  1. When you're always looking for something to blame, you somehow end up blaming an offense that scored 7 runs with a .335 xBA and hard hits galore......Against a solid starting pitcher and pitching staff.
  2. 21-13 gets the first 100 win season in franchise history.
  3. Jake Bauers now has a top 10 OPS in the game and seems likely to get downballot MVP vote(s) at this point. Is this a guy the Brewers need to QO before the lockout, with Woody's accepted QO from last offseason coming off the books?
  4. In the last day the Brewers are averaging 22 runs per game. Therefore, the Brewers offense, is in fact, multiple times better than even the 27 Yankees. Simply selecting the most recent, relevant data as teams have changed quite a bit over the first 126 games!
  5. Why wouldn't they get another one at some point? When they tend to incentivize and reward localities who put forward taxpayer $ for stadiums/renovations (see Toronto, Baltimore).... Like I said, MLB isn't the NBA where they go to LA every other year. They actually try rotate through all their clubs, large markets and small.
  6. FWIW, the QO offer deadline is before the lockout begins on December 1. Brewers can offer it, and Bauers would have to accept/reject before then. Because of this, would assume any change to the QO structure wouldn't take effect until after this coming offseason.
  7. FWIW, "Ripping the cover off the ball" isn't exactly Lara's game. At his best, he's a younger, switch-hitting, more toolsy version of Sal Frelick,. Which is why I like the idea of platooning them (plus Mitchell) if they're okay with only semi-regular ABs for Lara instead of regular ABs. Knowing the Brewers, I expect Lara to get optioned instead of Lockridge. They don't care if Lockridge only gets the weak side of a platoon at most.
  8. If it were up to me, I would keep Lara on the roster even when Frelick returns to at minimum platoon with Frelick (and Mitchell) against LHP. Comes down to whether the Brewers are okay with that for Lara developmentally. You're not exactly worried about getting Lockridge ABs.
  9. Probably means the midsummer classic returns to Milwaukee some time during the 2030s, right? Unlike the NBA, where the city continues to be spurned going on a half century and despite a new arena, MLB has no qualms about small markets playing host to the All Star Game and has something of a rotation. These are basically the only other cities that have been waiting in line longer (with the exception of San Fran due to the Olympics). MLB gets to “reward” the state and the club for the taxpayer funded renovations to Am Fam. Maybe Vegas and Tampa jump to the front once their new parks are done, but after that....
  10. The problem with the Brewers is they're just too reliant on the home run ball as evidenced by this game. That's not going to work in the postseason.
  11. I mean the Cardinals are literally rebuilding and the Brewers are in first place. Plus the Cardinals held Baez in AAA the whole year until now while the Brewers’ AAA hitters are all injured and they already called up Lara and Pratt.
  12. I never said I wouldn't still take the Cubs offense. I'm just saying the gulf may not be as substantial as it feels right now in the midst of the Cubs hot stretch and the Brewers ice cold streak. Versus their defense where they legitimately have a substantial metrical advantage. They definitely hit the ball more consistently at optimal spray angles, which is why they have a higher SLG% than the Brewers despite the similar metrics. But there also may be a degree of overperformance right now too.
  13. Maybe, but he's started slow in AAA and only has 20 PAs vs. Baez who has played well in AAA the whole season. Also no place to put him unless Yelich goes on the IL.
  14. Baez has been in AAA the whole season and is better than any prospect the Brewers could reasonably call up right now. If you're thinking of Fischer, his contact metrics are worse than Baez's and he's been in A+ and AA.
  15. Nope. Deadline applies only to players on the 40 man. Ornelas was taken off the 40 man and cleared waivers so he's eligible to be traded.
  16. Me: “Here are some key metrics which suggest that the Cubs’ offense isn’t that much superior to the Brewers.” You: “I don’t like those metrics because they don’t take into account things like contact.” Me: “Okay, here’s a more comprehensive metric which encompasses contact and QOC and likewise shows the Brewers and Cubs with similar levels of expected offensive output” You: “I don’t know why my opinion and observation bothers you so much and why you feel compelled to dig to find advanced statistics!” Setting aside the fact that I merely shared some key data points and it was YOU who felt compelled to respond to me (like a week after I made this post btw), let me remind you that several others have pointed out your persistent, years-running habit of discarding data where the Brewers’ offense stacks up relatively well and selectively choosing data within an arbitrary timeframe to best suit your narrative. I’m not engaging with you any further here because I know where this is headed as you take up the naive, principled victim card as you’ve already started to do. Bottom line is the data is the data no matter your personal feelings. I shared what I and many believe to be the best indicators, and you’re free to draw your own conclusions.
  17. I mean I also just provided xwOBA, which is the most comprehensive in terms of expected offensive output. These also are not cherry picked for a certain timeframe. They represent the entire season when teams get hot and cold over various points. From a metric standpoint, at least, the point remains that the notion that the Cubs offense is “much better” than the Brewers isn’t really borne out by the data. Defense is where you’re much better off making that argument.
  18. Oh you believe in statistics all right. You just like to manipulate them to fit your narrative such as cherrypicking runs per game over the last two months which just happens to neatly coincide with the end of the Cubs' ice cold stretch and the Brewers' worst stretch of the season. xwOBA is a comprehensive metric that encompasses contact and QOC. It's widely considered to be the best metric to measure expected offensive output. Professional baseball analysts use it. Dismiss it all you want because you don't like that it contradicts your never ending narrative, but it exists nevertheless.
  19. He was warming up in the bullpen last night and would have pitched if they had made their comeback in the 8th inning rather than the 9th inning. He was unavailable on Wednesday, because he personally requested more rest to Murphy after throwing nearly 60 high stress pitches over the weekend.
  20. I'm just saying if there is one area where the Cubs clearly have an advantage over the Brewers, you should look more to their defense (58 OAA vs. 7 OAA) and not really their hitting (.321 xWOBA vs. .321 xWOBA). At least from a metrics standpoint.
  21. I mean the Brewers strike out less as a team than the Cubs.... The stat you're referring which encompasses everything including strikeouts, walks, and quality of contact is xwOBA. Of which the Brewers have an identical one to the Cubs at .321....
  22. I doubt Pratt is a minimum IL stay. Hamstring strains almost never are. Chourio's "tickle" last year ended up being a month, which is what I would now expect for Pratt. If that is the case, can they really afford to give ABs to at least two of Pratt, Hamilton, and Bae for that length of time?
  23. Chourio is not underproducing......I would have been upset if I were him watching what the guys around him did last night. He's carrying the offense right now.
  24. Rengifo is in the middle of a sustained hot streak. That's all it is right now. He was always due for major positive regression. What about what the Brewers have done with Bauers and Vaughn coming from other orgs? Shouldn't that lessen your concern?
