  1. We desperately need a sweep. Time for the bats to crush righties like they usually do (3rd highest OPS against RHP in MLB) and for Woody to lock it down.
  2. How do we know how much time/effort he put into practice, keeping in shape, etc? All we as fans can see is whether a player gives it all on the field, and Cain certainly did that during his time here. Now, I think the criticism of his recent comments should be separated from criticism of his opt-out. One is merited, especially with how the Brewers gave Cain ample opportunity to turn it around and even then only released him when he reached 10 years of service time, while the other is completely bogus.
  3. Last year he was fine. This year, father time just caught up with him.
  4. Plus he had a young family at home to think about when we knew basically nothing about the virus. Don't understand how anyone could possibly fault him for what he did.
  5. And Rowdy has a better OPS+ due to the more pitching-friendly environment compared 2016. Rowdy is a pretty good hitter who is quite useful to the Brewers at his salary.
  6. Padres fall to the D-backs 5-0. So, as disappointing as this past weekend was, the D-Backs are just playing really good baseball right now with their young contact hitters. Hopefully they can take another game and we can sweep the Rockies as the pitching matchups the rest of the series set up for that.
  7. Move up a half-game on the idle Phillies. Go Dbacks! Play like you did this weekend!
  8. Mitchell will be a good player in the end, I believe. But Frelick was more deserving of a call-up and would have provided a much-needed element to this team with his contact skills.
  9. Houser likely reached or was close to his max, as he's been in the bullpen for a while now and only got up to around 75 pitches in his rehab.
  10. He did with Woody and Burnes this weekend and it came back to bite him. Peralta they're being careful with as he returns from injury. Houser has also been in the bullpen for a while now and can't go much more than 70, which is where he was at.
  11. Coors Field sucks. That's a routine flyout in almost every other ballpark.
  12. Maybe he's a guy where you go with a reliever like Strzlecki or Milner for the first inning and then bring him in in the second to help overcome those first inning issues.
  13. Not that it matters anymore. But we might actually win on a day when the Cardinals lose. Oh well, winning today is still important with the Phillies being idle. If the Brewers still wanna be in this race, it's right there for them.
  14. Gotta find a way to get this one. Houser has now given you a chance.
  15. Kris Bryant is on the IL and probably done for the year...
  16. Frelick was the one who had actually earned the call-up. But Stearns and co. cared more about "time in the organization".
  17. I don't see what's not respectful. I responded to sarcasm with sarcasm. You say exit velocity is overrated. I say it's actually quite important (though, not the only important factor) and have stats to back it up.
  18. It's intertwined with contact as the most important factors. With the velocity and spin rates of modern pitchers, "hitting 'em where they ain't" is better said than done.
  19. The Brewers have experienced SOME bad luck during this stretch. Case in point: that last play. But still just playing awful baseball like not even catching the ball.
  20. Why I said you still have to make contact, but exit velocity is nevertheless a crucial piece of the hitting puzzle.
