  1. I'm pretty sure I've read in the past that MLB has to approve the placing of a player on the bereavement list. I don't have time to look it up right now, but I think that is the case.
  2. Mike Leake arrested for shoplifting. Really, Mike? $60 in t-shirts? I guess $425,000 doesn't go as far as it used to.
  3. I was a huge Gufs fan when I was in high school. One of my first concerts was The Gufs at Shank Hall. I think I caught a tape that they threw into the audience. Wow, that was 20+ years ago. I saw them at Summerfest a couple of years ago and they were awful. Totally mailed it in. I know they're still around, but I don't have any desire to see them. Totally agree with Patrick on the MKE music scene. Not too long ago, this was a huge cover band city and bands like the Love Monkeys and Eddie Butts were headlining Summerfest side stages. Not so much anymore, there are a ton of good original bands here. Some of the best parts of Summerfest are the 6:00 and 8:00 time slots, many of these get filled by local bands, who are essentially opening for the headliners. Sure, some of headliners are underwhelming (I'm looking in your direction Mr. Loaf), but they all draw well, which creates the largest crowd any of these local bands have likely ever played in front of.
  4. Yeah, there is a "chuckiehacks" over there too, and he's a moron.
  5. My bad. For a minute there I thought you were one of those Anti-Rodgers, Anti-Thompson Favre lovers. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Wow. Inappropriate, unfounded and off-topic. I'll just get in before the lock. On topic, we really don't know anything about this event, the original commeter on brewers.com, or Corey Hart's rehab schedule.
  7. I was hoping this would be out there somewhere. I was at the park with my kids (one with a playground and swings, not the park). I was checking in once in a while on gameday, but then on the walk home, I heard the bottom of the 8th and top of the 9th. Never has a cel phone speakerphone sounded so good. My first thought was also Easter Sunday.
  8. I think Manny, along with Pujols are the best pure hitters of my generation (I'm 35). While there probably was significant PED use, I don't think you can debate Manny's raw talent. Like Bonds, he's a guy who probably had HOF talent without PEDs, but chose to use them anyway. Tremendous jags? Yes. Would I vote for them? Yes. Ultimately I think all these guys get in at some point. It will probably involve taking some of the voting power away from the holier-than-thou writers.
  9. Hey, that was a quality start last night. Actually, that shouldn't be in blue. It was a QS, but that probably speaks more to the absurdity of that stat.
  10. I refuse to take accountability for my actions, I'll just quit. I should probably head over to the political board before I make any comparisons to politicians.
  11. Ueck was on fire with the Erik Estrada bit. After the game, he said it again and said that Erik was thanking them for all the publicity. Then, as they came back from commercial, Ueck was pretending to be on the phone, "hey Erik, no, I'm doing the post-game show, I'll call you back later. Hey folks! we're back..." Provus was just giggling like a schoolgirl in the background.
  12. Probably the only good thing I'll ever say about Gomez, he did exactly what you're supposed to do there when Braun was coming home, waving him to slide right. You don't see that too often anymore. ...And then he pops out on the first pitch.
  13. I was excited to relax with a cold beverage or three tonight and watch the first win of the season until I saw four little letters - WMLW. Radio it is.
  14. I was there as well. 214 was pretty tame. In fact, I didn't see nearly as many drunks as usual on Opening Day. Well, maybe the two guys behind me who thought Nieves was an outfielder for us last year, couldn't understand why Naverson came out after 98 pitches, and the "lack" of batting average on the scoreboard. Even the men's room lines were pretty tame. I'll echo the thoughts on the scoreboard, it's pretty awesome. Love the prominent OBP and SLG placement. I was two seats away from catching a foul ball. I've never caught one in the hundreds of games I've attended. Caught a home run (Eric Owens!), caught minor league and spring training foul balls, but never an MLB foul ball. This is the year, though - I was two seats away in Cincy on Thursday, too.
  15. Reds catchers - not too shabby. Brewers catchers - shabby.
  16. Watch out - the sky is falling! I'll agree with Schlitz - way more pressing issues on this team than 3B. With McGehee, you know what you're getting on offense and his defense, while not great is at least passable.
  17. Now at 47 with a 50% chance of rain. As a bonus we've added 10-15 MPH winds. This is not moving in the right direction.
  18. Last minute mobile prediction while in the 'Nati for Opening Day. 88
  19. Typical minor league. Always going with the novelty item.
  20. Axford was on the D-List this morning. They talked a lot about twitter and the poll in particular. Axford had the following comments about each song (not verbatim, this is from memory): New Noise - I've always really loved this song, but never really thought about it for an entrance Good, Bad, Ugly - Just kind of a novelty, I put it up there and people have really run with it Audioslave - This is the song I used most last year He didn't comment on Rage, and definitely sounded like he likes New Noise, for what it's worth. God, this season needs to start soon - I've been reduced to conducting analysis on entrance music polls and radio interviews.
