any of the big three.

  7. That's your opinion, which you've stated repeatedly, and you're certainly entitled to it. But the likely scenario, even beyond their comments, continues to be that they run it back with the big 3 still in tow. They're not going to trade Burnes/Woodruff/Adames for the sake of trading them while they're still under two years of control. They want to compete at a high level and get back to the playoffs in 2023 and having Burnes/Woodruff at the top of the rotation and Adames at SS almost certainly gives them their best shot to do so. They'll listen to offers, given the realities of the market and the fact they want to keep getting future "bites at the apple", but any trade will have to meet their high asking price and outweigh the immediate costs of losing such a player.

  9. I think that's where management is leaning too, judging by the "opportunistic" and "very intent on returning to the playoffs in 2023" remarks from Arnold and Attanasio. And then before he stepped down, Stearns said they were going to bring back "the core". They would probably have to be blown away by an offer to trade one of the big 3. They will listen though, as they always do and should.

  11. Interested to see how Henderson's velocity on his fastball evolves as he progresses through the minors. If he starts consistently throwing in the mid to upper 90s, we may really have something. Wouldn't be the first fourth round pitcher we've had success in developing (*cough, Corbin Burnes, *cough).
  12. But what are the chances of them actually landing DeGrom, Verlander, or Rodon? Like, less than 10%. In that case, to the trade market they go.... As far as an extension, Musgrove and Castillo are recent examples of top tier starting pitchers who decided to forgo their prime FA opportunity and instead sign an extension with the clubs they were recently traded to.
  13. Their GM has made clear to fans that the organization is ready to compete right now and that they're willing to significantly increase their payroll and potentially part with some higher-level prospects. https://www.mlb.com/news/orioles-mike-elias-could-expand-payroll-in-2023 And their run differential last year was in negative territory largely due to their slow start. From June on, they finished 12 games above .500 with a +22 run differential, as their young and exciting core, headlined by Rutschman and Henderson, was called up and given increased playing opportunities. They're quite similar to the Cubs in 2014, who finished strong on the backs of their young players and then took off for 90+ wins the next season. There's a reason why a report came out just yesterday naming them as a likely DeGrom bidder. Assuming they don't end up landing one of the big three in FA, they might then turn to the trade market to obtain their ace, which is where Burnes would then come in. Rodriguez or Holiday (and another top 100 prospect such as Westburg) would ultimately have to be the starting point for the Brewers to budge. The payroll space would also be there for them to make as serious run at extending Burnes.
  14. As @wiguy94 pointed out, they're referring to Quero being a top 10 catcher prospect, not a top 10 prospect in the game. That's a lot more reasonable take, and I agree with it. You yourself explained why Alvarez is the #1 prospect. He possesses massive power for a catcher IN ADDITION to being a good fielder. Quero just doesn't have that right now, though he is improving with the bat. So, more of a top 100-type than a top 10 guy.
  15. I feel like they might as Taylor has been better than Puk (4.0 vs 1.3 WAR), has the same amount of control left as Puk, and they're in need of outfielders. FWIW, pr BTV, Oakland is the one that comes out with surplus value in this trade to the tune of 13.0 (Puk has a 0 MTV).
  16. D coordinator for the 0-16 Lions, one of the worst defenses in NFL history...Never had coached even an above average defense. Lafleur screwed that one up big-time.
  17. This defense is terrible. Joe Barry has no business coaching a flag-football team, let alone an NFL defense.
  18. Really. We have to eject guys for that?
  19. Yeah, if you can find the money for either, obviously you would trade Woodruff. But that's likely not the reality we're living in.

  21. "A year". Yelich accounts for only about a quarter of $100 million a year.
  22. Attanasio also said something to the effect of, "we're very intent on returning to the playoffs in 2023." Who ultimately knows, but it doesn't sound like they're ready to go in that direction. I probably wouldn't either, unless someone makes you an offer you can't refuse (e.g., Orioles offering us Grayson Rodriguez for Burnes).
