  1. Nah. 100 pitches, 1 run game, and Giants starting to make contact off him with the top of the order due up. And our franchise's most valuable asset.
  2. Me too. But since some people are clamoring heavily for a teardown, I'll give them Woody over Burnes.
  3. Corbin is the most dominant pitcher this side of Jacob DeGrom, save for his recent slump. If we were to trade a pitcher, I would trade Woody.
  4. For a second there, I thought the Nationals were going to blow another huge 9th inning lead.
  5. Just mute him if it bothers you that much. Quite honestly, it's better than a lot of the stuff that ends up in the game thread.
  6. Eric Lauer has been mostly good for us over the last two seasons but I wonder about his attitude in the aftermath of the Hader trade and the potential influence on the locker room during this slide...
  7. 95 wins last year and mid 80s in wins this year (at least for now). Split the difference and that's around 90 wins as I said. Still believe that a lot of what has gone wrong this year is readily solvable, though not inevitable. It will require some shrewd maneuvering by Stearns and co. to add a bat or two and build better pitching depth. Rookies may experience some rough patches, but will also bring more upside than guys like McCutchen, Cain, Taylor, etc. Meanwhile, the historic 2021 rotation is still largely in place and Devin remains one of the elite relievers in baseball.
  8. I would not go forward with Caratini as the starting catcher next year. A decent back up who started out nicely, but who has now reverted back to his subpar career norms.
  9. To be fair, Lauer didn't give them much of a shot to begin with.
  10. Next season. After all, we won 95 games last year and remain on pace for the mid 80s in wins this year.
  11. I'm not talking about spending with the big boys. Teams like the Brewers will always have to sign and trade at the margins. That's what they've done over the last 5-6 years and it's worked out really well for the most part with 4 consecutive playoff appearances. For example, who thought Hunter Renfroe was an option at the beginning of the offseason last year, and look how that's turned out for us. Another shrewd move or two like that, combined with better health from your ace 20-something pitchers and then you're really cooking.
  12. "Let loose" as in not making an effort to resign him, and going with a young talent like Feliciano instead. Suter is not "terrific" he's slightly above replacement level. They may keep him anyways, but he could easily be traded/non-tendered.
  13. I suspect there will be a significant youth movement with Frelick, Turang, Mitchell, Wiemer, etc. all playing significant roles, while long-time fixtures like Suter, Narvaez, etc. will be let loose. With a shrewd free agent signing/trade or two, could easily see them being right back at around 90 wins.
  14. Actually, the performances of Burnes, Woodruff, and Peralta, this year still place them as one of the better trios of starting pitchers in the game.
  15. I doubt they trade Woodruff AND Burnes. Nor do I think they tear it down.
  16. Yep. Definitely not one of Stearns' better moves. To be honest, I wouldn't mind if Stearns did leave after the season as it may be time for a fresh perspective with Arnold. Keep the system that he's developed, but let the deputy take over.
  17. What the heck, Perdomo. You couldn't have done this yesterday?
  18. Last year he was one of the best hitters in baseball against LHP. If he had replicated that this season, we may not be talking about our struggles against LHP. But that seems to be gone now and he has no other leg to stand on, metaphorically speaking.
  19. The rotation stats are inflated due to Peralta and Woodruff being injured for significant portions of the season and guys like Alexander, Gonzales, Small, etc. getting innings. When healthy and on their games, Burnes, Woodruff, and Peralta is one of the best trios of starters in baseball. And Ashby has as much potential as anyone save for maybe Burnes. With all of these guys being in their 20s, why wouldn't you bet on a performance more in line with 2021?
  20. McCutchen is done imo. Can't even crush lefties anymore like he's supposed to. Can't wait for next season when we're rid of his and Cain's contracts. Hopefully Stearns learned his lesson about signing aging outfielders, especially with Frelick, Wiemer, Mitchell, Ruiz all waiting in the wings. Let's go with upside moving forward.
